Every decision, battle, triumph, and heartache has led the galaxy to this moment.

The Republic is spun wildly into sudden war as Gomarii slavers, in overwhelming numbers, strike on behalf of their Savage allies. The battle is fiercest on a newly rediscovered Earth.

But galactic war is only the symptom of an older, deeper, and far more dangerous conflict. Now Keel and Ravi must work frantically to assemble the warriors needed to withstand an ancient threat, and Prisma must wrestle to control her own inner darkness. While on the front lines, Death’s grim specter comes for Chhun and Victory Company.

For once again, a Legion stands steadfast before the void.

KTF Part Two marks the end of Galaxy’s Season Two, and of the expansive story arc that began long ago with Legionnaire. Read on with caution, for here is where the characters you have come to know and love will meet their ultimate fates.

Always sad to end a really good series... You've come to know the characters as if they were family and now there will be no more. Some don't make the end of the book, some ride into the sunset, or in this case fly into the starry heavens. The door to the future? Open a crack. We'll have to see...

The end of "season 2" is a weird mix of the best of the series and also some of the most baffling storytelling decisions. I think some of the action scenes are some of the best in the series and thankfully the often off-putting (and potentially coded racist) way the authors describe alien species is basically absent.

However, the book wraps up what has basically been the overarching multi-season narrative in a shockingly small amount of time. Large sections of action by characters previously given significant time are basically skipped over. In fact, deaths of previously important POV characters essentially occur "off screen."

Finally, there's very little actual closure to how this season ended. The Big Bad(s) die(s) and then smash cut to 40 years later with little discussion of the actual repercussions or lives of previously important characters. That's pretty disappointing and I hope if the series continues some of it will be expanded upon.

OMG!

I really don't have the words to describe this book. My emotions have been everywhere and then Skrizz. My heart is full and broken at the same time. I loved it and hate that it makes me sad at the same time. Fantastic!

Of all the books in the Galaxy's Edge series, this in makes the most sense! Maybe it's because everything that has happened in the past 17 books now comes to an end, maybe! You start off a hundred years before the present just to get Tyrus Rex and Casper Sullivan into the book, I guess. That part worried me because these two did things in the past that had significant impacts on the future, but it's also hard to tell what those impacts were.

It's better when you actually get to Chapter 1 and find that you're now in the present and back with Captain Keel, Kill Team Victory and Zombie Squad. Those are definitely some names from previous books that you should be very familiar with. They all are on the planet Kima which in other times went by a different name, one you'll be familiar with. They are specifically inside a vault which contains a lot of Savage artifacts. Most of these artifacts are about the life and times of a guy name Thomas Roman. Who he is will be reveled in the story as you read through it. But, it's important to know that this vault must be protected from the Savages at all cost.

Why wasn't exactly spelled out, but you'll read that it is going to cost a lot to protect this vault. A lot of known characters are not going to make it through this book. There is a entity called the Golden King and he intends to access the vault and will do so with all his might. He also had control of about all the "alien" races in the galaxy. They are doing his bidding one way or another. The lead aliens are the slave traders Gomarii. They are working with the Hool and the Zhee with all three plus the Savage Marines being the bulk of the Golden Kings army. They are attacking every Republic planet now when the Republic is just beginning to recover from Goth Sullus. The Golden King also has Reina, Prima's supposed mother and Prisma. What's going on between those three is a story all by itself.

The Legion and in particular the, 131st Legion, led by General Chhun are attempting to fight back these Gomarii attacks but the General believes most of them are a feint covering up the real fight which he believes is to be on Kima. Against the concerns of the Legion Commander and the Republic Senate, he's moving his Legion forces to Kima. It's hoped that he won't be too late. There are other forces that the Golden King intends to bring into the battle that are far, far worse than the aliens he has currently fighting for him. How they are going to stop those "things" is not a problem the Legion can solve. It's going to have to have help from someone or something if the galaxy is going to escape from the rule of the Golden King.

There is a lot of fighting in this book and most all of it makes sense. You'll get a better understanding of how several of the characters in previous books relate to each other and what their part was in this story. I often wondered how a new character in a new book fit into the over all story-line and most of those questions are answered in this book. I don't want to go into details on what happens because you do need to read and understand everything that happens here for all the rest of the story to make sense.

It's been a long, long journey from book 1, "Legionnaire" to now. I'm actually surprised I stuck with it because a lot of these books just didn't make sense. Many of them were off-shoots just written about one character and how he/she came to be. I'm still not sure how Prisma came to be and where she got her powers. I know that Reina was not her real mother, but Prisma has come a long, long way from the little girl that wanted to kill Goth Sullus.

So, 18 books and that's it. Doesn't appear to be any more in this series and that's the way it ends. Everything kind of gets wrapped up and it's a good ending, a long journey, but a good ending.

I put off reading this book for a while, primarily because I knew there'd be quite the butcher's bill of characters I liked. Now that I finally got through it, it was quite the rollercoaster ride.

This story kicks off directly from the previous book and continues the multi-faceted situations and scenario's that were pushing everyone towards the planet Kima. There are oodles of violence across every theatre of this epic, world-spanning tale. That won't disappoint anyone.

However, that is not to say that there aren't issues I have with the story as a whole.

- Prisma: I am elated that Prisma finally died, praise the Fates! She was the worst character by far. I can't think of any reason for her to be such a focal point of the story. The whole 'fate of the galaxy rests on her shoulders' thing really grates. It was due to her foolhardiness that plenty characters perished along the way. She added complications since the time she was introduced, as an insufferable brat. I can understand Crash's devotion to her, however, for the love of all that is holy, I cannot understand why Skrizz was written to be so enamoured over Prisma. She was seemingly written to be forced to be in the middle of the great plot. Poor writing.

