When the darkness closes all around, Beauty is still there just waiting to be found.
Dawson Huxham blames himself for his sister’s death . . . until he briefly crosses time and discovers she’s alive in the Middle Ages. Hoping to reconnect with her, he searches for the holy water that will help him visit the past for a longer duration. But he realizes he’s not the only one looking for the miraculous water. Terrorists are threatening him and watching his every move.
As Dawson locates holy water from an unlikely source, he crosses fully into the past where he meets a beautiful noblewoman, Philippa Neville, who is desperately trying to escape her uncle’s plans for an arranged marriage. When danger closes in, Dawson agrees to wed her in an effort to thwart her uncle’s schemes. As forces in both the present and past conspire against the newlyweds, will they find a way to be together before the swiftly moving waters of time separate them forever?

Jody lives in central Michigan with her husband, five busy children, and five spoiled cats. When she’s not penning another of her page-turning stories, she loves to spend her time reading, especially when it also involves consuming coffee and chocolate.
I have been enchanted with this series and want to read the next book as soon as it is available! The concept is unique for a time travel situation. The limits put upon the characters are interesting. Ms. Hedlund has proven she can write in several different genres and she shines in each one. Her settings are sumptuous in 1300s Canterbury and she depicts the customs well. Dawson Huxam is a flawed hero but comes into his own and shows his worth. Philippa is a beauty in a time when she is being manipulated by her evil uncle. But Dawson reaches back in time to come to her rescue. The stories were tied together by the mysterious holy water and the quest to send it forward in time. There also those in the present who wish to use it for nefarious purposes. I love the way Ms. Hedlund ties it all together and leaves just enough unsolved to make us want to read the next book in the series. Skillfully written time travel that leaves you wanting more, it contains faith journeys , romance, danger, bravery and an intriguing puzzle. *I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not required to post a favorable review.all opinions are my own.*
Wait for Me is a tremendous addition to an already fascinating series! While it would have been easy to just repeat the formula of the previous time travel experiences (and we all would have loved it regardless), Jody Hedlund makes the plot of Book 4 fresh and exciting, turning it on its head. I really disliked Dawson in Book 3, but his sister’s “death” has truly changed his heart and filled him with regret about how he’d been living and acting. This new Dawson is certainly not perfect, but relatable and wins you over pretty fast. I also loved the supporting cast- his friends Acey and Chloe. Oh that we would all have friends like them when we need them! Phillipa is not a damsel- but she’s desperately trying to be her own white knight but it’s just not working. Dawson and Phillipa fall hard and fast for one another- so much so that Hedlund apologizes for it in her author’s note… but it’s necessary for the plot to come together and it’s done in a way that’s understandable and rings true. I especially liked Phillipa’s conversations with Dawson about her steps of finding light in the darkness. Don’t each of us need to utilize those in our lives? How often do we stop and say thanks for all the little things God has done?
Nothing can replace Harrison and Ellen’s story for me as my favorite of the series- but I think this one is maybe now my number two! I just really liked the plot twist you’re going to have to read to discover on your own!

This is one of my favorites in this series! I read it so quickly, it was just so good! Wait for Me is the fourth book in Jody Hedlund’s Waters of Time. It was worth the wait. Dawson definitely needed his own book. Dawson had such a troubled soul. He was struggling to live again after the loss of his eyesight and then the death of his sister. I loved reading about Dawson growing up and learning to trust God even through all his troubles. Dawson had to learn to see the good in the world and what it meant to keep on living even when life feels hard. Dawson was such a strong character and it was fun to read about him helping others and being himself. Philippa was such a sweet character. Life had not been easy for her and yet she still strived to help and care for others. Philippa had to learn how to fight for her future and for what she loved. I loved reading about her interacting with Dawson and drawing him in. The romance was sweet and I loved reading about them falling in love. They really complemented each other. The plot was also interesting. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see how this book would end. I also love the way Hedlund wove faith into her books and the lessons that were learned. Wait for Me was a great book! I would definitely recommend it! Wait for Me is a closed door Christian time travel romance.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.
