Oh what a sweet book! I just loved it! Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy are three angels that have been sent to Earth to answer several prayers before Christmas Eve. Carter has been begging for a dog but his parents have refused for financial reasons. Joyce has been praying for her daughter to find a husband. Harry wants to secure his wife's future by securing a unit in a senior's assisted living home before he dies but his wife is unwilling to move. All of these prayers were answered in miraculous ways. I want to read more of these charming stories.

Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy are back on Earth, and they each have a task, that is, a miracle to accomplish. But there are restraints even on angels, and they must abide by the rules. This delightful novel tells the stories of three different people, what they prayed for, and what happened when the angels got to work. Since it is a Debbie Macomber Christmas book, readers of her books will probably guess how it ends. Still, it is a quick and lovely book to read, at Christmas time or any time.

Where Angels Go is the sixth book in Debbie Macomber’s Angels Everywhere series featuring the mischievous angel trio of Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy. The last couple of books in the series only had a single storyline that all three angels worked on together, but this one takes the series back to its roots with each angel working on a different case and occasionally coming together to offer advice. As always, the archangel Gabriel is overwhelmed with prayer requests during the holiday season, so he decides to send Prayer Ambassadors Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy to handle three of them. In the beginning this threesome often got into trouble, but over time, Gabriel has come to trust them more and rely on them in spite of the mischief they can sometimes get into.

Mercy is sent to work with elderly couple Harry and Rosalie. Harry has a bad heart and knows that his time on Earth is drawing to a close, and according to his doctor, it could be any day. With Rosalie becoming more forgetful, he wants to make sure that she’s taken care of when he passes on. He’s found a nice assisted living facility where many of their old friends now live, but convincing Rosalie to move out of the home they’ve shared for most of their lives is proving to be difficult. Harry asks for divine intervention to help Rosalie come to terms with it, so that he can pass on with peace of mind. This is a bittersweet little story, sweet because of how much Harry and Rosalie still love each other after all their many years together, but bitter because the life they’ve shared is about to end. I admired their devotion to one another and shed a few tears at the end even though I knew what was coming and it was rendered as gently as possible.

Gabriel receives a prayer request from Beth’s mother that she’ll be able to move on from her divorce and find a man to share her life with, and he tasks Goodness with making it happen. Beth got married young, and the couple’s shared immaturity prematurely ended their union. However, despite nine years having passed, Beth still finds it difficult to move on and hasn’t had much luck dating other men. For the last several months, she’s been involved in online gaming, playing World of Warcraft, where she’s found the perfect game partner. When her mother starts pestering her about bringing a guy home for Christmas, Beth starts to wonder if Peter, the man she’s been playing the game with, could be a potential life partner as well. They begin sharing more personal information, and when she discovers that he lives in Seattle, too, they make plans to meet in person. But upon coming face-to-face, she realizes he’s someone she already knows and isn’t sure a relationship will work out after all. Out of the three stories in this book, this is the only one that has a more traditional romance plot. But despite that, I think it may have been my least favorite. It’s not that I didn’t like. I did, but somehow it seemed a little underdeveloped for a romance. The magic that the angels bring to the story made it a bit more believable, but IMHO, there still wasn’t quite enough time for Beth and Peter to really come to a reconciliation. There also weren’t enough pages to develop a deep emotional connection between them.

The final storyline is Shirley’s. She’s sent to Earth to answer the prayer of Carter, a little boy who desperately wants a dog for Christmas. His parents have been promising him one, but due to financial hardships, they’ve had to, once again, turn him down. Then Carter finds a stray dog on the playground at school, which he names Rusty. The dog miraculously follows him home, and he thinks that if he pleads his case, his parents might let him keep Rusty. Unfortunately his dad is adamant that Rusty will have to go to the shelter, but Rusty’s heroic actions just might change his mind. This was a super-sweet story, that while somewhat predictable, ended up being my favorite. Maybe it’s because I’m a sucker for animal stories and cute kids, but I found this one to be rather charming.

As always, Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy can’t help themselves when it comes to their whimsical natures. They pull a couple of harmless pranks, all in good fun, but overall, they’ve matured as the series has progressed, learning to rely more on Gabriel and God when things aren’t going according to plan. Overall, Where Angels Go was an enjoyable trio of stories that kicked off my holiday-themed reading nicely. I look forward to seeing what trouble they might get into next in the final book of the series, Angels at the Table, but I’ll probably save it for next Christmas.

