The grumpy blue alien doesn’t understand a word I say. So why do I find it so hard to resist him… and his wicked tail?
CARA I went to space looking for adventure, my job to protect the other women of the expedition. When gray aliens wake me from cryo in the middle of a bustling market, it turns out I’m what’s on sale. This sure as hell isn’t the fun I dreamed of!
A blue alien with horns and a tail leaps to my rescue. We escape into the jungle, zipping through the trees on a hoverspeeder. Now this is more like it!
Gravin’s as gorgeous as he is grumpy. I hope I’m not imagining the heat in his eyes, but how can I be sure when all his growls are in an unknown language?

The mating pull burns hot in me, demanding I give her my mating vow. But we need special translation tech. We dive into a heist, attempting to con the same mobsters I stole her from. When danger threatens, I’ll risk everything to save her.

I'm not sure if I wasn't in the right mood for this story or if the author's writing style isn't a great fit for me. This is a fun sci-fi romance with fated mates and the cutest bonded animal sidekick. The h is a peacekeeper assigned to a human spaceship who's usually capable but who's in uncertain territory after she's awakened from cryogenic sleep but not on her ship and not with humans. The H is a warrior in an alien race that's low on women so many have been sent to roam in other areas and he rescues the h after he recognizes she's his fated mate at a market, except they have a major language barrier. He's trying to resolve that while the h is also worried about a couple of other possible women who may be in the questionable aliens' clutches. The pace of the story is quick, taking place over a matter of a couple weeks I think between the beginning and end. Written in first person, dual POV. No ow/om drama and neither are virgins.
I liked that the h didn't fall apart and panic and was also optimistic, but her attitude also rubbed me the wrong way at times. I didn't want her bemoaning her fate, yet her upbeat curiosity had me side-eyeing her and wishing she'd stress a bit more with situational awareness of threats or concerns. I enjoyed the H's grumpiness with his two friends/shipmates but how he was sweet with the h. He conveyed his care of her so well too without being able to speak the same language. Their attraction is driven not just by their fated mate bond, but also a genuine appreciation of each other as they problem solve together, always a positive when it comes to fated mates. There were a few steamy scenes and the H is differently equipped in color, texture, and other features (he has a tail!). I did want more time on page of them emotionally bonding though once they could talk.
A big bonus of this story is the adorable space kitty and his cute bond with the h. Also, the bond between the alien warrior friends. Plot-wise, the focus is solving the language barrier, then a potential rescue of other women, and the fated mates situation. Plenty of humor and cuteness, a touch of action, a tiny smidge of angst (amazing what talking things out clears up), and an overall light read. I liked this, I just didn't love it for some reason, despite the elements involved that would normally really draw me in. The ending is a HFN/HEA where they're in love and mated, but no extended epilogue but they'll feature as side characters for the other stories with additional human/warrior pairings.
💙 Bookish Thoughts This was such a cute alien romcom! It felt fluffy, fun, and light hearted. Definitely one of those books that makes you smile the whole way through, and I’m excited to dive into the rest of the series!
🛸 What to Expect • Fated mates • Baddie FMC • Alien MMC • Language barrier • Tail play 😏 • Knotting
✨ Fave Quote “Since the first moment I saw you, I have not needed to mourn a lost past never meant to be. For I now have a future, and it is with you, my fated mate.”
this was so good!! we have fated mates, language barrier, space kitty, found family and lots of other good stuff...he was so silly sometimes and they both worried about their relationship but they talked and solved everything 🤍 also plot was really interesting, perfect combination of romance and action

The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 🖤💙🩷 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📙 World building: 🌏🌍🌎 Character development: ☹️😮😋 Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙 Narration type: Dual Narration
The heroine:Cara - she was a human peacekeeper on an ark ship sent to find a planet that can sustain life. She and the others on board were in cryo-stasis for over 100 years when she suddenly was awoken. She expected to be one of the first to be awakened, what she didn’t expect was to open her eyes and be face to face with a big grey alien in the shape of a pyramid. Nor did she expect to end up on an auction block with bird and lizard like aliens bidding on her.
