Ruined Records #3

No Omega Needed

Rate this book
Being a beta in a world where alphas are meant for omegas is hard.

Then Love McKinley had to go and make things even harder by falling in love with not one, but two alphas, completely off the script she had for her life. Add in one giant birth-control screw-up and she can't let herself think too hard about what might happen if her alphas meet their omega.

After all, one perfectly compatible scent could rip away everything in the blink of an eye.

But life as the longtime girlfriend of one of the most popular rock bands of a generation isn't easy to begin with, and Love isn’t about to crumble when things get tough. Toss in a couple of alpha security guys who aren’t intimidated in the least by her baby bump, a fight for social justice, and a father motivated only by appearances?

Things are about to get really interesting.

More info can be found in the Author's Note.
This book three in the Ruined Records series. It features a new FMC and love interests. If you start here you'll get the full scope of their relationship, but you will miss out on some of the backstory.

"I'm fond of Kitten as a human being. But the woman I'm in love with…" I catch her eyes. "Is a beta who refuses to see that she's just as important and worthy as an omega. Trust me, I know I've got no room to talk because I have my own shit to work on. But I love you. I want to be with you. No omega needed."

I was already a huge fan of Jillian’s earlier omegaverse offerings, and this third book in the Ruined Records series raised the bar even higher. We met the FMC in the duet that gave us Lyric’s HEA. In No Omega Needed, we get to watch the foibles surrounding Baby Love and her men, the rock stars, Dexter and Isaac, and the two security guards, Riggs and Walker,

This is a high-angst story. As a beta, Baby Love never feels like she is good enough, or will ever be enough to satisfy and keep the alphas who love her. She fears that they will eventually find their omega and leave her, so she constantly holds herself apart and denies the bonds her alphas offer her. She feels like a burden, even as she carries one of their babies. It hurt so much to read through her internal struggles. And, since it is told in multiple 1st person POVs, we see how it affects the men who love her, who want to show her how much they want her and only her forever. Plus, we get to see their undying love for Baby Love, straight from the horse’s mouth.

There is additional drama with Dexter, which we were expecting from events occurring in the duet. He doesn’t make the best choices, but he eventually pulls his head out of his ass. Love makes you do stupid things sometimes, especially when you are harboring issues from childhood trauma.

This baby is fast burn and scalding hot! Baby Love is a beta, so you won’t get any heat scenes, but that doesn’t mean she is lacking in a healthy sex drive. She is full of pregnancy hormones that ramp up her already high appetite, and she has no problem with taking what she needs. She has four men more than willing to help her out. There are MF, MFM, group scenes, and eventual MM content.

This is not a standalone, as you need to have read The Ruined Records Duet before cracking into No Omega Needed. However, this one does end in a HEA for Baby Love and her men. I’ve loved the entire series and fallen in love with each character in the big family unit. I highly recommend that lovers of OV check out this contemporary offering to the genre.

Fabulous job by the narrator team to bring this story to life!! As always, Vanessa Moyen was phenomenal, Michael Gallagher’s sexy voice made the abundant spicy scenes NSFW, and I felt Drew Mehrtens rumbly, growly Issac deep in my core. They are a perfect fit for Jillian West’s omegaverse.

Highly recommended listen!

This honestly felt like such a non story.

Love's men are basically interchangeable with Lyric's men:
➡️ Dexter is Lachlan
➡️ Isaac is Griffin
➡️ Vince is Rook
➡️ Jude is Crewe

The vocabulary used by the men is the exact same as the guys in Lyric's story.
"dick sucking master", "filthy kiss", "dirty kiss" etc etc etc..

Love's inner monologues about not being an omega and not begrudging Lyric are tiring. I get that she is scared, but there are examples of betas and alphas living in packs without omegas - Jude's parents being once example.

The constant comparing and contrasting about Love being TOTALLY different from Lyric was weird. Like say it once and be done with it; no need to keep repeating it. It was like the guys were trying to convince themselves that they didn't need an omega.

I actually didn't like Vince in this. He has the audacity to not want to share Love with the guys even though he's basically a blow in and has barely been with them for 5 minutes!

I wasn't convinced of the love Jude and Vince have for Love. Isaac and Dexter I get, but the other two? It came across as lust and loneliness, nothing more. Like, they all of a sudden realise they are in love with Love when she is being essentially f*cked by the others at the time... It was not convincing in the least.

