Enough of this comes naturally, I think. Do we need canned phrases for everything?

It's a guidebook for writing performance approvals for Managers. With experience, this might not be necessary, yet there are moments when seeking new perspectives or ideas is essential, which this guidebook does offer. Good to keep in your back pocket.

It's December, and it's annual review season. Always fun and always challenging. It marks a critical time for professional growth and development. This period is essential for engaging in significant conversations with your team members. These evaluations should be based on objective, constructive feedback supported by facts. It's important to view these sessions as collaborative opportunities for both managers and employees to challenge each other and grow together. Clear and open communication is critical, making these reviews a two-way street of mutual development and learning.

The book provides descriptors for multiple issues ... descriptors are from "Exceeding Expectations" down to Unacceptable PLUS provides questions for self-evaluation and strategies for "Looking Forward."

Not only does this book assist those writing an employee's performance reviews, it certainly is a great tool for those doing a self-assessment as part of their perf. review. The descriptors (or phrases) are in bullet-point form and are written matter-of-factly without blaming or shaming.

I have recommended to my company that we purchase a copy for each team lead and it was heartily approved!

Usually read this once a year. The best sections of the book for me are listed by page number below.

Pages 35 to 40
Pages 41 to 166

Even if you do not use the words on page 41 through to 166, a reader can be inspired by the book writing to write something else.

Highly recommended. I bought both the kindle version and the paperback.