The Hero:Gravin - he is a Zaarnian. His species has a shortage of female births and any male who does not find their mate by a certain age is banished from the home planet. He and his friends have a ship and they travel the universe making their living in space. When one of the ships main features brakes down, he travels in one of the ships shuttles to a trading planet to get a replacement part.
The Story: When Gravin sees Cara on the auction block, he immediately knows that she is his fated mate. He never knew that his kind could find a fated mate of another species. He tries to buy Cara, but when the price goes above what he can afford, he decides to steal her from the reptilian mob boss that buys her. Cara is attracted to the handsome blue alien that bids on her, but when he doesn’t win, she is not happy with her new owner and is pleased when Gravin kidnaps her and runs away with her.
This is a pretty standard alien romance. There is not much that is original about it, though I did like the characters. The world building was ok, though not spectacular, the aliens and animals on the planet are described pretty well though and I always like books where the main character gets an alien pet. Though they always seem to be similar to a cat. I would say this book was pretty middle of the road for alien romance, not great, but not bad by any means. I give it 3.4 stars, though the narration was terrific.
This audiobook was told in multiple points of view and was narrated in dual narration by Tor Thom and Elle Sonali. I really like Tor Thom’s super deep voice for these huge and dominant alien males. He does a great job and his voice is perfect for this genre. Elle Sonali has a nice, feminine voice that is expressive and is enjoyable to listen to.
Krista Luna's romantic science fiction novel "Claimed by the Alien Rogue" whisks readers away on an exciting voyage through the reaches of space. The action is centered on the brave and independent young woman Cara, whose cryopod has been intercepted, and she is now being held captive by the evil Grug. Gravin, a handsome alien, finds her and quickly realizes that she is his destined mate. Despite their language barriers, Cara and Gravin are attracted to one another, and so their thrilling and passionate relationship begins.
Luna's writing is crisp and vivid, painting a rich and immersive picture of an alien world full of danger and intrigue. The romance between Gravin and Cara is captivating, and both the main and supporting characters are well-drawn and complex. I can genuinely say that I am already anticipating the books that will feature Kirel and Sul.
At its core, "Claimed by the Alien Rogue" is a thrilling and steamy story with a heartwarming romance at its center. It's the perfect read for fans of science fiction and romance alike, and Luna's expert storytelling and world-building will keep readers hooked from beginning to end. Highly recommended.
I enjoyed the twist on the military FMC, where she was curious and quick to smile but was still competent. This was a grumpy-sunshine sci fi rescue romance, where the MMC recognized his fated mate and saved her at auction. The MMC didn’t seem to have much personality beyond being grumpy, which was a let down for me.
4.5⭐️ this book is so lighthearted and fun- what a joy!
The premise: a bunch of human women decide to leave earth on a mission so they’re put into cryo pods and loaded onto a spaceship. Something goes terribly wrong, and our FMC Cara wakes up to a pyramid-shaped alien trying to sell her. She’s rescued by her fated mate (Gravin) who is a blue/purple alien with horns and a very fun tail. Gravin was exiled from his home planet for failing to find his fated mate in time, so he lives on a spaceship with a bunch of his alien buddies. What happened to the rest of the women? Great question.
I had a great time with this one! It was lighter and breezier than some other alien romances I’ve read- there were a few stressful moments but overall the vibes were very pleasant and chill. Our two main characters had heart eyes for each other from the very beginning but the burn wasn’t too fast at all- it was very sweet and I was rooting for them the whole time! I can’t wait to see what happens next.
The spice was excellent of course- these aliens have handy dandy tails that they certainly put to use lol.
What a great start to the series! I fell in love with this world by reading a novella krista provided on her website that introduces the world. I read it so fast and was left STARVING for more. Ma’am you did not disappoint! Everything about this book is just perfect. The relationship between Cara and Gravin is so special. Cara is just so down to earth and really wants an adventure and she sure gets it! It had dual point of view, which I LOVED. And the spicy? 😮💨🔥 It was top tier!
