It’s very easy to decide that you want to change your life. It’s so much tougher to actually make the changes. Yes, you can plan and goal set but we all know that after a while we get tired, bored, or frustrated. Before long, the plan falls apart.
Staying motivated and focused is the key. Achieve Anything in Just One Year provides a bit of motivation for an entire year. For each day there is an inspirational quote. The author then explains the quote and presents a little exercise for the day.
Essentially, the daily entries are meant to keep you positive, to remind you that what you are trying to achieve is worth the effort. I love quotes and the author has picked some very poignant ones. Food for thought.
I like this book! At first the cover had me a little doubtful but it grew on me after I started getting into the content of the book. "Achieve Anything in Just One Year" is a motivational compilation of daily readings and assignments to assist in achieving goals. Basically, both get you in the mindset for the day.
The reading for day 39 starts off with "You are now becoming a person of action. How does that feel? It can be quite a powerful experience." The assignment for the day is "to continue to be a person of action. Don't interrupt your efforts with talk. Get back to work."
Day 126 starts off with "You have already explored the fact you cannot reach success on your own. You need other people in your life." The reading continues and ends up with the assignment " Practice tact today and give your ego the day off."
For the purpose of this review I didn't complete the readings/assignments but intend to because they have become a routine in my daily life. Reading and doing the assignment first thing in the morning sets me up for the day.
I compliment Jason Harvey for creating a simple, step-by-step, quick paced but effective tool for us to use. Achieving goals and desires has never been easier!
This book is to be read a page a day for a year (365 days). However I am just doing the review of this based on the first 30 days into the book.
I like how it takes you 1 day at a time. That makes it so much easier to achieve your goal. Some Self Improvement books jam all of this information and things you need to do all at once. That's Not good when your trying to improve upon yourself because getting everything thrown at you at once can weigh you down so much and make you feel like you can't accomplish anything.
I started reading and doing the exercises that they give you to do in the book. All you will need is a notebook and a pencil and about 10 - 15 minutes a day to do these exercises. No additional Tapes/CD's To buy like some of the others just a notebook, pencil and some time. I will continue to go threw the book and I hope to bring you updates along the way.
For self Improvement books this one is different, and I mean different for the better. I am only 30 days into this book but I already feel better about myself. I can't wait to see what it will do for me when I complete this book. This book is defiantly worth giving it a try.
This book is to be read for an entire year, it has a daily reading and application for 365 days. I am reviewing the book from the first 99 days of reading.
This book packs a punch of powerful motivation, self-accountability and responsibility, which is coupled with sound wisdom. Regardless, of your belief systems, you are guaranteed to get inspired to activate your movements your goals, dreams and visions. Each day of this book starts off with a quote from a prolific individual which sorts of narrates the story of your day by beginning it with food for thought.
The Author Jason Harvey does a great job at organizing each day by giving your food for thought and your soul. He enables you to take a look inward at the things that may be holding you back from grasping hold to every wonderful thing that life has to offer. He presents a series of questions that holds your accountable by searching your heart. And if that wasn’t enough, once you search your heart, you must apply steps towards implementing what you’ve discovered about yourself. The steps each day are practical and straight to the point. The advice given is motivating and bold.
The greatest highlights for me while reading were particularly about Failure and how we should embrace failure as a part of the process to success. Seeing failure as a learning curve is something that I believe in and while I was reading through this book, I found myself saying “YES, that’s right!” I must say that many of this steps, I will apply because it is important to take a look inside, and this book helps you to discover or recover who you are, what you want and how you should proceed to get there.
One of the greatest highlights for me came on day 91, the explicit boldness and accountability must be noted in order for you to understand how impactful this book could be if you apply it to your daily routine for personal growth.
Day 91 starts with, "In Life as in Football Fall Forward when you fall." Arthur Guiterman
Mr. Harvey expounds on this quote with the following, “When you fall—and you will fall—fall forward. Many of us fear failure. There is no way we would subject ourselves to a heavy-hitting atmosphere in life. We don’t want to get hurt, so we would rather not try to reach for some of those lofty goals that will bring us success. But what would happen if we get in the game and plan to get tackled?”
