Geras akcentas serijos uzbaigimui.

Okay, but not one of Susan Mallery's better books. This s the fourth in the Buchanan series and have read the first, and really enjoyed it. Based on what I previously read about Dani and what was disclosed to have happened to her since, this story had so much more potential. To have a love interest (whom I really liked) that just happened to be her long lost fathers adopted son was just plain weird. Also, the "Gloria" turnaround seemed too insincere and too unbelieable based on previous behavior.

I still will read (or listen to) books 2 and 3 since I do like this series in general. I read them out of orde as I was able to pick this up on an audible bargain. (Audible seems to be the only place to find Susan Mallery's stories in audio format. Terese Plummer does a nice job reading these.

Another sweetly romantic Susan Mallery book. I just have an overall love of this author's sense of humor and writing style. I've listened to all of her books on audio, and she has the best reader (Therese Plummer on most of her books) that never fails to bring all the characters to life and makes her books unfold before my very ears.

This one was the last book of the Buchanan series, and one of my favorites (Dani's story). Losts of touching moments and worthy side stories. Of course she brought back all the other Buchanans, and in the epilogue we get to witness Walker and Alyssa's wedding. Awww!

If you like straight contemporary romance with lots of witty dialogue and just plenty of feel good characters . . . try Susan Mallery for an easy, quick and pleasant read. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

3.5/5

This was going to be my favorite except there were all these stupid remarks reinforcing traditional gender stereotypes. It's basically 2019 and I'm not here for that shit. Also Danny did something really stupid and immature at the end that pissed me off. I have loved Danny from book 1 so I had more hope for her. Gloria again is a shining star in this and if you had told me I'd like her by the end of the series during book 1 or 2, I would've eaten a rock.

I liked seeing Danny become a part of her dad's family and befriending all her adopted siblings. I also liked the parallel story of Katherine and Mark, even though Katherine did something so stupid during the middle of this. The romance was decent if slightly cheesy.

Ever since finding out that she is not a real Buchanan, Dani has felt like the odd man out. She's tried to find her father, and through her grandmother, she has finally found him: Mark Canfield, Senator and potential presidental candidate. When she finally works up the courage to go see him, Dani is confronted by Alex Canfield. The senator's adopted son and self-proclaimed gatekeeper/dragon. From the start, the two clash but there is that attraction in the back of their minds. However, Alex is inclined to treat Dani like the enemy until he can prove or disprove her claim of being the senator's daughter. That first night, Dani goes to the Canfield house, as she was invited by Mark Canfield to dinner. All goes well and she ends up loving the rest of the children. A few days later, Alex reveals that she is in fact Canfield's daughter. Once he accepts her, Dani and Alex realize that they actually like each other and they begin to get to know one another. After an incident including Alex, a reporter, and Alex's sister Bailey, Alex turns to Dani, the one person he wanted to see and talk to. Their passion for each other spikes and they give into their feelings for each other.

Dani and Alex continue to get to know each other and share their hard pasts with one another, pasts that they had kept secret and to themselves. They become close and start realizing their true feelings for each other. However, it is all ruined in one moment of doubt: Fiona, Alex's ex-wife, tells Dani that Alex had secretly been seeing both of them at the same time and had managed to get Fiona pregnant. Considering her bad past with men, Dani believed her and when she confronted Alex, succeeded in pushing him away. After a violent encounter involving Dani, Bailey, and three boys under the influence, Dani ended up in the hospital and she and Alex realized that their pride and misunderstandings got in the way of their relationship and they needed to work together to make it better. Not long after, Alex informs his mother that he won't be participating in his father's political campaign anymore and that he loves Dani and wanted to marry her. The next day, the day he was planning on proposing to her, Dani announces to him that she's leaving Seattle because she didn't want to cause anymore harm to those she loved. She expects him to be sad about her leaving, and he surprises her with his anger and accusations of running from the problem; he leaves and she doesn't stop him. Katherine Canfield convinces her husband to stop the campaign for presidency and he agrees. Alex goes to Reid for support of an intervention for Dani, to convince her not to leave. On the day she's packing to go, he comes to Gloria's house with his parents and all three of her brothers and tells her he understands that she as scared, that he loves her, that he wants to marry her, and that she is the only person who makes him feel like he belongs anywhere.

In the end, we leave off at Walker and Elissa's wedding, the anticipated event that's planned throughout the whole book. Lori and Reid are married ahead of time due to an unexpected pregnancy. And, Alex and Dani so in love and planning their own wedding. With each Buchanan sibling living happily ever.