What a beautiful addition to the Waters of Time series! These books are best read in order, but you could probably jump in and understand enough to enjoy this novel. However, you will get a much richer experience if you work your way through the series. Even reading the book right before this one, Stay With Me, which is the story of Dawson’s sister, Sybil, would provide a good bit of backstory to show how much Dawson has changed since that book.
I loved the wonderful way Philippa was able to retain her wonder and thankfulness to God in all circumstances, even with everything she had endured. Dawson had already begun to change and repent of the way he had treated friends and family for the past eight years as he suffered with blindness and injuries. Yet, Philippa helped him even more. They truly helped each other.
I loved seeing Philippa begin to embrace the feelings of love that she and Dawson shared. After simply enduring a marriage and all that came with it, Philippa did not realize the depth of emotions she could feel toward someone. The connection between Dawson and Philippa was sigh worthy and the way they both continued to sacrificially help each other was perfect. I really enjoyed diving back in to this time traveling fiction and hope for more chances to do so.

Another Amazing read from Jody Hedlund! I have been loving The Waters of Time series! I have always been a fan of time crossing stories and Jody always does a fantastic job of bringing her stories to life. I feel like I am in the Middle Ages myself. This book captured me from page one and never let go.
This is the fourth book in the series but it is written in such a way that it could be read as a stand alone. I had been waiting to find out more about Dawson since I read the last book. Dawson has been through a difficult time and has been living his life in a dark, lonely place when we left him last. I am so glad he got his own story. I loved seeing Dawson grow and become a hero. The love story between him and Phillippa was just amazing! They shared a truly beautiful kind of love and I enjoyed seeing Phillippa help heal Dawson. She truly brings out the best in him. They fell quickly for one another but it worked so well and was done so nicely. I was so glad to see Dawson get his happy ending.
If you haven't read anything by Jody Hedlund you absolutely need to! She is an author I highly recommend when someone asks me about romances or historical fiction. I discovered her last summer and she quickly moved to my auto buy author list. She is a truly gifted storyteller and everything she writes is so well researched that you are quickly pulled into another time. You need to pick up this book and read the entire series as well.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Wait for Me by Jody Hedlund is sooo good! I love the Waters of Time series and this story is fantastic! My favorite one so far, and I'm thrilled she left it open for more stories. What a testament to the author's engaging writing skills and creativity to immerse us, the readers, in such entertaining and captivating "what if" stories!
"When the darkness closes all around, beauty is still there just waiting to be found." Dawson Huxham was a supporting character in the last book about his sister Sybil. In that story he was bitter and angry at being blinded for the last 8 years after a roadside bomb exploded when he was in the military in Afghanistan. Now he is the main character and this is his beautiful redemption story.
Dawson travels back in time to try to solve a crime happening in his timeline, and meets a beautiful noblewoman, Philippa Neville, who is desperately trying to escape her uncle’s plans for an arranged marriage. I so enjoyed the healing and growth displayed throughout Dawson's story, and Philippa brings a positive outlook to his life and teaches him to see things in a new way.
There is danger in both time periods, really sweet, selfless, and swoony romance, amazing character growth, and it was also fun to visit some of the previous characters in both timelines. What a surprising and perfect ending! I hope Jody Hedlund will write more in this series!!
I highly recommend Wait For Me for lovers of a great story, and lovers of time travel and fun "what if" stories!
Thank you to the author for allowing me to read an early copy. All opinions are my own. I have also pre-ordered a copy for my keeper shelf along with the rest of the series.
I absolutely love this series! In her time-crossing series, Jody Hedlund uses holy water that has been linked to miracles as the conduit for traveling back to medieval England. While each story can be read as a standalone, I would highly recommend reading the stories in order.
Ms. Hedlund continues to captivate the imagination with her skill to immerse her readers in a different time, in this case 1382 Medieval England. The historical detail she includes lends authenticity to her stories. After reading Stay With Me, I knew I just had to read Dawson's story. His story was one of brokenness and despair and I couldn't wait for him to find a happy ending.