He concludes, “Your job is to fall forward”.
Though I didn’t read the entire 365 days, I am sure this will change a life, way before the year end!
Achieve Anything In Just One Year by Jason Harvey is a book that I believe will guide me and give me motivation throughout each day. I have kept it by my bedside – I wake up, read the daily passage, tackle the day, and complete the reflective assignment before I crawl back under the covers.
I immediately had the irresistible urge to skim throughout the entirety of the book as soon as it landed in my hands. But, as intended, I am reading one passage a day. Although I am only one week into the process, I am ultimately satisfied with the results and I cannot wait to see what the next passages have to bring to my personal life.
As a full-time college student with two part-time jobs and her own personal obligations, life can easily become overwhelming. It is easy to become motivated but I found it difficult to stay motivated. I have purchased a few smaller journals to keep within my handbag to write notes throughout the day and a larger one where I could compile my thoughts and reflect. It is astounding how much a little motivation can go when you take a small portion out of your day for ‘me’ time. I feel motivated, energized, and overall – happier.
Thank you, Jason Harvey. You have and will continue to make a significant impact in my life.
I have started this book a year ago. Read it in one day, then followed it for the whole year. I had it as a secret personal project and also as a daily motivation as I had in on my phone so always within reach. I cannot say I've found the answers to everything but it really has an impact on your attitude. I found myself more open to take on challenges. I feel more confident and aware of what I can do.
In other words, if you're looking for the secret to a successful life in this easy read, you won't find it, mate! But it sure adds a little push in every day's routine. Read it in the morning and try to digest the quote during the day. If those people could do it, what's stopping you?
I think what I liked best about this book, was that it has faith in you. I realize that is the author's voice coming through, but it isn't so much him being a cheerleader, but almost as if it's a given. Does that make sense?
Let me try again. If you read this book, the thought that "you can't" is taken off the table at the beginning and it's just assumed that "you can" and then the days are laid out gently. One by one you follow, work through your task, always with the knowledge that you'll reach whichever goal you've set if you just keep going. No worries. The amount of time you invest each day is about the time it takes to drink half of your first cup of coffee.
It's a mixture of inspiring verse, introspective thought, and humbling realization. You are forced at times to face the truth about yourself, and often it's the stuff we keep way below the surface because it's unattractive. It makes sense to go eye to eye with your weaknesses in order to say "Hey, how's it going?" and then move on. You know they exist, but you learn to maneuver around them. Even though I haven't finished the steps yet, I imagine once your goal is realized, some of those undesirable traits will diminish and some big issues have been laid to rest.
Speaking of reaching your goal, I like that this is a one-size-fits-all type of plan. And that makes sense as well, since I'm the common denominator of each success, and each failure in my life. Cheesy! I know! I can't help it. I usually get that way after reading uplifting and inspiring books. And this really is. I also like that it's in bite size pieces. It isn't recommended that you take on more than one task a day. I admit I have. I guess pacing is important but I can't stand getting behind (a weakness, I'm working on it). I highly recommend to anyone who needs a boost, a little push in the right direction. You have it in yourself to get there.
I'll come back after I make it through the year and give a final update.
This book really helped me. A friend of mine gave me this book to borrow a little over a year ago because she felt I needed a boost. I was just getting over a divorce after an 18 year marriage. The divorce took 3 years and even though I felt healed I was having trouble feeling positive and I didn't know what direction I needed to go in. The 1st chapter hooked me with the words, "letting go of baggage :)" I started doing the assignments daily and I found I started feeling lighter. I think because I had a goal and the book was giving me a positive direction to go in. My creativity was sparked and my humor started showing up more often. I found I was able to give of myself again without feeling scared or like someone might hurt me. I think it's helped me be a better me and like the author said I am celebrating beginnings. I have returned my friends' copy and downloaded one for myself and I plan on going back to it when I feel I need a boost again. I highly recommend this book if you're feeling lost or just need to create action in your life! I worked for me!