I think I liked this story better than the previous Angel book I read by this author. Our three angels are sent to Earth to answer three different prayers - a boy who wants a dog, a Mum who wants her daughter to find love and a dying man who wants his wife settled in a home before he goes. All of them are granted, but maybe in surprising ways. Nothing hugely original, but a nice entertaining read during the festive season.

This was in one of my local little libraries that are scattered around my neighborhood. It jumped out at me as the perfect foil for all the really serious books I've been reading. And it was. I loved the mischievous angels, the internet romance and the scruffy dog. Just what I needed to cleanse my reading palate.

I love Christmas books, and must have been feeling the need to read one when I saw this at the library. The story follows 3 angels who are on different missions to get done before Christmas. It was cute, and I almost cried at the end. Being an angel isn't as easy as people think it is.

This was a nice, short, feel-good read!

Get into the Christmas spirit with this one! It follows three different Prayer Ambassadors (angels) as they navigate three drastically different situations here on earth.

One story follows an elderly man as he realizes his time is coming to an end and he just wants his wife to be taken care of once he is gone. Another story brings us on a journey of forgiveness as a couple finds their way back to each other. The final story is a heartwarming tale of a young boy and his desire of getting a dog for Christmas.

This book gave an interesting insight to how angels come to humans and help them out here on Earth. Not getting theological on it or anything, but it’s a nice sentiment!

There are three separate stories that happen simultaneously in this book. All three are similar to stories in a Hallmark movie, but there is also some strong angelic intervention in each separate plot. This is an enjoyable book with a strong Christmas theme. That is what I enjoyed about the book. There was only one thing that I did not enjoy about the book. Believe it or not, it was the synopsis that was printed on the back cover of the book! It gave away too much information and ruined one of the three stories for me! (Sigh.)

An honest 5 stars for this one. This is probably the fastest I’ve read one of her books—or any book in general. I finished it in FOUR hours.

I love this series and love revisiting these silly, well meaning angels Shirley, Goodness and Mercy. I think this may be my favorite in the entire series so far. These are definitely ones I will continue to reread for future Christmastimes.

This was a delightful read. I enjoyed having Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy back on the job being Prayer Ambassador angels, and trying to answer 3 humans' heartfelt prayers in time for Christmas. There were twists and turns that I certainly did not see coming, and a point where I wondered if the angels' missions would be successful, but it altogether, it was a satisfying, lighthearted read.

This book was on the best sellers list so I just download it. It is a series of stories about three different famailies needing the intervention from three angels from Heaven above, Shirley, Goodness and Mercy. These three angels love helping people who send prayer requests to Heaven and go wherever they are needed on Earth. The three angels sometimes find themselves in trouble but eveyrthing works out for the best, especially at Christmas time. Read and Enjoy-I read it in one day.

This book has a couple of interesting story plots..
One is about a older gentleman trying to make sure his wife is happy before he passes away.
The other story is about a lady who meets a gentleman on the internet, in a game room, and he lives in her hometown!
I really enjoy all of Debbie Macombers books!

This series is an adorable pick-me-up. The whole time I was reading this installment, I was thinking, "Fours stars!" Until I got to the last chapter... I was disappointed and won't get into reasons why as they are spoilers. But in a nutshell, the outcomes for 2/3 of the prayer requests totally blow and would make for the worst Christmases for the characters.

3 angels come to earth to answer prayers. They solve the problems and everyone gets a happy ending.
This was my first time reading a Debbie Macomber book and it was exactly like I expected. A light, fun read, perfect to complete a reading challenge.
The writing is easy and the situations are predictable but also fun. I found no major flaws in the story.

This was a fun light holiday read. It has three plot lines, and one pretty major plot twist. Usually my family teases me about my love for fluffy reads like this, but this time when I was sharing one plot line with them, my daughter actually asked me to read ahead and read those chapters aloud for her. It was one of the more interesting plot twists I've seen Macomber use in awhile.

Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy are back—and as usual, they’ve got zero chill when it comes to fixing human problems. In Where Angels Go, Debbie Macomber gives us another round of holiday miracles (and mishaps) as her favorite angels take on three very human prayers—because, apparently, if you want something done on Earth, you send the angels who definitely won’t follow the rules.

This time, Mercy is assigned to an elderly man desperate for peace of mind—but when his prayer gets answered in a way he never expected, he has to face more than he bargained for. Goodness is keeping an eye on a young woman too afraid to love again, trying to nudge her toward giving her heart a second chance. And Shirley? She’s trying to pull off a little boy’s deepest Christmas wish—which sounds sweet until you realize nothing goes smoothly when these three are involved.