In Wait for Me, Ms. Hedlund pens an unpredictable plot, with an unexpected twist from the previous books that kept me spellbound from the first to the last page. In the previous books, the heroines have been brave and full of spunk. I loved that Philippa presented differently, with her sweetness and heart for serving others. As always, Ms. Hedlund writes romantic chemistry between her hero and heroine that practically sizzled off the page.
I was happy to have brief cameos from characters from the earlier novels in the series. Hope there are more books in this series.
Highly recommend for fans of time-crossing novels and/or historical fiction set in Medieval England.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author/publisher and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Wait for Me by Jody Hedlund is positively the best ending I could never have imagined! The journey to the past is again ushered in by the Holy Waters. This time, Dawson finally takes the leap and finds everything he thought he knew turned completely upside down. Hang on because there are a lot of twists and turns in this one. Just when I thought there was no way to tie all the loose strings, Jody’s creativity and brilliance showed me wrong. Not only is the story well written, but it is also creative, well researched, and honors all the small details. Dawson’s transformation was truly powerful and redemptive. I loved the healing and growth demonstrated throughout his story. Philippa brings a lot of strength and balance to Dawson’s life. Her positive outlook is a soothing balm as he learns to see things in a new way. I enjoyed the fast pace of their story as it allowed for more of their dialogue and discovery of each other to be developed. It was wonderful to see some previous characters along the way and see how they all worked together to assist Dawson and Philippa. I would not have predicted the ending, but now, I would not see it working any other way. This was such an enjoyable and mesmerizing series. I recommend it with my highest level of satisfaction!! I received a complimentary copy from the author and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.
The Waters of Time series has been so much fun to read. These time-crossing stories have captivated me from the very beginning, and it is always so wonderful to be drawn back into this world.
Wait For Me is a great addition to the series! Obviously well-researched, and with such skilled storytelling I felt immersed in medieval England's customs and political intrigue and turmoil. It’s smartly written, fast-paced, with a wonderful romance, and a spellbinding plot that immediately hooked me from beginning to end.
Dawson and Philippa were great characters, and I especially liked the growth arc for Dawson. I’m so glad he got his story and happy ending. And as with all of Jody’s books, the faith element was beautiful and meaningful.
This is a book and series that I highly recommend.
Many thanks to the author for an ebook copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
Although I would not normally pick up a time-travel book to read, I have enjoyed books written by Jody Hedlund in other genres. I decided to check out her time-travel books. From the first one I read in this series, I have not been disappointed. I encourage reading them in sequence because each one builds on the previous. The hero of this story is the brother of the heroine of the last one. I suppose you would say Dawson played a supporting role in that story, although he certainly was not at all supportive of his sister and her endeavors. Now he deeply regrets the way he treated her and cannot figure out a way to make things right since she is gone forever. However, he inadvertently gets drawn in to pick up where she left off. I want to avoid giving away the direction this story takes, but I will say that it takes some very interesting twists from the previous stories. Suffice it to say Dawson finds a damsel in distress and takes chivalry to a new height as he seeks tirelessly for a way to rescue her. I understand that the parts of the story that took place in England in 1382 may not be totally true to the way things were really done back then. However, I enjoyed reading the fiction version which certainly contained at least a semblance of the way things were done centuries ago. The story was entertaining and contained life lessons that Philippa shared with Dawson as she sought to encourage him. I received an advance copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
Wait for me is a fitting conclusion to this series. I was SO glad to read Dawson’s story after first meeting him in book 3. Hold on to your seats because this story is a whirlwind, but marked with Jody’s always present sweet romance. ❤️
I’m not usually into time crossing, but I have loved this series! Two thumbs up!