I am thoroughly enjoying my time spent with Mr. Harvey's new book! It is both inspirational and motivational and is designed to be read daily over the course of one year. Each daily installment includes a quote followed by an essay which is full of down-to-earth wisdom which gently nudges the reader toward living a better, happier, more fulfilled and authentic life. I highly recommend this wonderful book as it delivers what the author promises in the introduction - fuel for the fire of positive lasting change.
I never finished this book. I think I didn't read the description well enough before I bought it and I thought it would be something more than just a few inspirational quotes and challenges per day. I guess I think that to achieve things that I need more than inspiration. I need organization and planning, realistic goal setting, etc.
It's not a bad book. It's just not going to change my life as the title implies.
No matter how life it is, a good habits lead to a perfect one. We must live not only exist, doing our best according to our abilities, and we should start today, from this moment without waiting.
Living life to the fullest. What does this mean to you? This book explores our ability to discover and achieve our dreams. I found myself thinking of my loved ones as I read, and feeling a strong pull to share the advice with them. Do you know someone so scared of being hurt that they try to avoid all risk and remain firmly in their comfort zone? Do they completely miss out on all the beauty that life has to offer, when you know they could be and do so much more? Does this sound like you? Even if you come into this book from a good place, you must be really honest with yourself. Jason Harvey provides us with a great opportunity to take a hard look at the areas of our lives which can be improved, and set out to make every aspect better. The advice is very general, touching on everything from nutrition to organization and friendship. It’s not about achieving one specific goal, like the title might suggest. A more accurate title might have been something like “365 Days to a Better You.” The format of the book was a bit unusual for me as I am a heavy-volume reader. This book required that you only read one page per day, but I could never manage to do this. Personally, I prefer to dedicate a large chunk of time to improving things right now, instead of small bits of time over the course of a year. If you can overcome the book’s format, like I eventually did, you will find a great deal of inspiration in these pages. If you’re familiar with The Secret, you might recognize much of the advice. However, if you loved The Secret, you know that there can never be enough reminders of practical ways to apply these strategies. It’s so easy to slip out of a heightened state of productivity and positive thinking, and back into the mundane doldrums—to let little things drag you down. It’s our natural state to worry, to hyper-focus on the negative, and to be overwhelmed by daily stress. This book was just what I needed, at the point in time when I found it, to kick me in the pants and drag me out of my funk. It reminded me to stop dwelling on my obstacles and to feel secure in my strengths. Specifically, I found the chapters on human potential and inner power very uplifting. We really are bigger than the things that drag us down. I don’t think we can ever have enough reminders of how amazing we could be if we only dared to try.

My Review:
Achieve Anything In Just One Year, is a great motivational tool written by Jason Harvey to help enlighten and encourage you to meet goals for the long term or short term. He has taken each day and with inspiring words and activities, he can give you the ability to catapult your dreams forward and within reach like never before.
I really enjoyed Day 310, where we are asked to compromise- remove some of your preconceived notions to make room for new ideas. While this book could possibly be used to further business oriented goals, I really believe it could be used for anyone trying to reach any unattainable goal or goals they may have.
**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the author.
‘Your life is a product of your choices. Take them seriously.’
A catchy title is a mixed blessing. Some will be inspired by it; others will dismiss it as hype. Of course, reading the book alone won’t significantly increase your achievement, but putting in place some of the suggestions can certainly help.
I’ve skimmed through the book, just to get a sense of the layout, content and suggestions. This book is designed to be read one page per day over a year. Each page contains a quote, some questions and an assignment. The objective of each page is to learn to make small daily choices that will help you to get the most from your life. Will it transform your life? I guess that depends on how much change you think you need or want to make and how motivated you are towards making those changes.
I like this book, and I think the format is useful. Will I work through it, as suggested, each page in order at the rate of one page per day? I’m not sure. I’ve already incorporated a couple of suggestions, and I’m keen to explore some others.
I won a free copy of this off the "givaways" page. Thank you for the book Mr. Harvey. This looks like an interesting process. It is a page a day for a year. So here goes! I'll give you my final verdict in 2011.