I will say it again - the MM in this felt forced. Just because one of the men in the pack sucked a dick a time or two doesn't mean he needs to be paired up with one of the guys as well as the FMC. This is marketed as Reverse Harem, but it's a Poly story. I wish authors would make that distinction when marketing their books.

Verdict:
Could have had potential but the author did a bit of a copy paste sitch with the men and the non story about Love's family was underwhelming when there was no proper conclusion.

There is no omega
4.5 stars.
Sometimes it was 4 stars sometimes it was a solid five but I did love seeing them become one big pack.

I'm not sure why but even with the title I was sure they were going to get an omega. I will say it's pacing is off some parts dragged but those scenes were necessary. This would have been better spit into two books it wouldn't have been so long!
I loved Love and Isaac from the beginning. He's all about his beta and it made me wish I had my own. Dex was annoying and I wish it hadn't taken him 70% of the book to clean up his drug addiction! I wanted them to cut him out of their lives. It became redundant and they gave him too many chances. I did like that he ended up in AA meeting for his addiction but damn he took up page space with his problems and it drug on.

No heat scenes in an omegaverse is a bold move but it's well done.

I don't know how I felt about Dex and Jude in the epilogue. I liked that Jude didn't want anything to do with Dexter hitting on him so for them to end up together in the future seemed weird. Also why no MM in the story only in the epilogue???

With all Ms West's books this is character driven. Skip it if you want standard omegaverse or lot of action.

Love is beta who is in a relationship with Isaac and alpha. She's had a lifetime of hearing alphas are meant for omegas but she fell for Isaac and now she's always waiting for the other shoe to drop.

You go back in time for this one so you're reliving a lot of the events in Madness through Love's perspective. I absolutely loved Walker and Riggs! They didn't disappoint.

Isaac was the rock Love needed from the very beginning but after the baby is born we learn even he's had his own issues to work through. The only person I wasn't sold on was Dexter. I did come to understand why he was the way he was but I didn't grow to love him like the others.

Incredible pack dynamics but no heats means this reads like a standard rh rather than an omegaverse. It is set in ABO though I'm guessing to line up with the duet.

No cheating.
No OW/OM drama on page. We got to see Dex flirting but no sex or relationship.
Isaac is aware of her bringing in new people and helps facilitate it.
No Omega or Heats

I loved seeing both sides of the pack in the epilogues! I live to see the happily ever after and I cannot wait to see who is in Cove's book since the author announced we meet them in Love's book. Overall it was longer than I wished it was but I'll never penalize for extra pages in a book I enjoyed.

Baby Love is my f*cking LOVE!
It's rare I'm with the fmc from page one but I couldn't help but route for her! She's funny and sassy. I wanted more Daddy Vince!!!!

My favorite quotes
Issac motherf*cking Matthews
Love and I are a f*cking team. If she's got a problem, then I've got a problem. I'm a big motherf*cker. Most people don't want to make a problem out of me.

This made me laugh way to hard
"Yeah, it takes some balls to bang that guy's girlfriend." Kitten cackles. "Want me to have Saint give them a pep-talk?"

This one quote changed my feelings on Dexter he was broken but still trying to be a good guy.
"I'm going to f*ck it all up. It's really better if I'm not in the baby's life at all. I've never even held a real baby before," I say before I can stop myself. Walker frowns at me. "Babies are like this whole entire new life you're one hundred percent responsible for. What if I drop it? I don't have a clue how to not f*ck this up and it's the most important thing I've ever done…"
😭😭😭
"The woman I'm in love with…" I catch her eyes. "Is a beta who refuses to see that she's just as important and worthy as an omega. Trust me, I know I've got no room to talk because I have my own sh*t to work on. But I love you. I want to be with you. No omega needed."

And can I just say omfg that delivery scene???? Jude Walker is in my permanent harem with Lochlen 🤤🤤🤤

I have been waiting for Love’s book since I met her in Ruined! And I was not disappointed.
Love is a sassy beta, who takes no crap from anyone. Yet she still has that little voice in her head that tells her she’s just a beta. That one day her guys will meet their omega.
The thing is Issac,Dexter,Jude and Vince are happy with Love. They only have eyes for her and love her more than anything.
I love how Jillian West touches on real life issues. Her books aren’t your run of the mill omegaverse.
Will that make some people uncomfortable? Sure! But I love it!
I love Issac and how hard he loves her!
I love Dexter and how he loves his “Baby" just as much but is so scared.
And Jude… oh goodness Jude is so sweet (and the chemistry between him and Dexter 🔥🥵) of course get Love in the middle and it’s even better!
Vince… he struggles with the sharing aspect of a pack. But for Love he will do anything for her.