I have to say this is one of favorite series but I was wondering if this book should come to a end, after reading this latest addition I think not. I almost think this book could have been another 200 pages longer to fit in all the author wanted for this book!! I’m not a fan of insta love but she wrote it well. The end felt rushed but all in all the book was a solid book full of adventure and romance. One thing about Jody Hedlund no one writes romance as well as Jody does. It is definitely an adult book but no smut involved. I so recommend this book to clean romance lovers. I wonder if there will be a book 5. I guess we need to wait and see. I’m passing this book on to a friend and she loving the series! Really worth the read!!
Once again we are back traveling through time with Jody's latest book Wait for Me. This third installment picks up where Book 3 left off. This one continues the story with Dawson who we meet in the previous book. We also meet new characters as Dawson travels to the past. I enjoyed meeting Phillipa and Dawson's mother in the past. I also enjoyed learning more about Dawson's past life and his friends and why he was so bitter towards life in general.
Although I thought the story was good I must admit it wasn't my favorite. I wasn't invested in Dawson like I was with the characters in book 1 and 2. I think that with each book the boundaries of my classification of a "clean" read. This book ramped up a bit more on the sensuality aspect. For me personally it wasn't a necessary component to the storyline. Another thing that bothered me is how it lacked any type of faith thread. Yes, God's name was thrown into it a few times but it never tied into an actual deep nugget of faith that left you with a sense that you were reading a Christian book by a Christian author. So I would definitely say that this was more a somewhat clean read.
Overall I gave this book a 3.5. I liked it but didn't love it. I think Mrs. Hedlund is an excellent writer and this doesn't deter me from reading her other books so if I were you definitely give the book a chance. You may just absolutely love it! This is is the beauty of reading... we don't all have to love the same book!
I received a copy of this book for review. I was not required to post a positive review. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
This book wrapped up the 4 book series nicely and I enjoyed how it was a little different than the other three. Nice little difference and made it fun.
It’s been close to a year since a read the first three books in this series, and it took me awhile to get into the story and remember some of the connections. Once I got there, I was all in. There was a lot of “steam” between this hero and heroine. They had to get their HEA. What wasn’t clear was how and where that HEA would happen. Loved reading to the end to find out.
Robin’s Ratings 5🌟 = Out of this world. Amazing. Unforgettable. A personal favorite. 4🌟 = Loved/really enjoyed it. Will recommend to others. 3🌟 = Liked it. Glad I read it. Engaging/entertaining/interesting. 2🌟 = The book was okay, but I’ve enjoyed other books so much more. 1🌟 = For whatever reason, I didn’t like it and can’t recommend it.
I love the wonderful Waters of Time series! Book 4 Wait for Me is my favorite book in the series so far. Once again Ms. Hedlund has created a powerful, believable time-crossing tale. The smoothly flowing plot kept my attention with enthralling suspense. Thanks to amazing detailed storytelling, I was totally immersed in the expertly sketched Medieval setting and the compelling action. Well-crafted characters captured my imagination and kept me intensively invested in the outcome. I appreciate the inspiring life lessons. Passionate, but clean, romance adds a sweet layer to the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it especially for fans of time-crossing and historical romance. Note: Although this book can easily be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the previous books in the series first for a fuller understanding of the premise of the story. I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher with no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I enjoyed this final book in the series. The time travel element was unique and nicely constructed. It was beautiful to see closure to Dawson's troubling story from the previous book. The romance was relatively quick, but the author addresses that aspect in her notes at the end. Overall, it might not have been my favorite in the series, it was still entertaining and romantic.
I had just finished the previous book when my hold on this one became available. So, I picked it up. At the end of it all, I think we all know and recognize that Jody Hedlund can write great stories. When I look at this book as an individual, it's not bad. It's actually pretty good, and it's written quite well. It's better than the third book in this series, with way less lusting going on between the MMC and FMC.