What happens when a grumpy blue-skinned alien with horns and a tail meets an adventurous bad-ass human and determines she’s his fated mate? He goes into protective mode and will do anything to punish those who have wronged her, including the aliens that stole her and sold her. The story begins with the two main characters being unable to communicate, which for me is always a fun storyline to watch play itself out. Gravin knows that Cara is his fated mate, but he can’t communicate it to her and therefore can’t claim her until he can.
This was a quick read for me, primarily because I couldn’t put it down! It was a fun read and as the first book in the new Zaarn series introduced a variety of characters that I’m sure we will see continue to be developed in upcoming books. The author took time developing the Zaarn world and really established the Zaarn culture. In this genre, we can often find books with shallow plots and poor character development. This was definitely not the case with this book.
Let me just say that space kitty is one of my favorite additions to the Zaarn world! I recommend this book to anyone who read the author’s previous series, the Varool, but also to anyone interested in scifi romance- it’s worth the time and I look forward to the upcoming books in the series!
I thank the author for sending me an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
💙 “Since the first moment I saw you, I have not needed to mourn a lost past never meant to be. For I now have a future, and it is with you, my fated mate.” ~~~ I loved Cara so much! She’s a peacekeeper, who’s joined an all-woman space program - ARK 1 - in search of a habitable planet. She’s so brave, strong and fierce. I loved that she could take care of herself and had the tendency to see the best in everything. I admired her quick thinking in dire situations and how full of wonder she is when facing all the alienness. Even more, her love for sci-fi TV shows and movies made me like her even more. She’s one absolutely amazing woman!
Gravin and his crew are looking for parts to repair their ship. Being a Zaarn, he’s one huge, strong, dangerous, deadly and fearsome male. He might be grumpy, with a side of growly and a dash of scowly, but this Zaarn warrior is also very honorable, loyal, fiercely protective and has a heart of gold. Oh, he could be such a cinnamon roll! I couldn’t help but adore every single thing about him!
I absolutely loved everything that happened between Cara and Gravin! As part of the ARK 1 program, the last thing Cara expects is to be abruptly woken from cryo-sleep and auctioned on an alien auction. But a smoking-hot space demon will come to her rescue! From the moment they met, their attraction was undeniable. And, despite being unable to understand each other, those two fit so well together. I had so much fun with their wild escape through the jungles of Ushum. I loved all the ways they took care of each other. And Gravin was so patient and honorable and willing to do everything to make sure he could communicate with Cara, even dealing with the dangerous Tula Syndicate. And I really liked Cara showing the three fierce Zaarn warriors that she’s as badass as they are. Gravin and Cara were absolutely perfect for each other and nothing could keep them apart. And when they finally gave in to their undeniable needs, the passionate moments they shared were smoking hot and filled all with the best knotty delights and one very, very naughty and special tail! I couldn’t get enough!
In addition, the storyline and the worldbuilding were phenomenal! I loved the vivid and beautiful sceneries. I also had so much fun with Gravin’s crew mates! Even more, the suspense, the unexpected turns of events and the dangerous space heist kept me glued to the pages till the very end. And I absolutely adored the fierce little pink kreecat! I 👏 WANT 👏 A 👏 SPACE 👏 KITTY 👏!
Overall, the story is a spectacular start of the new series! It’s filled with adventure, danger, humor, twists, non-stop action, suspense, blazing hot romance and magnificent characters.
I absolutely loved every page of it and cannot wait to see what happens next!
I'm pleased that the first book of the series has the same fun, fast, lighthearted tone that the novella had.
Worldbuilding was great again. It feels almost a little strange to have a space adventure with multiple aliens that really only means 4 different species. It feels like most alien stories I read are either focused on just one alien race or there's a plethora of different species all over known space. That said, it seems to be working out great here. We slowly learn a bit more about each species as the humans in the stories do and it's easy to keep track of.