Do yourself a favor and pick this one up! It’s long but well worth it. I recommend reading Ruined Records first.

I'd say this book was about 95% smut, with pregnancy smut and orgies up until around 70% and then postpartum smut and orgies the rest of the book after she gave birth. The rest of the 5% was relationship, political, and parental drama that I found a little repetitive and boring. Similar to the first duet in the series, I wasn't a fan of the casual drug use and acceptance that rock stars needed it to cope. I also didn't particularly like the extended miscommunication and low self-esteem from most of the characters whether it be from age or previous life experiences.

The author noted that this wasn't supposed to be a standalone and you needed to read the previous duet first, but honestly, I thought you could get by with reading this book alone with just a general idea of the characters involved. There were spoilers for Lyric's duet, but I didn't remember most of the details anyways and followed along the story just fine.

I thought the series so far in general was okay - I'm usually not a fan of contemporary and need more fantastical elements, especially with omegaverse. While this was a story with betas and alphas, their designation didn't have that much to do with anything other than some insecurity about forever relationships. It made the story too realistic to be my cup of tea, and the amount of smut scene after scene was a little too much for me. The characters were already all introduced to each other before the story started, so I found the pacing of the main story to be glacial for a 450+ page book.

The author also likes adding 5+ extended epilogues in their books, and while some were cute, I thought others were unnecessary and ended up skimming them (e.g. the M/M pairing with new BDSM details was very last minute and out of place IMO)

Even with all my issues, I would probably give future books in the series another chance.

Now I LOVE Jillian West, but I will admit that I was nervous about this book. While Jillian is an incredible author, to write an Omegaverse without an Omega is a risky (albeit bold) move... but she NAILED it!

No Omega needed follows Love, the sassy Beta we first met in the Ruined Records Duet. Despite the constant reassurances from her men, Love is extremely insecure. She believes that the Alphas she love will one day want an Omega, this broke my heart so much. Love feels like a burden, and all these insecurities make her reject their bonds. I LOVED how supportive her men were, and how they adapted to her needs. I took a little bit of time to get behind Dexter, but he came good in the end and his baggage was understandable.

THIS BOOK HAD TOP TIER SPICE

Love may not have heats, but her sex drive is through the ROOF. The scenes from this book will live rent free inside my head forever.

Although they don't follow the same MC's, this book is NOT a stand alone. So run along and read Left in Ruins and Madness (Ruined Records Duet) first.

Thank you to Jillian West for allowing me to be a part of your ARC team, and for such a wonderfully unique and contemporary look at Omegaverse

When I saw who this book was going to be about I immediately knew I needed to read it!

Love is a pregnant beta with insecurities. See she's got the love of Issac a rockstar and alpha. As a beta though can she really expect him to stick around? Dexter another alpha and childhood friend of Issac is also involved with Love. He's a flirty hyperactive alpha. While his relationship with Love is very clear to those around them they each carry baggage that's tearing them apart. Enter in 2 other Alphas to the mix and this beta has got a harem going.

I loved this story so much! We got to see all these characters interact with each other and some more backstory. I think Grandma Walker turned out to be my favorite. It was a tough competition but I loved how upfront he was with Love. Now if you don't get that reference then you haven't read the Ruined Records duet. Which means stop what you're doing read that first and then start this one. Be prepared for a pregnant beta, rockstars, bodyguards and Jillian West's 🌶 book yet!

We get some wonderful epilogues that are making me so excited to finally get Cove's book! Seriously can't wait to see these characters again.

I haven't had a lot of luck with this series so far. This book falls flat too. There is a lot of context missing if you haven't read the first two books, and even when events eventually move past that timeline, there's often details missing. There is no explanation for the missing information, just an assumption that you should've known what happened between scenes.

There relationship conflict rises from insecurity about self-worth, and it gets beaten to death. Lots of repative thoughts about not being an omega and the alphas eventually meeting their scent omega match. It sometimes felt like copy and past of the negative thoughts they were so repetitive and lacked any variations.

Multiple POV but it was often only a reflection of the characters' thoughts. The reader would get a character back story, but the information never seemed to be conveyed to the other characters in the realistic way a relationship can develop. Often, any interactions between characters would be conveyed as an event that took place in the past. The reader hardly ever experiences real-time interactions between characters unless it involves sex or climatic plot scenes. The conflict details happened off the page and told the reader in hindset but rarely experienced as it happens to the character.