Update: I hate to say this, but I am giving up for now. I already had some things in the pipeline that I was trying to achieve and I am so stressed out trying to keep up with this book that I am letting other important things fall by the wayside. As this is VERY counterproductive I am giving the book a rest.
It is a great premise, and I believe if I was at another place in my life it would be useful. As it is it is just another stress, and really....who needs that?! I also think an important thing to keep in mind is not every self-help book will work for every person. The fun of improving yourself, is getting to know yourself and exactly what will and wont work for you.
Recently, I took a big risk and quit my job. it was guaranteed income with benefits, but I was miserable. I hated the work I did and it was affecting me emotionally and physically. My happiness was gone and each day became a burden to drag myself through. I'm now exploring my options in starting up a small press. This book could not have come into my hands at better time. it is filled with insight and great advice for achieving my goal. The book is broken down into 365 daily exercises that are designed to help you stay motivated and focused on getting what you want in life and overcoming obstacles created by negative influences in your life. This book is staying on my Kindle and I will be using it to drive myself toward my goals. I even have the perfect journal. it was sent to me as SWAG from my last job and what better to use as a building block to happiness.
200 Days in, and still amazed at the difference in my life because of this book.
A friend recommended I check out Jason Harvey's site to find inspiration, and while I enjoyed the quotes and anecdotes on his blog, it was his book that really caught my attention. The ability to breakdown the year into bite sized chunks and change my habits one day at time was exactly what I was looking for. I purchased his ebook, and after reading the first 10 pages, I reconsidered and challenged myself to read - and do - only one page per day. I think it's safe to say that this book has been the reason for my success this year - personally and professionally.
I will absolutely buy any book written by Jason Harvey, and recommend Achieve Anything to anyone who is tired of living a passive life.
Three-line review (with bonus fourth sentence): I'm sure I must have downloaded this book for free at some point, and there's no reason why anyone should ever pay for it. After 58 days of attempting to give this book a fair shake, I abandoned it due to its hollow voice, vague suggestions, generic advice and disregard for actual life circumstances without offering any actual guidance on achieving anything. Anyone could have pulled 365 random quotes from a bag and written literal interpretations of what they might mean in an attempt to motivate people to "achieve anything" but everything in this book falls flat. Avoid this one; it's not worth investing any of your time here.
It would be easy to write off this book since virtually everything included in it has already been said in multiple ways before. However, Jason Harvey is a young guy who would seem to have an appeal for his peers and is probably poised to be the next career/personal coach motivational guru of that generation. Divided into daily mini essays, each day has a powerful/thoughtful quote followed by a bit of explanation, and lastly includes an action step. What is a tad surprising about these daily thoughts is how wise they are. Nicely done.
I won this book. I was thrilled when I heard I had won the book. Then I saw some of the trailers on it and became quite disconcerted. But none the less it is written to be read one page a day. So I will give it a go. I will do some updates as i progress.
I am still working my way through this book and I really like it. It gives you concrete steps to take to keep you moving forward, and thinking about where you want to go. Very interesting...
Ok, so you have to read on page each day. It's like one of htose calendars with the funny cats on it! So you have to do one certain things a day and they're really easy! Like: get a journal and write down your dreams for a week (day 1) or do something to help make that dream a reality (day 3)! Just simple things. I heart it!
I won this book, and I have to say - I believe everything happens for a reason. I love how this book is set up as a page-a-day type book. For me, I'm about to graduate college, and this book is great at reminding me to think about the bigger picture of what I want to accomplish. But, I have to say - I'll give my final review in 2011!
This is far and away the best inspirational book I have ever read. I found myself eager to move onto the next days quote & 'lesson'. The reading easy going & uplifting. The best I can say is that it all made good sense to me. I skipped ahead - a lot & I wanted to see how day 365 read.
I just did a massive catch up and have started on the daily assignments again. This book really focuses my mind and has been one of the major tools I've used (and continue) to use to manage my depression.
This is a great book for anybody looking to make some positive changes in their life. It is very unique in the fact that it is to be read one page each day for 365 days.