What makes this book shine is how Macomber balances humor and heart. Sure, the angels cause chaos (because what would they be if they didn’t bend every heavenly rule?), but under all the antics are real, relatable struggles—grief, fear, loneliness. These people are stuck in their pain, and while the angels may be sneaky about it, their mission is ultimately about healing and hope.

And yes—this totally works as a standalone, even if you’ve never met Macomber’s angels before. You don’t need any background to enjoy watching them meddle their way toward a happy ending. That said, be prepared for a feel-good, fast-resolution story—this isn’t about deep, drawn-out drama. It’s about Christmas miracles arriving right on time, whether the humans involved are ready or not.

Where Angels Go is a solid 4 out of 5 stars—a funny, warm, and uplifting story that delivers everything you want from a Christmas angel book. If you’re in the mood for angels who make a mess before they make things right, and for holiday magic that leaves you smiling, this is the perfect pick for your Christmas reading list.

I’m not sure where to start with this book or where to finish. I’m just going to wing it a little because this book had me crying like a baby for the better part of it so I don’t know if I liked it or not!
This book brings back those three wayward angels Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy. With the three comes three wishes. Shirley is sent to give a little boy a Christmas wish he really longs for. Goodness is sent to help a young woman with fear of commitment after a bad relationship open up and love again. Mercy is here to bring the peace an elderly man needs before he passes on from this world.
The three angels have their work cut out for them and each one becomes truly invested into their cases even if they aren’t necessarily supposed to get as close as they do. In the end, things usually work out…
This book is very good but it’s so incredibly sad. I guess if you have a very strong faith, aren’t in the midst of living around or among an elderly person, or are just not a sappy person, this book might not make you bawl like a big baby through most of it! It’s a very good story but it was also very hard to read. I did like it though and if you are reading all of these books in this series then you will definitely not want to miss this one. It’s just not exactly an easy one when it comes to certain aspects!

This was a heartwarming Debbie Macomber trademark book and I loved it. I love reading Christmas stories even if it’s not yet the Yuletide season and Where Angels Go is definitely one of the best angel stories I’ve read. Yes, it’s Christmas in September, I’m way ahead of the celebration but I don’t care. To me, every day of the year is Christmas!

When I read this book, I didn’t know that Shirley, Goodness & Mercy were already featured in Macomber’s previous books. Now I wanna read them all of them!

I love the positive vibes that the three naughty angels have brought to each of those who needed them.Three prayer requests, three different benefactors – a young boy prays for a pet dog; an elderly man prays for the welfare of his wife when he dies; and a Mother’s prayers for her daughter to find true love.

It’s a perfect story about Angels, Families and Relationship with God. After reading, three heartfelt lessons were learned – the act of giving, forgiving & loving. Truly, Debbie captured my heart with her “angelic” moments and I can’t help but sigh after reading this. Wait, actually, I cried buckets of tears with this one and I’m not shy to admit it. I really love this book.

I almost stopped reading this one about 2/3 of the way in-- instead I skimmed the rest of the way. I wish I could rely on this author more, because I have enjoyed some of her books (Blossom Street series) a bit better. I won't read any more of her angel books-- they're just too light and fluffy, and the telling falters over her attempts to develop the angels as characters. I find it easy to confuse the three, and anecdotes that she writes to be playful antics on their part are just silly and pointless. In this novel, each of the three angels was given a different task, and all three developed slowly and were too drawn-out. They might have worked better as individual short stories or novellas.

A quick read novella featuring Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy. This Christmas novella focused on Harry, and elderly gentleman, nearing the end of his life whose Christmas prayer was to see his wife settled in an assisted living home before he died; Carter a 9 year old boy whose prayer was to have a dog of his own; and, finally, Marybeth who needed to get past her divorce and find love again.

Once again the three angels are notorious for their hilarity, getting into troublesome situations, and creating chaos. But, in the end, they are able to answer each of their humans prayers in just the right way.

I was pleased that this was another one of this series that was a clean read.

Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy are back! They are each assigned a special prayer request that ends up being more difficult than they imagined. You'll cry, you'll laugh, and you'll be cheering for everyone to have a happily ever after, even when the circumstances are sad and seem hopeless. Shirley, Goodness and Mercy will make sure to fulfill the prayer requests even if they have to meddle a bit to make everything turn out right. The narrator for this book handled multiple voices, bringing lots of heart and soul to the characters. The pacing was good and made the drive to and from work very entertaining.