A lot of teenage drama and inmature character development for supposedly adults.

some parts I loved…some parts made no sense

No Omega Needed by Jillian West is the third book in the Ruined Records series, and is sadly not as good as the first two books in the series which followed Lyric Sinclair.

As always West delivers in the writing and storyline, but she fails in fully fleshing out a few main characters, and adds sexual scenes that were unneeded in this storyline.
**SPOILERS**
No Omega needed follows Baby Love McKinley, Lyrics very best friend. If you read the first two books then you know exactly who she is…and who a few of her men are. **HERES where it went south for me. In No Omega needed, West gives Love 4 guys for her harem. Sadly only three of them make an impression and “make sense” in Love’s life (at least the way West wrote them).

Love is best friends (other than Lyric) with Dex, and is the significant other to his band mate Isaac. Dex and Isaac met Love at the same time, and Isaac called “dibs” on dating her -I think if Dex had spoken up about his feelings, how he wanted to date Love too, that he liked her, he would’ve found that his friend (best friend at the time) threw the “dibs” comment out as a joke. And would’ve shared Love immediately, instead he (Dex) let his insecurities tank both his relationship and friendship with Love and Isaac. Oh he was still portrayed as the necessary third in their relationship, but West wrote him off as a man-whore and serial player, but wants the reader to believe he’s madly in love with Love - it just didn’t “jive.” Meanwhile at present, Love is very pregnant with either Isaac or Dex’s child (they, all 3 of them shared in Lyrics Heat) and one of her best guy friends/lovers knocked her up. Lyric who wants to protect her best friend from a crazed stalker, “gives” two of her own security guards to Love, Riggs and Walker. The book gets even wonkier from that moment because Riggs and Walker are clearly written as potential harem members, but only one of them, Riggs, really makes sense. Walker is 1) not given enough page time 2) comes off as exciting as an old dish rag 3) given so few “Alpha” traits he comes off (in what little time you have with him) more Beta than Alpha.

Then the biggest reason this RH wasn’t as good as the first two books: the bisexuality was really just awkwardly portrayed/written, and honestly totally unnecessary in the book. Maybe if Loves story was a two book duet like Lyrics was, it would’ve made more sense. The reader would get more time to explore the bisexual aspect of the story. In Lyrics duet we have two books (and it’s made clear very early on in the story) that Callan Crews is bisexual, since he and lyric bonded over helping one another through grief. Callans lover, Bryan committed suicide and Callan was also at the time dating a woman, Christy. The reader had two books to get used to Callan and Ryder’s relationship, and although I thought the m/m aspect in Ruined, and Madness wasn’t fully necessary, since BOTH men love Lyric the most i.e. it’s written that Ryder is Lyrics soulmate, heck even Callan says so when he bonds both of them. But you’re supposed to believe that Ryder (who is essentially broken by Lyrics departure) falls in love and into bed with Callan. Again, though, you get two books to REALLY get to know both Callan and Ryder. In No Omega Needed that is very much NOT the case. The story revolves around Love and really around Love and Dex, and the fact that both love each other but can’t communicate it. That Love is Isaacs girl, and Dex is her and her guy’s best friend. How do you go from friends to lovers when both parties have too much pride and are stubborn as heck. Isaac is necessary because he’s trying to get Love and Dex together because he knows they love one another. So much of this book is devoted to just that; Love and Dex’s struggle to overcome their pride and insecurities and admit they love one another (and it’s not just sex). There is a brief mention (very brief) from Dex’s POV where he says LOVE IS EVERYTHING TO HIM, and although he doesn’t discriminate against the gender of his sexual partners…that he’d never be with another guy (if Love loved and committed to him) because he would always see Love as HIS ONLY TRUE ONE. Then in walks Walker one of Loves new security guards and you get an equally BRIEF mention from Jude Walker’s POV that is pretty much the same as Dex’s. Walker his hardly in the book, a few very important moments are seen through his POV, but in those moments all his musings are about Love, and how she’s IT for him, and yeah, Dex might be handsome but it’s Love he’s in love with. And again, if she asked or showed him it wasn’t ok with her or she was uncomfortable with their m/m relationship he’d be fine, because he had her.