Tempting is only the second Buchanan novel that I have read, but it's my favorite so far. I thought it was even better that Sizzling, which I loved. The passion between Alex and Dani was a tangible presence in the room with me when I read this book. I loved how they could fight with each other and then apologize and banter after all the misconceptions were cleared away.

Alex Canfield was the cutest thing. I loved him from the beginning and continued to do so, when he went from dragon-boy to senator's son to devoted brother and family man to passionate lover to finacée. He was always honest with those he dealt with, especially those he loved, and always wanted to do things the right way. I liked that about him because there are a lot of people who just want to do things in the way that benefit them instead of facing the consequences of their actions, justified or not. I'm not exactly sure how to explain why, but he was just one of the most refreshing, interesting male characters I've read in a while.

I liked Dani Buchanan when I read Sizzling but now I love her. Despite her complaining sometimes, I felt that Dani was a very strong woman, stronger than she knew. I loved her big heart; she was willing to leave the place she belonged and the family that she loved just to stop hurting them; she did everything she could to show those she loved just how much she loved and appreciated them, particularly with regards to Bailey when they went shoe shopping and when she protected her from the teenage boys that would try to rape an innocent girl just because she was different. The only thing that drove me crazy about Dani was the fact that she believed Fiona's lies about Alex and didn't trust him when he denied them; that broke my heart.

I was literally in tears when I was reading Dani tell Alex she was leaving. And because I knew he loved her and was going to propose, that just made it all the worse. I actually started crying a little bit. (An embarrassing prospect when you are at work, I might add.)

Bailey, Ian, and all the other Canfield children were so adorable and I loved them all. I kind of wish I could jump into the book and be their long lost sibling, too. (Who knows, maybe I'd get someone as sexy as Alex, too ;)

Walker continues to be my favorite Buchanan brother, although I do love Cal and Reid also. For some reason, I just find it extraordinarily sexy that Walker is an ex-Marine, and I love the fact that when something goes wrong or someone does something wrong, everyone says something like "Tell Walker! He'll fix it!" Likewise, I loved that the females of the series were in the book quite a bit. I always hate when characters show up in their book and then are practically nonexistent in the rest of the series. However, I never seem to have that problem with Susan Mallery's writing.

In a way, I am sorry to see this series end, but I still haven't read the first two books. So the series isn't technically over for me. Oh the joy! I can't wait for Walker's and Cal's books, even though I should have been saying that long before I even read Reid's and Dani's books.

3.5 stars.

After reading Delicious (Buchanans #1), I jumped to book 4 because I find Dani's story more interesting than Walker and Reid's. LOL! You have to admit that no one can top her situation, she was cheated by her paraplegic husband and also found out through Gloria (in a very unpleasant way), that she's not a Buchanan. After Dani's divorce, she never had any luck on her succeeding relationships. Feeling lost, Dani is determined to find her biological father. When she found out that Mark Canfield, a senator, is her biological father, she immediately sought him. On her way to meet his father, she was intercepted by the handsome guy who happened to be his father's oldest adopted son. Too bad she can't act on her attraction on him because it might affect his father's campaign for presidency. Also, Alex' ex-wife couldn't let him go and his adoptive mother Katherine isn't very happy with Dani's addition to the Canfield family.

This was a good read. I liked the chemistry between Alex and Dani. I also loved the Canfield family! All 8 Canfield children were adopted. Some have physical disabilities and diseases... still, they are a fun bunch and really good kids. I was surprised with Gloria's change. I guess it's my fault for jumping immediately to the fourth book, but, I loved Gloria in this book! Gloria was there for Dani when the press started camping on her door, and she was also there to listen to Dani's relationship problems. There are very few interaction with the Buchanan brothers in this book, I think this is because the story is more on about Dani trying to fit in to her new family, which is the Canfields. We also see the happily ever afters of the characters from the first 3 books. I loved the epilogue!

I'll read Walker's book next. =D

I'm beginning to think there's nothing Susan Mallery can write that is going to impress me. It's the fourth book I've read after the Fools Gold Almost trilogy, and I just can't get into her. The plot on this was meh, and the characters were meh. I liked Katherine, who wasn't even a main. The two leads were just...eh. Dani felt extremely wishy washy. She was just too good, and when she wasn't too good to be true, she was dishwater. Alex never quite captured my attention because I just never understood where he was coming from. I just...didn't quite connect. I rated it as okay because there were no overt flaws in the book. Everything connected from A to B and I can't fault Mallery because her characters don't connect to me. It's just a reader thing.