I enjoyed both of the main characters, Gravin and Cara, as well as the two side characters Sul and Kirel and the kreecat, Space Kitty. Character development was okay. It fit the normal level of development for a romance but given the amount of stuff jam packed into the novella, I was really hoping a longer book would see more character development than what was there.
There's a lot of action in these and it's not bad, but it does start to feel like a lot. At some points, it felt kinda unrealistic with the stunts they were doing but I am reading an alien romance set after year 2200 or something like that so if I can lend my suspension of disbelief for a telepathic horned cat and aliens that look like t-rex, surely I can stretch it a little bit more to let it go and enjoy.
The whole banished for life from their home planet thing will continue to bug me, though. The evolution of that tradition is explained canonically but it still feels like a huge leap from roaming as a hunter/gatherer society vs being banished from the entire planet. You'd think society would have changed its views over time. Are there NO families and friends that want to keep the unmated men there? There has to be someone, somewhere, that doesn't want to cooperate or doesn't want to follow tradition. Even if you cant make the argument that they have value as people (which, fucking yikes), they surely would still have value contributing to society as a whole??? I just don't get it and this better be addressed as the series continues, although it's gonna annoy the shit out of me if the banishment is only considered a bad idea because they could have mates. Like no, how about they're still enough as people regardless of mating??
This is probably more of a 3.5 rating. The story isn’t bad. It’s quick and fairly fast paced though I found some of the writing almost childish or cringe adjacent but I know that the humor might just not be for me.
It’s really your standard alien romance story human meets alien language issues arise but they’re fated mates so they wade through their attraction until they can communicate. There’s an overarching slave trade of humans and then there’s galactic troubles and the reveal that there are more woman available for their race that births more males than females.
Though the story was good and I’ve read a bunch of similar stories that I loved this one didn’t completely hold my attention in the same way. I was more interested in the side characters stories than Gravin’s so I’m interested to see if I like the second book which is Kirel’s story better than this one. Though also I will say I tend to perceive the first book in a series to be the weakest so it might very well grow on me.

REVIEW
Guilty-pleasure read all the way.
The ship carrying humans in Cyro pods is attacked, and the pods taken away by alien species to be sold to highest bidder. Cara is in one such pod. She wakes up to the aliens and her auction. Gravin was banished from his planet at twenty years of age after being unable to find a mate—as is their practice. He has spent five years as a merc building his own family. Now goddess has presented him his fated mate.
Half of the book is spent convincing us that the FL is a sunshine which is irritating at times. She does mention she has common sense and yet fails to teach thumb-up and thumbs-down. But I am here for the fun bits—the space Kitty. And gooey bits—Gravin. The plot is not a new one. Still the books is a good time-pass.
This book has everything I want in an alien romance and so much more!
It starts out pretty standard: Cara wakes up from cryogenic sleep only to be sold at auction because the other aliens don’t realise she’s sentient. Then when one does there’s trouble getting the tech to upgrade so they still can’t communicate for a while.
And that’s where the similarities end. You’ve got fated mates, an alien mob boss, *multiple* heists, knots!! 🪢, AND A PINK SPACE KITTY COMPANION!?
This book is pure fun. Cara wanted to go to space and find adventure so she doesn’t shy away from anything! It helps that back on Earth she was a “peacekeeper” so she’s got some combat and weapons training and can absolutely hold her own. It’s these traits and not just the fated mates aspect that make Gravin so gone for her. He is obsessed but doesn’t want to start the mating bond without her explicit consent and understanding so he’s fighting his instincts while fiercely protecting her and trying to figure out their next steps.
I can’t get enough of this world! I devoured the prequel novella (available for fr33 in the author’s IG bio) and I love the little teaser we get at the next couples - give me all the space pirate fun 🤩 and horn steering 😈
Thanks to the author for the ARC - all opinions are my own.