Suddenly toward the end of the book, and I mean the very end, you have two totally unnecessary sex scenes with m/m between Dex and Jude. It’s like BOOM you go from, hey yes, I can appreciate that he’s handsome to, “Oh I Love you Love, but I’m going to sleep with the man you love.” Huh? In trying to “legitimize” Dex and Walkers sexual relationship the author just throws in a random sex scene toward the end, and an awkward “talk” about being bisexual, but that they’re definitely more in love with love, she’s their “epicenter.” But again, the author confuses us because at THE VERY END, Dex and Love will not get married unless Walker joins them too, because hey, suddenly it’s gone from, “I only love, Love,” to “I’m interested in guys, hey I’ll sleep with one of loves harem but make it clear that Love is the priority,” concluding with ultimately the same level of love between them all. This happens WAAAAY too quickly, and doesn’t have enough buildup. Hesitant looks, and blushes, does not a sexual and romantic relationship make! Especially when both men continue to wax poetic about the love of their lives, Love. Honestly it was seriously just a weird “twist,”/mind bender, and again, if going in this direction, Love’s story should’ve continued past just one book!

No Omega Needed by Jillian West is the third in the Ruined Records Series. This follows Baby Love McKinley, a Beta, and her two Alpha's, Isaac and Dexter. Love is a strong, smart, loving FMC. Love does add two more Alpha's to her pack. Both of them I loved immediately. Dexter I loved and not liked at the same time. Love has such a kind heart that she loves him unconditionally. Great story. Loved watching Dexter get himself figured out. Loved watching Love gather her pack. We do see Lyric and her guys, and Kitten and her guys. I loved watching it all come together. Great epilogues. Some TW to watch out for. No bullying.

Every single one of Jillian’s books are better than the last, I’m not even kidding.

I thought “A Pack for Christmas” was great, then I read “Ruined Records”. I enjoyed that so much that I dove headfirst into “Not Many Options” and fell in love with the cast. Now. I finished “No Omega Needed” and am looking around wondering what’s next?!

This book is phenomenal. Out of all the women Jillian has written, I found Baby to be one of the most real and authentic. She has her own insecurities but loves hard. I appreciated that Jillian didn’t write these problems passively and that they didn’t go away overnight. Sure, there were times when I wanted to grab Baby by the shoulders and shake some sense into her, but when you take a step back, you realize that the time is what makes it all the more real.

Similar to Baby’s authenticity is Dexter. Dex is one of the OG three, with him, baby, and Isaac being the pack (before the pack). Dex is a coke user and was a character that, initially, really ticked me off. I just couldn’t understand the logic behind someone wanting to continue using when a child is about to be in the picture. It took about 75% of the book before he quits, and while I was annoyed it took that long, I know it was intentional and a more realistic representation of someone suffering from addiction. You can’t quit overnight and you have to want it yourself. It took Dex 75% of the book to commit to quitting and that’s when you can see him turn around. At that point, Dex became one of my favorite characters.

The rest of the men were such dolls. Ironically, none of them really wanted to be part of a pack. Or rather, none of them saw themselves in a pack. Naturally, there were some bumps, but the love they shared for Baby are them really try to put aside their differences. We also got to see some of the men, mainly Riggs, struggle with sharing Baby, which is a unique perspective you don’t see often in RH. Once again, West writes these issues with such grace that you can’t help but connect to the characters.

I can’t say it enough. Jillian West is a new face in OV but is such an incredible writer. I can’t wait to see what she writes next. If it’s anything like this series then I know it’s going to be enjoyable.

This is a great read if you're looking for a pregnant fmc.

The first half of the book nearly did my head in because the miscommunication between Dex and Baby Love was annoying. I totally understand why it was written this way, but it just hurt to see them being so dumb. I LOVED Jude. Reading characters who are on the spectrum without it being blaringly obvious makes me happy. This was a good story, though it was filled with more spicy times than I'd have liked...I know, I know to expect more boning in omegaverse/rh reads, but when it's too much, I have to skim. Though, i imagine most folks reading these books like all that extra spicy action, so if that's you, then you should read this. ❤✌

• Om*gaverse
• Why Choose
• Rockstar Romance
• A neurodivergent alpha
• Super Sp*cy
• Ex-military alphas
• 4 possessive alphas
• 1 sweet beta FMC

This book was so sweet, swoony, and full of all the cozy feels. For a book without an omega Jillian sprinkled in ALLLL THE SP*CE!!! In my opinion, this might be one of her spicest books!! 🥵

In a world where Omegas are worshiped its not always easy for Betas. Especially when the only way to legally form a pack is through an Omega. Which leaves Baby Love with all kinds of insecurities because of her designation. And since she's carrying a baby of two famous alpha rockstars Baby Love knows to keep her heart guarded the best she can. Which isn't easy when she has 4 alphas showering her in kisses and attention!

