Based on the Responsive Classroom approach, this book offers some solid strategies for dealing with problem behaviors that disrupt the classroom. I will definately use the strategies in this book in my classroom. Most of all, I love that she uses the students themselves in her problem solving strategies. Children are more invested in the success of a strategy if they were involved in the decision making process for it.
This book provides useful, pragmatic strategies for dealing with students who are having difficult times. It reminds a teacher of just how many different tools s/he has to use, and when each works best.
It makes me feel old when non-fiction, textbooks, are what I am reviewing on goodreads. But this is a textbook that I am actually keeping. I really enjoyed reading it and what to apply all of the ideas that I read into my classroom. A recommendation for constructivist teachers.