That said, when I compare this to the previous books in the series, it's not very unique. The same character archetypes are reused, and each book blends into one. In each, you'll find a compassionate, stunningly beautiful woman that all men lust after, and all she wants is to be seen for who she is. Then there's the honorable, insanely masculine man who respects said woman, and he's totally set apart from all other depraved men because he won't push her to sleep with him before she's ready. Throw them together in a medieval marriage of convenience where they both long for each other (and they let us know about it), and voila! You've got the basic premise of the books in this series. The first was the best because everything was new and fresh. Then, each successive book gradually loses creativity and essentially becomes a rehashing of the other.
Anyway, this book was good enough, though it's not really a standout amongst everything that's out there. If you're good with the plot taking a firm backseat while the romance drives 100 mph down the road, you'll probably enjoy this. I was able to enjoy the story more when I came to that realization. I wasn't expecting there to be any real plot movement except for the romance. If you love this world and love the characters, you'll love this novel. Despite the issues I have with it, I can recognize that it's well-written and even sweet at times. Though I wish the ending wasn't so abrupt.
Content Clean romance with some kisses, longing, and attraction. Mild peril, mild violence. No swearing.
I liked both Dawson and Philippa’s characters. The story was much more exciting and captivating than the last book but the end was too abrupt and needed an epilogue. It was great to visit characters from past stories. There were som loose ends I felt could have been tied up better. I would like to see a fifth book in the series about Joanna and perhaps things could be wrapped up there.
3.5 🌟 Man, I was really looking forward to this one & felt let down by the too-rushed romance. I liked the 2 MCs but their relationship didnt build at all. The ending was good though!
Holy water with healing qualities and time-altering abilities! This fourth book of the Waters of Time series offers another amazing adventure that transports readers from modern times back to the Middle Ages in the search for this miraculous water. Wait for Me has thrilling suspense, modern-day terrorists, and an unexpected twist that adds a whole new dynamic. There's also a romance that is totally captivating! The attraction between Dawson and Philippa is instant and the chemistry is intense, but author Jody Hedlund never crosses the line in this sweetly romantic but totally clean romance. Is there a future for Dawson and Philippa, or are they doomed to be star-crossed lovers?
I didn't think that this series could get any better, but I was totally wrong! Hedlund excels in creating dashing heroes and beautiful heroines, but she also shows their realistic human failings. Her time travel is both plausible and enjoyable, and she never fails to provide a thought-provoking faith message! I highly recommend Wait for Me for fans of romantic Christian fiction.
I received a complimentary copy from the author. There was no obligation for a favorable review.
Except for the second book, I have dearly loved this series! It is so interesting and masterfully written! I also fell in love with the characters! The last two books were definitely my favorite, (I think the third will always be my favorite) I just loved all these characters! They had such great stories and personalities. It was all very well written. I have loved the concept of this series and desperately hope that Jody Hedlund will write more books in this series, if not then the next best thing I can hope for would be another series very close to this one!
I loved Dawson in this book and being able to see the rest of this story! The only downside of this book I would say is how sensual it was, I know people were saying that about book three but I think this one was even more so then the last one. So while it was still clean, I personally think it would have been just as enjoyable if not more so if that had been toned down some. I think the most disappointing thing was the two uses of the word s**. While it was mentioned in the bounds of marriage I personally wish it hadn’t been in there. I know it may sound childish, but I am personally just a very conservative person and like the way the author has danced around the word in the past. It probably comes down to preference and some people don’t mind reading it, I am just one of those people who would rather have the characters not mention it. One other thing I must add is that I feel like God us just thrown into the book at awkward moments to make it a ‘Christian’ book. Since I am a Christina myself and love reading Christian writings and books by Christian authors, but I just felt like with this one God was just through in as an after though and not really an important aspect of the characters lives.
Despite it all I still love the series!
Trigger warnings: -Terrorists -Sensual -mention of mistresses -A man trying to come onto a woman (The man was NOT Dawson, and the woman was saved in the end.) -Two uses of the word s**
Loved this story and the extra sizzling attraction between the main characters. Fabulously twisty plot with soaring highs and heart-rending lows. Although I would suggest previewing the romantic elements for conservative young adults and teens, I highly recommend this series.