"I'll keep them for as long as I can."

Baby stole my heart right away. I loved watching Baby's character get the love she deserved. She was so gentle and sweet, but so fiesty when she needed to be!

The alphas:

Gah. I loved Isssac. This man was constantly reassuring Baby. Showering her with love. Making sure she felt heard. And he wasn't afraid to share her! 🥰

Jillian always does such an incredible job with her neurodivergent characters. And she really nailed it with Jude. I absolutely adored this gentle alpha!

"Daddy" Riggs! This man wasn't afraid to threaten a spanking! 🤣😉

Dexter's character took me a while to really understand and like. He was definitely alittle more rough around the edges. I was always thankful for his POVs because they really helped you understand what was going on with his side of things and why he did the things he did! I definitely grew to love him!

This is definitely my favorite Omegaverse I have ever read without an omega! I was reluctant at first! But Jillian has literally never done me wrong in the past!

Audio Review:

Vanessa Moyen was the perfect Baby! She brought out the playful side of Baby so well. And she nailed the Male characters voices so well!!! I can't wait to listen to more audiobooks narrated by her! I always LOVE to see Michael Gallagher's name in an audiobook! He's one of my favorite male narrators. And always delivers! He did such a great job on Dexter, Jude, and Vince'scharacters! There couldnt have been a better voice for Issac besides Drew Mehrtens. He's voice is so growly and deep!! Exactly how I pictured Issac's voice to sound!! All of these narrators really nailed this performance!!

I think this needed to be a duet OR 150+ pgs shorter. There wasn’t a lot of room for the relationship development since 80% of the book was focused on mental health and open communication.

I did like seeing how the big pack came together. Families come in all shapes and sizes and it was wonderful to have a large blended family be the focus.

So much emotional connection and smutty goodness

Every time I see a new book released by Jillian West I RUN to get it. Her books give me life!

I’m absolutely stoked that Baby Love got her own book and I really enjoyed reading about her growing harem.

The emotional connections that Love developed with her men drew me in completely. I adore Isaac, I’m besotted with Walker, Riggs is so endearing and Dexter Clark… man the amount of lust and love I feel for that guy is crazy.

His growth throughout the book was amazing to see and his connection to Walker was adorable!

I love that there was an epilogue by each of her men. Seeing from their POV was so positive. The amount of love they grew for each other and for their child was perfect.

If you enjoy excellent romantic connections, br33ding k!nk, alphas being caring and doting and so much smutty goodness this is the book for you!

I cannot get enough of Jillian’s writing. I’m pretty sure she’s gained a st@lker for life. Im obsessed with her writing, she’s just SO GOOD!!

This was the only Jillian West book I had not read. I’d been putting it off because I was nervous to be in Baby Love’s head. She’s a Beta that’s been with Isaac, an Alpha, for years and she’s always been worried that he’ll leave her for an Omega someday. She’s also pregnant. The father could be Isaac or their best friend Dex - because Isaac likes to share. And there’s two bodyguards in the mix. So, lots of potential drama. I did really enjoy this and I know I psyched myself out from reading it sooner. The characters do not always make the best choices and are selfish, jealous, and filled with anxiety, but that’s real. The communication was always improving because none of these characters were great at vulnerability. It was definitely different reading an OV with no Omega. You should read the first two books in the series to get the full enjoyment. Even with no heat, there’s lots of spice and plenty of sharing.

I am so happy we got to hear Love's side of the story and find out what happened for her. In Lyric's book, we watched Love and Dex dance around each other, but we didn't know what was going on behind the scenes. I already loved how attentive and devoted Issac was, but it was a big surprise to me that Grandpa Jude came out as my favorite! I won't spoil anything, but the first epilogue brought tears to my eyes. The love between Baby Love and Lyric and all the guys was overwhelmingly wonderful. It was the best happy ending for all of them!