A fun, sexy, and sweet read that I enjoyed tremendously (in case the five stars aren't clear enough :D )! The main couple were both so likeable, I want to be part of their crew! I loved how the FMC was capable and not some damsel in distress; the MMC was the sweetest grump. The main story line kept me hooked, the adventures had be on the edge of my sofa, and the world building had me forgetting I was on the sofa, and not on a hoverspeeder with my sexy alien boyfriend speeding through an alien jungle. I can't read the rest of the books in the series soon enough!
Krista Luna knows how to write blue alien romance for sure. The characters were written so well, the angst was low, the consent was high, the steaminess was perfect. The world is interesting and the planet was cool. There was a lot that reminded me of the Ice Planet Barbarians series. And sometimes I got confused with how many women Cara knew / was in charge of. It seemed like that changed a few times. Also, Gravin was not really grumpy even though that’s what the synopsis promised. Other than that this was fun and hot and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
So much frekking fun! Space heists, alien kitties, language barriers, fated mates and one seriously hot alien rogue. Cara wakes from cryo-freeze surrounded by aliens with very questionable intentions and from there, it’s nonstop chaos, danger and high stakes adventure.
I love that our heroine is smart, resourceful, resilient, a trained fighter and a total badass. Gravin is tall, grumpy, horned and one hell of a pilot. He proves that moody, broody aliens do it best.
Strap in and hold on to your fated mate’s tail this is a wild, funny, spicy ride. Docked half a star only because I wanted those steamy scenes to last a little longer.
Pretty sure I’ve just found my new series obsession.
OMG, I loved it! The first book in this new series and I want more. Cara and Garvin are so much fun to read, their adventures running from the alien mobsters and trying to com then later is just awesome. Great book.
So I read the most recent book first and then this one by accident and I’m kind of glad I did because just from these two books I can tell that it is very formulaic and they are all going to be the same. I am not going to waste my time with the rest of the series.
This one had me hooked from page one. Usually with smutty books you lose the plot line but this one was surprisingly good. I love a good sci-fi story and this hit the mark. It could have easily stood on its own without the spicy scenes... though those didn’t hurt! Action, intrigue, and just the right touch of danger made it impossible to put down.
Cara, the female human lead, is one of the protectors of a group of women who were sent from Earth in cryostasis with the hopes of finding a new healthy planet to colonise. She’s rudely awoken by aliens and is shoved onto an auction block. Gravin, the male alien lead, is an exile from his planet - there are more males born than females and, if they don’t find their fated mate, they are exiled from their planet. He’s shocked to find that he’s having a fated mate response to Cara and determined to steal her when he can’t win the auction. What follows is a rollicking adventure, as they get away from Cara’s purchaser, find their way back onto Cara’s seller’s ship to rescue women in other cryostasis pods, and get away to the safety of Gravin’s home ship.
This story is the beginning of a new series from this author. I read the free prequel that was released and was really looking forward to the series. It does not disappoint! This story is dual POV, well written, and a fast paced action romance adventure, with erotic heat and fun times. I enjoyed Cara’s focus on her role, not just her new situation and her hot protector. I enjoyed Gravin’s disbelief at the situation and his focused protection and support for his unexpected mate. I appreciated Gravin’s crew mates and their active interested engagement and the family support they provided. I enjoyed the intimate scenes and the slow but intense build up through the story.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
I loveee a good first contact with zero communication, throw in fated mates and a vibrating tail? *chefs kiss*
This is book one in a completed series. Many years in the future a group of women leave earth in search of a better life. Cara (our human FMC) is awoken from her cryogenic capsule by aliens - and not the good guys. She’s dragged out onto an auction block where Gravin (our good guy alien MMC) sees her.