Hal yang kurang aku suka juga mostly it is about the politics things, campaign, and presidential election sih, itu yang bikin bosen.

AND THE FREAKING PART IS, YOU KNOW WHAT, there is so many AUAUAUAU scenes bruh, ini mah kek versi cerita wattpad at first I was like, oh paling mentok biasanya ciuman sih, AND I DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING, ELAH BIKIN PENGEN AJAAA saranku untuk para bocil kematian diharap jangan membaca buku ini, trims.

Jujur, pribadi cowo kayak Alex emang tipeku banget oyyyy, tapi plot dan jalan cerita yang menurutku kurang mendukung, jadinya ga menikmati deh, kecuali adegan peranuannya doang xixixi.

This is the 4th in the Buchanan series. But only the second that I have read and now I'm obsessed about getting the others. So I guess you can say that I loved this book. Susan Mallery is a smart and funny writer and a joy to read.

Dani Buchanan is a woman that believed all of her life that she was a Buchanan, but recently she found out that she isn't. She is the daughter of a US Senator that is running for President. She is scared to death about meeting him but overcomes her fear and try's to get past the several people that protect him. When she gets to the last person she finds a man that she finds that she loves to verbally spar with.

Alex is a man that is trying to put on a tough face for this funny woman that want's to see his adoptive father. But she is getting under his skin a little. She is beautiful and with the mouth on her he can tell that she is smart. But when she says that she needs to see the Senator because he is her Father he is imeadiately suspicious. What does she want? Noteriety? Money? He doesn't know, but he plans to check her out and figure out her ploy. He isn't going to allow her to hurt his family!

Once dani meets her Father she finds that he is an ambitious man, but not as open and loving as she had hoped. But his family is really something. Alex is the oldest but he has seven younger siblings, all adopted, all special needs. His Mother is a Saint! Or at least everyone thinks so, including Dani.

As time goes on Dani is thrown in to the Public arena. The press follow her and even coerce one of the children to tell about her while they lure them with a Puppy. While Alex is sceptical of Dani he is still attracted to her at the same time. He can't seem to avoid his feelings toward her. And eventually they act on their attraction. But the press are there to get the story. How embarressing! Now she isn't only the love child of the Senator, but she is also having a sexual relationship with her adoptive brother. Sheesh!

Working through all of these Family dynamics and her personal feelings is tough. wWill she be able to work through this seige by the press? And what should she do about Alex? Give this little book a try and find out.

I feel like giving the book 2,5 stars but I am in a good mood so ...yeah...

Anyway, I was so excited to read this book after the last 2 books in Susan Mallery's Buchanan series were quite good but this excitement left already after a few pages. :( I confess, the beginning was funny! After that, it went down the drain. Like really...

It's like nothing really happened at all. No highlights, no nothing! I expected the book to be at least a bit funnier but even that was a huge disappointment. Maybe it was because I found all the characters way too blah and meh. They were flat and boring. Especially Dani's new family which could have been described way better/more interesting. I thought Mark was a stupid idiot and I still didn't get Katherine's behavior. The woman was a) way too good to be true and b) didn't react reasonable AT ALL.
Plus, the hero and heroine were boring, too. I expected Dani to be way more interesting. Alex was OK-ish most of the time. Still...

But what bugged me the most was the ending! I had like 50 pages left and from there on the major headdesk-ing began. Seriously, if you don't have anything left to tell the readers (not that there was much to start!) then write the ending! Just giving the readers more pages of bullshit is annoying!!!
And when I had 30 pages left I was practically rolling my eyes and throwing my head against the pillow on every.damn.page. WTF! WTF! WTF! Dani turned from this woman who could have been awesome to a whiny girl with stupidness all over her brain. I was so frustrated of her behavior I wanted to smack her. All of a sudden she thinks running away helps? Seriously?! Girl, like nobody would have noticed you in LA f.e. Seriously, she thinks she is so smart and then she does such bs. I was so annoyed, you had no idea.

The ending itself was OK-ish. A bit too meh and too oh my god let us be one happy family but whatever!

I am seriously disappointed and I get why I prefer paranormal romance books over contemparary lately because this whining ending and the stupid behavior of the female characters are bugging me!

Man...

Soal romansa, Dani termasuk kurang beruntung. Tiga kali dikecewakan pria, membuatnya berhati-hati. Tapi pesona Alex susah ditepis.