This is a very typical Jillian West non-paranormal omegaverse. If you liked the others, you’ll likely like this. I always tend to score a star higher for the easiness of reading. These books flow well and I don’t find myself having to go back a re-read to try to figure out what is happening. With that said, just like with the other books, there are things that could be flushed out a little better. For one, Isaac….he spends time and energy bringing Riggs and Jude in but completely ignores the pain his two favorite people are causing each other? Like I get that he was scared about what would happen with the pregnancy but what about all the time before that? They had known each other for so long that it felt like all those issues could have and should have been resolved prior to the pregnancy. Second, Riggs….he just didn’t belong. He didn’t fit well with any of the guys and there was never any real reason why he and Love should have connected. At least with Jude, he provided Love with a level of openness, honestly and authenticity that she really needed to feel confident and he helped Dex which, in turn, helped Love. But, RIggs did what for who?? It’s not that he was unlikeable but he didn’t add value to the plot. Aside from the unnecessary/unbelievable angst between him and Love, I really liked Dex’s character which makes sense because I liked Lachlan and they are basically interchangeable. The fact that the men in Ruined and No Omega Needed as basically the same has to be overlooked in order to enjoy this one for what it is. It’s also weird that there are never any other members of Matted Whine mentioned….like you don’t have a drummer??? All in all, I still liked the book. My critiques aren’t ones that prevented me from enjoying the story.

Sexy, sweet Omegaverse romance

📖 No Omega Needed by Jillian West

🎙️ Narrated by Vanessa Moyen, Michael Gallagher, and Drew Mehrtens

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ / 5

Baby Love Mackenzie is a Beta who has fallen in love with a pair of Alphas and is pregnant with one of their baby, but she’s reluctant to start a real relationship with the daddies.

In this Omegaverse, Alphas can scent match to an Omega, basically becoming irrevocably attracted to each other, even if they’re in a loving relationship. Baby Love’s concern is that she’ll dedicate her life to an Alpha, just to have him scent match to an Omega in the future.

If you’re familiar with Jillian West’s stories, you’ll know that Baby isn’t settle with only two Alphas 😅 She also catches the hearts of two other alphas on her security team, Riggs and Walker who we met in the previous Ruined Records duet.

This story was on the sweeter side of the Omegaverse. The characters have tragic pasts, but the love they show for each other is wonderful. The guys all fall hard for Baby Love and cherish her and her baby bump. It’s still super sexy, especially with four Alphas in the mix. Having a Beta FMC gives an interesting perspective into the Omegaverse, which is normally Alpha and Omega centric.

TDLR: Sexy, sweet Omegaverse romance, without an Omega.

From the first book I read to this one, each one just keeps getting better and better! I absolutely love the world that Jillian has created and I can't wait to continue to read more! I have to say I think that this one is by far my favorite so far. I loved every moment in this book, that I didn't want to put it down. It had me in tears on some parts reading because all I wanted was an HEA for Baby.

The FMC Baby deserves so much love from those around her. You get to read about the internal struggles she has at letting anyone near her, especially alphas. These fears cause her to deny the bonds that alphas offer her. All I kept wanting to do was hug this beautiful character. I love the connections she builds with her pack, they are all each so unique and different, and they all bring something that Baby needs and deserves.

Steam? Yes, Jillian had me fanning my face lol. I couldn't get enough, but I loved that it didn't overpower the story that Baby was going through.

Overall, this story was amazing! I loved each and every minute of it and can't wait to see what Jillian writes next! I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone in the mood for omegaverse! You won't be disappointed at all.

**Please note: I got an ARC in exchange for an honest review.**

So, this is the third book in the Ruined Records universe. I already read Lyric's story, and Riley's. I was excited for Love's story. Of course, I will not spoiler anything. So, this is very general. Though, I will probably add a more detailed review, after the book is released.

For now, I really can say I was into this book and the story. I already loved the characters from the few glimpses I got in the Ruined Records duet.

So, I was excited to read the entire story. I wasn't disappointed. So, much I can say. Love is a beta, pregnant and has her own demons. But she is funny, strong and smart as well. And she loves her alphas strongly and unconditionally.

The alphas of the story are first Issac and Dexter, but like already hinted in Lyric's story, there are two more. Vince Riggs and Jude Walker. I loved them all. Though, Dexter was difficult at times.

But in the end they grew together, and overcame their demons. It was amazing to see how they all come together as a family. A really great chemistry.

It was an incredible experience. And I can't wait to read more in the future.

I liked previous books by Jillian West and thought I'd give this a go during a reading slump. My greatest issue with this novel is that it's not really a book on its own. So much of it is dependent on what's going on in parallel, and while I've read novels where it's necessary to read previous books in the series to get the most out of your reading experience, this one just felt overall disjointed. It didn't have its own storyline aside from the fact that it happens at the same time as the previous two in the series. You'd sooner enjoy it better by just jumping out of the main books to go see what's happening here and then going back to the main story.

