The Barn is a unique short story that excludes all of the boring, excessive details that you normally find in conventional literature. The fast moving Supernatural Thriller is sure to make the little hairs on the back of your neck bristle. After certain chapters you might even find yourself looking around to make sure you are alone. The main character, Daniel Reese, is a proud father and husband who recently purchased his family's dream home; or so he thought! The terror unfolds when he realizes that he is dealing with a force far greater than his mental and physical capacity. Daniel Reese had no idea that opening those massive barn doors would reveal so many dark, bizarre secrets.
Brandon Swarrow has four fiction novels; The Barn, Hugo Read This!, The ThrillPlex Theater, and his most recent Coulro. He has also published several short stories, and poems. Brandon currently resides near Pittsburgh, PA with his wife Michelle and two children.
I thought the barn was a very good book. It didn't get boring, it was straight to the point, short, and had an unexpected, but very good ending (in my opinion). Also, I liked some of the small details that were significant in it such as, when the neighbor brought the pie over, it was cut into three pieces and in the end, it turned out there was only three people that survived. I liked how it was based on something that Mr. Swarrow kind of experianced as well. All though it did have some parts in it that were made up, there were things like, there really was a creepy, old barn that he had. Overall, it was really fun to read and i would suggest it to anyone who would like to read a "diffrent" type of story.
For those who don’t always have the time to read, this book is a great way to get a quick fix. 'The Barn’ by Brandon Swarrow brings you a short but sweetly haunted tale you can finish in one sitting.
This is your classic, haunting type of tale brought to life and recreated with numerous twists and turns of plot that keep you going to the end. The ghostly imagery as well as the ending will stick with you for days after. You may find yourself remembering images of pitchforks and illuminated figures every time you pass…a barn.
For fans of those things that 'go bump in the night,' I certainly recommend this book and am preparing to dive into the next one in search of more fresh imagery brought forth by this author.
Greatly exceeded my expectations - the story was strong, the writing was tense and fast-paced, and the ending was both shocking and terrifying. A fantastic read that can be tackled in a sitting or two - and one that definitely shouldn't be passed up.
The Barn is a fast paced thriller that grabs you from the very first page and doesn't let go until the very end. Brandon Swarrow shows us a world of terror full of suspense, well thought out characters and great plot twists. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Dean Koontz or Stephen king. This book is hard to put down and I found myself thinking of it long after I was done reading. Get ready for a great ride.
The book The Barn was written by my English teacher. I never knew that Mr. Swarrow was such a great writer the book had me guessing the whole way through it had me actually interested to read i couldn't put the book down. It was honestly better than any book we have read in school and i think Swarrow should start teaching from his own work. I am very happy i did my project on this book and I plan on reading the rest of Swarrows books.
The Barn was actually the first story that I ever read in one sitting. It is impossible to put down. Elements of tight family bonding make this terrifying account seem as if it may soon destroy you and your loved ones. Eighty pages of strange unexplained and mysterious events. Should definitely be a film.
The Barn, by Brandon Swarrow, is a great book. The reader is captured in suspense and wants to continue reading the whole time. It is easy to finish in a sitting or two and the reader will still want more. I enjoyed the book because of the detail it was written in. I believe there should be a film after the book. All in all, The Barn could now be considered one of my favorite books.
The Barn by Brandon Swarrow was a creepy tale about a haunted barn. He did a gret job writing this book, this story was short but got its point across. this book was about a man who knocked down a haunted barn and became haunted himself, then he went crazy and escaped from a hospital then he finally ended up in jail.
The Barn by Brandon Swarrow is an amazing book. It has suspense, love, family, and mystery. I personally liked the part where the guy gets arrested for killing the guy that he thought wasn't real. It was a very mysterious book. It was also a great book and i think more books should be like this one.
we read this book in are 10th grade english class at Trinity High School. Out of all the books we read in class this year the barn was the best one! i actually lestend to this book and stayed up for the whoile book, didnt fall alseep once! Brandon Swarrow needs to write more books, and mabey he should write one about me his best student of trinity high school.
i though it was very heartfelt at first, then without knowing, it gets amazingly scary and its one of the most amazing books ive ever had to read, i honestly never read outside of school. but, this is a book that i would actually read it outside of school. oh and Btw, spell and Shorten Robert Kroftip backwards,... Pitchfork Bob
This book was very good. I was drawn after the first chapter. I would recommend this book to everyone that enjoys a great thriller. The description of this book fits perfectly for it. This book deserves a 5 star especially since it was written by my English teacher who is the best teacher ever! Great Job Swarrow!
"...there was nothing but some old farm equipment in there, two rusty shovels, an old pitchfork, and about 50 years of cob webs. There really were an awful lot of spider webs..."
i like the book alot not only because bswarrow is a boss but because its not boring like most books we have to read it has very few details wich kept me intrested durring the reading.
It was very good book i really enjoyed it some of the things in the book i didnt see coming like when he broke out of the hospital and went to prison it was kinda creepy but it didnt scare me its hard to scare me though i look forward to reading more of your books in books in the future.
I'm not sure what audience this book is intended for. Maybe ADHD Horror story aficionados? Each chapter is just a couple of pages long, so the reader flies through the action. The plot is acceptable, but the writing is weak. I could see it as a half hour scary TV show.
I think The Barn is a really good book. It is well written and has many surprising parts in it. I could not put the book down at some points. I don't usually like to read or every finish books but this one I finished in less than3 hours.
Overall the barn is a really good book to read and what makes it better is that it is based on something that actually happened. I pretty much never read books but this one was so good I had to finish it. Some of the events in the book are crazy and it makes it interesting to read.
My favorite part was when you broke out the hospital and knocked the security guard out and stole the vehicle. I usually never read but this is a book I would read again. I LIKE THIS BOOK ALOT.
This was a very good book an I'm glad I got to read it. It made me feel like I was in the story. It was very well explained an it was the only book I ever read all the way through.
