The last page tells us there are hidden images on each page. We didn't find them.
I love the warm and joyful art in this book. The story is rhyming verse and I felt like it lost the rhyming scheme in the middle.
My nephew has always been crazy for snowmen, so he loves this book. He wanted to read it over and over.

A neat rhyming story of what snowmen do to celebrate Christmas. I liked the creativity of the verses and the illustrations are gorgeous, made even more fun because in each full-page painting, Buehner hides a cat, rabbit, Santa face, T-Rex, and little brown mouse. Darned if I couldn't find a few, I'll have to study them when the boys are sleeping.
A wonderful holiday story that I would pick up each year to read!
Update in 2021: Got to read it to a group of high schoolers today as they sipped hot cocoa and we loved every minute of it.

My 3 year old daughter finally "got" Christmas this year and has all been about reading any and all Christmas books. While loving classics such as How the Grinch Stole Christmas! & The Polar Express), she is happy with any book that's about Christmas.
So when I came upon this one at my library, I grabbed it. The pictures are PRETTY
The story is about how the snowmen people make outside in their yards come alive on Christmas Eve and all get together to celebrate their own Christmas holiday. A notion that could easily be scary or creepy but it works. My daughter just loved it. Super cute story.

Combined mother-daughter review. I bought this one after Christmas for some continued Christmas reading and for next year's Christmas reads. We loved it! This is a great rhyming read aloud. My daughter and I really enjoyed the whimsical art. We especially liked the added details and search and find. We found the hidden mouse on every page. We also found hidden pictures on a couple of pages. A wonderful adorable Christmas collection add.

The cover was so cute with all of the snowmen lined up in different clothes. There was a cowboy and one with a sombrero, one with a Santa hat and one playing a violin.
This book asks the question what snowmen do to celebrate the holiday. This one wasn't as good as the first one. It was slow to start. At first they didn't do anything but go down the street and look in windows, and greet their friends and family. Then they decorated the square, which begged the question of how they got all of those decorations and a ladder. When they hung snowballs from the tree I was like what? Why would they do that?
It was too alike to the first book in that the mothers make the food. In here they had ice cream and snow cones instead of cold cocoa. Here again, the mothers are the only ones making the food while everyone else does other stuff, which is bothersome.
They were all cute forming two lines facing each other, with their arms raised, so two dancers could go down the middle.
The snowman Santa might have been too much of an undertaking, esp when he was in the sky with his snowman reindeer. He had snow gifts for everyone.
They even sang about the King, which was a little much to have them know the Nativity story.
It just wasn't different enough from Snowmen at Night. There were just slightly varying details set at Christmas time, which felt almost like the other book but with decorations. The snowmen should have completely had their own Christmas traditions and not done what humans do, even having our religion. Just like the first book, I would have appreciated more creativity, something really charming and amusing. It's just a Christmas tale with normal activities, but done by snowmen, which doesn't fit.

This was a fun sweet holiday book. For some reason, I didn’t think I’d like it. I think it’s because the illustrations struck me as slightly dark and the snowman almost ominous but, nope, it was all jolly good times in the end.

The cover is cute, and I love the blue color of the inside cover.
Aw the snowman on the first page is cute!
I don't like the people in here.
It was cute how on the page with the kid in bed, and he said 'I think that while I'm snug in bed
Dreaming of Christmas treats,

I like the slow snowman crossing sign.
The town is pretty with lights around the windows.
I love love love the Christmas tree in town!! & the lights in the trees. So pretty.
The cookies they were making were cute.
A snowman Kris Kringle comes over the hill, with a sled of snowmen reindeer.
Santa is so cute with a beard onX and he's pulling snow toys out. That miniature snow snowman is adorable! And a mom is holding her snowman baby.
The tree is so pretty as they're singing around it.
The babies look so cute as the parents carry them home, and they're sleepy.
'They're all back in their places
When Christmas Day starts,
But these folks made of snow
Have a glow in their hearts.'
That's sweet!
'Their smiles are more tender,
Their eyes softly shine,
As the snowmen dream dreams
Of THEIR Christmastime.'
I didn't expect to turn the page and have that be the end, with Merry Christmas randomly thrown in. It didn't fit.
These weren't as good as id thought. They were cute but I just expected more.

This is the story of what snowmen do on Christmas Eve. When all of the people are sleeping, the snowmen gather together in the center of the town and throw a Christmas celebration. They dance, sing, make treats, and even have a visit from snowman Santa.

I would give this book 6 stars if I could. The story is so fun and happy and the illustrations were out of this world. And, there is a cat, a rabbit, a Santa face, a Tyrannosaurus Rex and a little brown mouse hidden in each painting. Wonderfully delightful. A must read for anyone who enjoys childrens books.

What would happen if all the snowmen came alive on Christmas Eve and had their own celebration?? This is a bold speculation because in order for that to happen there would have to be A LOT of snow BEFORE Christmas which has never happened in my lifetime. ANYWAY the illustrations are good and the rhyming is decent

This book is so fun to read! I love it! The illustrations are warm and whimsical, the rhymning text flows nicely, I think I enjoy it as much as the kids do!

This is a beautiful book. The artwork and writing are both wonderful and truly enjoyable.

Such an adorable and fun Christmas-based book! One of favorite aspects was the illustrations. They were beautifully done in a way that young children will adore.
When reading about this mysterious and magical story, I actually found myself chuckling at the snow-based treats and the snow-made presents from Snow Santa.
The only issue I can see with this book is that it has a very specific audience. It’s for people who celebrate Christmas rather than other holidays. This is especially prevalent when the snow people sing and mention, “And the birth of a King”. This, I have to think, must mean baby Jesus. Since not everyone shares the same beliefs, this book may exclude certain families.
Aside from that point, I feel many toddlers and preschoolers will enjoy this cute rhyming story! I would recommend this to adults to read with their toddlers and preschool-aged children during Christmas time.

This time they are enjoying the Christmas season, venturing out during the moonlit night (while children sleep) to gather in the town square. It's not what happens here (primarily a visit from a snow Santa and some carols 'round a tree) but the rich art that makes this special. As in the previous book, Buehner does magical things with light in his paintings. From the cover, where snow people frolic in the moody blues of evening to the scene of a city street where holiday lights cast a mellow glow to the quiet picture of a lightening morning sky, children will be enchanted by the hues of the acrylic artwork.