- Bots: The death of Crash was quite the downer, especially in the way he was destroyed. He deserved better. It was quite poignant when Garret had discovered that Crash has become sentient ('having a soul'). That was fitting. Especially since his life revolved around the useless Prisma.
DDOW, my favourite bot in the entire series. Finally gets to unleash hell and mayhem as he dreamt off, as well as showing signs that he too, was evolving. I don't recall him being mentioned after assisting in the defence of the bunker. Which is a shame really, he was quite the entertaining and loved character.

- Skrizz: He deserved far, far better. Nothing made sense about his devotion to Prisma, no matter how hard they tried to make it make sense. He died an utterly senseless death. Some of the worst writing I've ever read. The authors tried to romanticise it, but they failed.

- Death: I'm sure all the fans understood there'd be plenty of wanton death around, however, the sheer scale of known (and liked characters) dying was simply over the top. To also note, one character was killed twice - an oversight no doubt. It wasn't fair that Keel got his happy ending with the other useless character (his Endurian princess), yet the ember of maybe life out of the Legion was extinguished for Chhun.

- Golden King: A very interesting character, power-hungry egomaniac. Taking up the self-proclaimed mantle of 'King'. Where did he fall short? The ridiculous reasoning behind him wanting to head to vault in order to destroy it. Just because it held his history and past (of the Savages also). That was really thin and not believable at all.

The time skip at the end was just too much. Too far in the future, too many good characters killed. I don't see how this series can carry on with the same momentum with so many characters we got involved with over 18 books, now being taken off the board for varying reasons.

A good book, based on how the story was closed off - this should have been the last book - alas it isn't. Let's see how the authors try to salvage this and get our interest back.

When a series captivates you from the beginning, and it takes you on a wonderful journey for over 20 books, it grows to become a piece of your life. You look forward to reading more, waiting for the next book, wondering how your characters will develop. And when an author decides the series is finished, you are sad - not because it was bad (by no means was it bad), but because you can only read it for the first time once, and these characters, this story, this part of your journey is over. You have found your peace, and still feel the sorrow for those left behind because you forget nothing.

I know that I am probably committing heresy by giving this book 1 star but I will caveat my score by stating this is the only GE book I have read and not listened to, I fear if I had started season 1 by reading then I would have never continued, it’s the narration that brings this book to life for me, I have this book in pre order with audible and will listen but In written form I really did not enjoy

No

That’s correct, no.

No, the galaxy hasn’t quit expanding. No, as in, man hasn’t quit battling entropy.

Anspach and Cole have some explaining to do.

I’ll give them some time. This book was only published last December (2022), and they’ve been working hard. They deserve a break.

Just not too long.

I’m sorry. If you were looking for spoilers or mysterious references … well, you need to find somewhere else to look.

I’m honestly at a loss for words when it comes to this book. My emotions have been all over the place—full of joy and heartbreak at the same time. I loved every moment of it, even though it left me feeling sad in the best possible way. A truly fantastic end to Season 2!

I think for me the end of this universe maybe until I need a fix on this type of story will I potentially pick up Season 3

An emding

It is with great sadness that the end has come, however, it is with joy that some few are left in peace with an understanding that a full commitment to KTF, can see a new day a new time dawn. Huge thanks to Jason and Nick (if I may be so bold) for leading me on the journey through Galaxy's Edge.

Wow!

To say that Season two ends with a bang would be a massive understatement. There is still a whole lot of meat left on the bone of this literary universe that the authors can explore (even within the main story line) but KTF part II does a good job of rounding out a great second set of books.

This is the five-star rating system I use:

★★★★★ Great book! Can’t wait to read it again (and I will).
★★★★☆ Good book. I am glad I read this.
★★★☆☆ OK book. Nothing special but not bad.
★★☆☆☆ Not good. Why did I waste my time?
★☆☆☆☆ Lousy. I didn’t finish.

If for whatever reason, I go back and reread a good book, I will change the rating to five-star because I read it again.

Magnificent season finale, could also be a satisfying saga finale except we already know there will be a season 3.
For audiobook listeners: you absolutely have to keep listening until after the authors’ audience interview, because right at the very end there is a short heart wrenching yet sweet epilogue that you cannot afford to miss.

RC Bray was magnificent, as always.

Encore, encore.

Wrapped up in a bow. Eighteen books, plus the order, and it is all tied up neatly but with options for future stories. The butcher's shop in the bunker was a nice touch.

Amazing. The culmination of season 2 and the conclusion in the best novel in the series. I didn't particularly like how in season two many books were handling only 1-2 threads of the bigger story, but finally in KTF part 1 & 2 all stories come together in grand finale that I enjoyed fully.

Interesting ending!

This ending was not exactly what I was expecting but it was good! I thought the big bad guy would die a different way … almost seemed to easy but they did spend alot of time explaining why it would work so it was justified.

Perfect wrap to an awesome story.

It's an amazing end to a great series. Couldn't stop reading once I started. This comes close to as perfect an ending as you could get. It's truly sad to see it finish. You will not be disappointed at all. KTF

Just wow. If I could leave it at that, I would. Another spectacular book in a spectacular series. So very well written. You never get tired of the story. There are so many marvelous characters. But, what happened to that homicidal bot Death?

Wow!

This is the end of season 2. It certainly ended with a bang. Many characters who we came to love fulfilled their destiny. I wont say who lives and dies. Nevertheless, the authors are good at introducing plot devices and resolving them.

Great read as always, but the ending seemed rushed and the story left some loose ends. Perhaps that's for season 3.

Serious heartbreak

I’m broken-hearted that the story involving Aeson Ford and his crew have come to an end!
But, the ending hints at a future for some of my favorite characters. Keep ‘em coming!