M/F Interconnected standalones Alien x human First contact Vibrating tail Fated mates No common language for quite awhile
Loved it! So easy to read. Fun, adventure, gorgeous characters, beautiful setup, great world building. Everything for a day of happy reading. Cara wakes up from cryo-stasis, expecting to be joining her fellow travellers in settling a new world. Only to find a bunch of ugly jerk aliens have stolen her and are auctioning her off. The nerve am I right? Luckily, fate would have a hot demon of an alien come by and recognise her as his fated mate. Gravin is a total grumpy marshmallow who I totally fell in love with. He just springs into action, with smarts and badassery, and snatches her up from the alien mobsters who bought her. Then all the real fun begins. Their avoiding discovery, dealing with a language barrier, and a heist or two, was loads of fun to read. Cara has a lot of her own badassery going on, as a protector for her people. She plays a big part in all their adventures. So with our two heroes, Gravin’s team, and an adorable space kitty, I totally loved this start to a new series.
I REALLY enjoyed this alien romance. I was starting to feel like alien romance was starting to feel a little cookie cutter. Woman stolen from Earth for breeding saved by the big blue alien. They have great chemistry and fall in love, the end. This was similar but very much not. A ship full of women leaves earth with an unknown destination. The plan was they would remain in stasis till their ship found a habitable planet. Somehow 3 pods get taken from the ship. Only one woman is woke and that is moments before some hostal aliens set her on an auction block. See, no one had ever seen a human before so even though it's illegal to South sentient beings. The bad guys can get away with it. Because they are not yet classified as being an intelligent species. It's a loop hole they exploit. This is where things get interesting because while she's being bid on her big blue alien finds her. (why are they always blue?) He knows right away she's his Souls Breath his fated mate. Things I liked, our leading lady is extremely competent without being an assassin grade black belt... Even though they can't communicate for most of the book they figure it out fairly well. Fun pink space Kitty familiar! My favorite part was that this story had not one but two heists! It really kept things entertaining! They were able to work together extremely well as a team. Even when they couldn't communicate well in the beginning. So good and bad news, I didn't realize the next book is out yet BUT it comes out in March. So I don't have long to wait. It sounds like there is a possibility for at least 3 if not more to come.
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Claimed by the Alien Rogue by Krista Luna is a sci-fi romance. It's the first book from the Fated Mates of the Zaarn series.
Cara Peterson decided to go to space for a better life. Her position as a peacekeeper was to protect the rest of the women. She was abruptly woken up by the gray aliens and was auctioned to other aliens. Thankfully for her, a blue warrior saved her. Gravin along with his crew went to Holvo in order to find parts for Daredevil. There he saw a beautiful female. He immediately recognized her as his fated mate. He wouldn't let anyone mess with her. Cara loved the attention Gravin showed her but she wasn't made of glass. So when it was time to save the other girls she wasn't going to be left out of the rescue team.
This new series is amazing. I love the combination of fun, steamy romance, and action. It has good world-building, very nice descriptions, and a dual pov. The story is mostly focused on the romance between the two main characters. Apart from that, we are introduced to the other alien species and the background story of the "space demons". I loved all the characters but my favorite is still the space kitty!!!
I can't wait to read the other books! I will rate it with 5 stars.
Title: Claimed by the Alien Rogue Author: Krista Luna Pages: 263 Release Date: 31 January 2023
⭐⭐⭐
~ Cara went to space looking for adventure, but when she wake up and realise she's being sold, she can honestly say this isn't what she signed up for. However when a blue demon with horns and a tail comes to her rescue and helps her escape she might be willing to readjust her plans for this Grumpy alien who treats her like gold.
Gravin was banished from his home world because he didn’t have a fated mate, however he found her on the most unexpected of places - an auction block being sold to a mob boss.
So he does the most obvious thing - he steals her.
He wantes her badly, but between the fact that they can't talk, being on the run and being unable to give her the mating vow it feels like everything is stacked against them. ~
Guys this was honestly such an enjoyable read and I'm so excited to join Krista Luna on this new adventure in a new world.
Cara and Gravin were absolutely ADORABLE and I loved them so much. Like you vould feel how important the mating was for Gravin, but also how important Cara was to him. Honestly he is a new favourite alien book boyfriend.
~ I can definitely recommend joining this new series and getting to know these characters as we go along. ~