The smut is good, but it's not good enough to carry a complete absence of plot and to get over the deeply frustrating miscommunication trope as well as the deeply childish characters.

Overall, really needs some thorough re-editing to make this be a book rather than some sort of companion fan fiction of the original two books. The characters desperately need to stand out on their own and also have some good reason to be attracted to each other aside from crazy lust.

I loved the first two books in this series, but for some reason I thought this was going to be more like an interconnected standalone. It’s not. It’s very much the third book in the series. I wish, as I often do, that I’d made the effort to read it closer to the time I read the first two. Oh well.

This one was really good! We got hints of Baby Love and them in the first two books, but it was so great to get to know them more. I liked Love as a side character, but I LOVED Love as a main character.

The MMCs in this one were each really different, which is super important to me in a Why Choose. I enjoyed the hints of rockstar life, political activism, and the overwhelming amount of found family. If that’s your favorite trope, then this book is definitely for you! 🥰

I always know I’m going to enjoy a Jillian West book, and this one did not disappoint.

This story touched on a lot of deep topics and definitely has potential triggers, so please read the warnings. But if none of those are an issue for you, I highly recommend this book, after you’ve read the first two.

Love, Dex, and Izzy’s story from Ruined Records Duet. This isn’t a standalone, you definitely need to read Ruined Records Duet before you read this, but it’s absolutely worth it.

We follow Love through her pregnancy from just before she appears in the Ruined Records Duet. She’s a beta and is very insecure about her Alphas finding an omega. Dex and Izzy are insistent that they don’t need or want an omega, that Love is enough.

We get to see the guys plus two sexy security guards fall in love with Love as she progresses through her pregnancy and the events of the previous books. Her father is an awful man who strongly opposes pack rights and constantly tears down his daughter’s confidence. The guys encourage her to cut him out of her life and into a better headspace about her designation.

I absolutely adored No Omega Needed. It was everything that I hoped for for Live and so much more. You definitely won’t regret picking it up.

I loved this sequel to The Ruined Records Duet. Featuring Love McKinley as the FMC, I think this is the first omegaverse that I've read with a Beta as the MFC and the nucleus of the pack, no omega in the group. You could truly feel Love's struggles to accept that, as a Beta, she is enough for her growing pack of alphas. And I didn't expect to love Derek's character so much. Going into this book, I thought he'd be more of the stereotypical drug-addicted rockstar, but you learn so much about him, that you really just want to give him a hug & lots of love and let him know everything will be okay. I also loved learning more about Isaac, Riggs, & Walker as they all grew into a pack.
You'll need to read The Ruined Records book 1 & 2 before you dive into No Omega Needed. Timelines & characters overlap at times, but these scenes are told from different perspectives, so there's no feeling of repetitiveness.

I would have rated this higher but I had some beef with some artistic choices.

First, the FMCs name. Baby Love McKenzie. Her parents aren't hippies nor are they eclectic. They are the typical run of the mill neglectful parents. The name makes no sense.

Secondly, the author has 6 chapters labeled as Epilogue. There are a few time jumps in these epilogue chapters but in my opinion the real true epilogue occurs in the FINAL epilogue chapter when we see a 9 year jump. The other chapters just feel like an extension to the rest of the story.

Lastly, it is briefly mentioned that you can read this but "you may miss some backstory." No, you miss all the backstory. This should not be read as a standalone. There is so much detail that was absolutely missing when I read this. Specifically regarding Lyric and her Alphas, a lot of that info comes in books 1 and 2.

Don't be me, don't think this can be a standalone. Just don't do it.

Smutty goodness. I actually love an omegaverse book where there's no omega.
Baby is a beta and no less valuable to her pack. She's still the glue that brings them all together. 😍
I was mad at Dexter for probably close to 75% of this book. I just desperately wanted him to get out of his own way, but his struggles definitely brought all the emotions.
I did love seeing the pack grow around Baby Love, especially the two bodyguards who fall in love with her and join after she's already pregnant.

* I did really enjoy this book, but I did feel like it was a little drawn out in places. This was one of Jillian's earlier books, though.
I also loved seeing Lyric from Ruined Records through the point of view of alphas with zero interest in an omega. She really did come across as needy and annoying to them. It was weird not liking her that much, but it was very well done. 😂
