This stand-alone novel, that is also the fourth part of the Ancient Secrets series continues the story of Nepalese secret agent Ashra Shah and the adventurous archeology professor Elliot Brand!
Elliot Brand has vanished!
It is his ex-girlfriend, the Nepalese spy Ashra Shah, who follows his steps around the world in a desperate mission to find him before it is too late. The journey takes her to the Amazon rainforest, where she finds out that Elliot might have once again stumbled upon an ancient secret that should have better been left forgotten.
If you want a pure adventure story then this is it!
Jungles, horrid man-eating creatures, dangerous men with guns hunting you, helicopters and ancient tombs that contain nasty surprises... That is what Elliott and Ashra face in this latest book. I do believe this one is my favorite now - before book #2 was my favorite. But this one definitely beats it on the adventure level. Lots of Man versus Nature in here.
So in this latest installment Ashra gets sent on a mission to go find Elliot. For unknown reasons M16 just cannot find him (which I think it very hilarious as Elliot is only a college professor of archeology and obviously M16 is the British secret intelligence agency so surely they should be able to find him but no they cannot). During the course of her search she meets a spook from M16 named Rupert Miller. Together the two try to track him down. And before you can say "Yucamama" they are off to the jungles of Ecuador! The majority of the book is set in Ecuador.
The story flows smoothly and there are lots of little frequent twists. This is no ordinary jungle that Elliot has gone to visit. We all know he is such a trouble magnet. But I just loved all the action in here. Lots of running around, danger everywhere (often of a very unusual type) and guns blazing. This is definitely a fun creature story! Its like one of those scary animal movies. If you love those you'll love this.
Archaeology Professor Elliott Brand is missing, and someone desperately wants to know where he is. Desperate enough to seek out his long-time love, Ashra Shah, an intelligence officer with the Investigative Bureau of Nepal.
T.S. Falk once again builds a flawlessly horrifying thriller, a tale of such creepiness that you won't view the insect kingdom the same way ever again. Each tickle on your arm or face will send you into paroxysms of terror.
One bright spot stands out in the story and that is at the end. But, of course, you'll have to read the book to find out what happens. That is, if you can survive the journey through the Amazon. Thank goodness, I did.
Finished in a few hours. It is not entirely about 'ancient beings' as the previous books, but it was fun and enjoyable, and I really liked the character development.
This was my first T.S. Falk novel, so I guess that I needed to get up to speed on the previous adventures / successes of the two main characters, Elliot Brand, British archeologist and Ashra Shah, Nepalese government agent. It did not take long to get the gist of their previous involvements, and the story seemed to really take off once the focus was on the Amazon jungle and the mysteries that accompanied the archeological finds. At times it felt like a new take to the “Land of the Lost” with plenty of surprises at each turn. The story seemed to get better as the plot moved along. I look forward to reading other stories written by this author.
I have enjoyed reading this series except for two things. One, I kept getting the impression the author is desperately trying to shove down the throat of the reader his own biases toward climate warming. Two, his works need editorial review. I find grammatical mistakes to be quite distracting, slowing reading and even pausing comprehension while I figure out the text. Even the presence of such a need for editorial work makes me wonder if the author reads his own work before publishing.
Off to the Amazon goes the Professor answering the call of his x-wife. Meanwhile in Nepal Ashra gets caller to do a special assignment with Miller from MI6-find the Professor. Miller is with MI6 but this is a side job he's doing for someone, so no witnesses. And the story goes on from there with quite a few surprises. Great story. Thank you .
A fun, fast read! I always enjoy new authors! Their enthusiasm can carry a storyline if need be! Fortunately, T.S.Falk, can carry a storyline quite well! Everything is easy to envision, the characters are logically developed from the story beginning to the storyline end showing a strong character development and emotional growth!
I will continue to enjoy T.S.Falk's growth as a writer!
Another cool, little crazy story. Than again wasn't there an instance of something similar in the Amazon forrests before? Just maybe the giant animals were real, maybe not. As for giants, they show up even in the bible, so who knows? A good, quick read. And again not as sci-fi as the description says.
Oh great, the giants are coming! Really! The question is, what kind of giants?
More superb science fiction, lots of action. Elliott and Ashra head to someplace hot this time. But they are not together. This time there's another love interest.
If you want to know if Elliott and Ashra finally get back together, you'll just have to read this book.
Great series! Mystery, adventures, romance and enjoyable characters. A Brit archeologist and a beautiful Nepalese secret agent. It would make a great mini series.
Really enjoyed this 4th outing for Elliott Brand & Ashra as I have the previous three! Really entertaining, well written and great story lines. Can't wait for the next "adventure" and it's about time he kept hold of her too.
I only gave it four stars because of many grammar errors in the book. Someone needs to proof read it much better.. These stories would make an interesting Netflix series.
This book kept me up until the middle of the night, until I finished it. Falk never disappoints! Once again, fast paced, action filled, with fantastic creatures.
Elliott and Ashra are fighting for their lives in the Amazon jungle...this time not only against mercenary men but from giant insects, spiders, and catepillars! Can they make it out alive?
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed these now four books. If you’re reading this then you’ve probably read some of them too. Try this one and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
I am hooked on this series of books by T.S. Falk. They are all so imaginative. Different continents, menacing bad guys veiled in mystery and WHAT? A love story wrapped up in the middle! I can't wait for the next one.
An exciting story of the adventures of searching for a lost civilization in the Amazon jungle! A professors girl friend less him on a dig but the creatures along the way would have them for supper. This goes along with dodging other mercenaries!
So this is another ancient secret book in fact the fourth. If you plan on reading you have read the previous. It is exactly what you would expect with fun adventures in mysterious, exotic places. A very good read with a broader look into our main characters. Bigger question: when are the movies coming out?
If you are a fan of this adventure series, you will enjoy this one too. Each one has been a page turner for me. They are hard to put down! Looking forward to the next book in the series.
