Someone was out to kill all the members of Dog Team, the secret arm of army assassins assigned to protect American ideals. Their leader, Kilroy, just missed dying because he and another investigator in Africa stayed behind to check out another lead. The eight other investigators and their carefully amassed evidence of a conspiracy between China, an American security company, and a rich man, only to have the plane blown up. Kilroy and the investigator flee into the swamplnad with an army after them.

In the States, Steve Ireland meets the new neighbors in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia, gets close to one young woman, and is having dinner with them, only to find they are a family of assassins assigned to kill the Dog Team members. He just manages to escape, although wounded, taking out four members of the family.

When the smoke cleared, eighteen members of Dog Team were dead. Kilroy assembles the remaining five with two missions: destroy the rich man's wealth, then his life. And find the traitor in their midst who's funnled enough information about them to get three quarters of them killed.