3.5 Stars, rounded up.

Susan Mallery is my go-to for contemporary romance novels! I adore her writing, and have yet to meet a character/story I don't just adore! The Buchanan's have earned a special place in my heart now that I've finished this series!

I have loved following Dani through the series, and was excited to see her storyline wrap up! I'm so glad that she found her biological father, although I have to admit that I was disappointed with him as a whole. But his family? I loved them all, and was so glad that they embraced Dani so fully.

I also have to say that I loved Gloria in this, I loved that she pushed Dani to be a better person, and that her turn around has come full circle.

I do have to say that I was a bit disappointed in a few things. First and foremost, the lack of Buchanan interaction! (Come on, we didn't even really get to "see" Walker!!) I thought the other three books had done so much to intertwine the family, and this one just left them hanging. I also didn't care for Alex being Dani's brother, even if it was only by adoption... That was a bit too close for comfort for my liking.

In the end? I loved Tempting, although I really felt like it was it's own book and not so much part of the Buchanan series.

VERY low 3

This book was difficult to rate. It definitely started out strong, but the story completely lost me at about the half way mark. The father was just not fleshed out as a character. It seemed like he was being set up to be a villain, and then at the last moment he pulled a 180 and all of a sudden became a model husband and a great father. You can't just create a character to be that flawed and then switch his personality to fit the happy ending of the book.

Speaking of characters that were not fleshed out, the main characters were weird. They both kept changing to fit whatever plot point the author wanted to depict. Dani literally had no spine. Her and Alex kept fighting about the same thing and it wasn't even a real problem. It was basically just her being insecure constantly. She is the epitome of what annoys me in a main character. I felt like Alex's mother was the only complex and real character (although her insane love and devotion to her husband came off as odd).

Lastly, the pacing of the second half was strange. All of a sudden, after only knowing each other for a short period of time and only having dated for maybe a week or two, they're ready for marriage??? I just can't understand where that came from. This book just left me confused and disappointed.

This is a great book. I haven't read the previous Buchanan books, but this one stands perfectly well on its own. The plot is perfectly constructed, deceptively simple yet never boring. And all the characters are fun to read. Best of all, the chemistry between the two main characters, Dani and Alex, is convincing and highly entertaining. The attraction between these two comes alive off of the page and, despite their relatively brief acquaintance, you can really see them fall for each other as the pages progress.

Of course, there's much more going on than just the romance between Dani and Alex. There's several relationships portrayed here, romantic and familial, and each one is wonderful story in itself. I particularly enjoyed reading about Alex's mother, Katherine, who is a very well-developed character. Her emotions, above all others, come across in a rich way.

Susan Mallery just may be a new favorite, if all her books are as delightful as this one.

I was down Memory Lane with the first book, so I decided to revisit this one too, mostly because I remembered it as way to crazy for me (the whole political race was just too much, Katharine said something about bad 1980s soap and yeah. That's the vibe I got, I kept seeing the whole family as extras from Santa Barbara). But I remember liking the mother-son relationship, the deep bond between Dani and her brothers, and the way Dani and Alex would gently joke when they were together (like.. together together).

I am not crazy of the whole "character who's a monster in the beginning is actually really caring and loved in the end" but her, I had a good time.

I find the political world artificial in some ways, so the politics in this book was off-putting and possibly accurate. I wouldn't know. I steer as far from politics as I can, and so could appreciate Dani's dilemma. The aspects concerning family and special-needs children were wonderful. I loved Katherine and enjoyed Dani more than in the other three books together. Mark, as Dani thinks, is a bit distant. Alex, on the other hand, is fantastic, if a bit proud for my tastes. And Gloria, Dani's grandmother, is finally a character I can appreciate. Lovely series about the Buchanan family with all their ups and downs.

I liked the storyline of this book. Dani's search for her birth father, him being a politician with a big adopted family, Alex and Dani's attraction, the father not being perfect etc. The themes were quite dense and interesting, especially the story when it is centered around Alex's mom, she is a very interesting character.

I real page turner and it is nice to see a Buchanan lady who is as sexy as her brothers.

The Saga Continues

I love Susan Mallery and this book continues the tradition of being a totally enjoyable read with characters we come to care for and the choices they make. The only reason I gave it only four stars was because the idea a man considering a presidential run, a man who had yet to be in a primary could have children who could engender such interest from the press, just does not ring true. Still, it is a fun novel for "escape" reading!

Mallery's books are just fine. They're the literary version of a scoop of vanilla ice cream - enjoyable but also predictable and sort of bland. #itsnotyouitsme - I'm sure other readers enjoy them more than I do.
