Donovan is a werejaguar sworn to fight against his enemies, the dreaded werewolf clan - the Whitelaws. Isabella is an uncommon librarian, a member of the Committee. When she faces down the Whitelaws to retrieve a very dangerous book, she encounters Donovan and their lives will never be the same.
C.L. Bevill has been in the U.S. Army, cleaned floors, a graphic illustrator, a therapist, and a stay at home mother. She lives in the Alabama area with her husband and daughter and keeps plugging away at the next great American novel.
This was a fast story (99 pages) with a cute plot and hot characters. We have Donovan and Isabella's POVs. Donovan is in the Cat Clan. They can transform into werejaguars. Their enemies are the Whitelaws. They transform into werewolves. As Isabella said: "Cats vs Dogs". And there is Isabella herself, which is from Commitee. She is a weird librarian. She has stolen "The Book of Black Moon" from Jonah Whitelaw and wanted to bring it to the Commitee. Then, Donovan sees her and instantly likes her. He makes a sexy description about her. She's like the perfect woman sort of thing. When she gets injured, Donovan saves her. To prevent her from dying (he said that she already had last beat of her heart) he transforms her into a cat. She wakes up in a bed naked. They start talking (she has a quilt onto her body) and the erotic tension grows... aaand........ they have sex. Wild one actually. And she loses her virginity with him. When they finish, a lot of whitelaws come to his house and they run away. Isabella caries her backpack with the book. She is being caught, by Jonah himself. Then, she has an idea. Nobody but Isabella knew what that book was actually about. So she started telling Jonah what's the thing with this book. And then, she reads some dead language curse and the book throws a kind of portal light, and Isabella catch each and every werewolves into the portal. After she closes the book, she feels that the book is heavier. The Cat Clan appears and Donovan presents Isabella to the boss, Wheeler. He puts Wheeler to take care of the book. Then Isabella transforms into a werejaguar, and she is one of the kind. She is red. Then, Donovan transforms himself too and goes with his mate in the opposite direction to have fun. THE END.
At first, I couldn't understand what the deal was. It was hard to keep up. But as I continued reading, I found this book interesting for a fast-paced book. Even though there was instalove between the two, I accepted the book the way it is and I found it cool. I can say I really liked the ending, that's why i gave it 2,5 stars. I'm looking forward to reading the next one in this Moon Trilogy.
This kindle ebook novella is free from Amazon book 1 of 3
She has stole something from the werewolves. They are chasing her and will catch her shortly. Then a form comes from the side intercepting the two werewolves. Help is here and the fun begins 🐕🐈
I would recommend this series and author to readers looking for a quick interesting characters different novels 😉✨ 2025 🌐🌇
A very rushed (free) short story. I give it 3.5 Stars. The author didn’t let anything linger in this book. Straight to the point! I couldn’t help but laugh at the description of the Isabella. Donavan sat in a tree and watched a beautiful young woman run for her life – hair down to her waist, long sculpted legs, skinny waist that he could fit his hands around, and big bouncing boobs. Anything else? People have flaws. It’s what makes them normal.
Anyway… Donovan sees this woman running and instantly falls in love and knows she is his mate. Isabella is running because she stole the Book of the Black Moon from the werewolf coven and they want it back. Donavan saves Isabella’s life by turning into a Werejaguar. Isabella is badly injured so the only thing Donivan can think of to save her is to turn her into a werejaguar as well. They end up back at his cabin and they end up having sex . Fun. I sort of liked the fast pace because I know 100% if this story dragged on like many others I have read, I would have stopped and put it down, never returning. So, good job for the quick pace. It doesn’t really leave you hanging for more. But... On to the next one! Don't judge me. I like free books.
I confess I am really enjoying this series of Novellas. They are short and sweet and can be read on about 1hr tops so you can work through the series quickly.
This is the first in the series and I guess it was originally written as a trilogy. This first book introduces the Cat Clan and book 4 onwards focuses on characters from this Clan and is kind of a spin off of this original trilogy.
I have to admit this is my favourite so far. We are introduced to our human h who is a kick add librarian for a shadowy organisation tasked with finding an object that could bring about the destruction of the world. A mean clan of Werewolves have it although they are unaware of its power.
The H is a were Jaguar and knows the werewolf clan are up to no good so has them under surveillance. He is an elite warrior for his clan and he spots the h from a mile off with his super senses. He also recognises her as his mate, for him there can be only oneand shes it. Shes also in trouble as she has managed to nick the book and is now running for her life as the evil weres are after her.
The were jaguar helps her out as she is badly injured and tries to get her to help but they are tracked down and the h is even more badly injured and is about to die. H can't have that so "turns her" in the hope that her DNA accepts the were gene and his mate is saved. here were form is also a jaguar but shes red (like her hair)
Together they manage to retrieve the book and defeat the were wolves and she is accepted into the H's clan for a HEA.

good little read. It's very fast with only 88 pages, but the story is well written, and the plot keeps you wanting more.
There are a few things about this book that bothered me such as; the grammar, there were times where it really made me stumble while reading. Also I felt like the whole relationship between Donovan and Isabella was very rushed. I always cringe whenever I am reading a book and the relationship between the main characters consists of meeting, then instant attraction, followed by a romp around the room, and by morning they are totally and completely in love.
It's just not realistic, but all in all I would definitely recommend this book because the story was amazing and despite its quirks I really enjoyed it.
Wow. I think this may have been one of the (if not the) most poorly written stories I've ever read. I do enjoy a good paranormal romance story, but "good" is definitely not an apt descriptor of this story.
The grammar and sentence structure were both horrendously clumsy and, because of this, it was difficult to follow at times. The story moved way too quickly, and the character development was very poor. If I hadn't known it was a short piece, I would have put it down after the first few pages.
If I do read the other two in the series, it will only be for the same reason drivers slow down on the interstate to look at a wreck-sheer morbid fascination with the complete horribleness that is this story.
I feel like this was an intro to a book, rather than a story. It was a quick read without much character development. I would like to know more about the Committee, and I'd like the main characters relationship bud and grow a bit. I just wasn't buying the overnight "I belong to you", even tho that's the way of a lot of these books. There's usually backstory and some sort of antagonist to the relationship. For a short story it was good, and I do look forward to finishing the next 2. I'm a sucker for weres- and such. Werejag is new to me, so I did enjoy that factor.
A Black Moon is the very rare second new moon in a given month. An appropriate name for this story, because it pits a clan of werewolves, primarily evil in nature, against a protective clan of werecats. These particular werewolves are not satisfied with money and power, but have decided to use human weapons and politics to further their aims and to make themselves unofficial kings of each state they conquer. Only the Cat Clan seems able to stand against them, until “uncommon librarian” Isabelle, who works with a very specialized council, steals the Book of the Black Moon away from the werewolf grandson of the original owner. Rescued by Donovan, a fierce warrior of the Cat Clan and a born werejaguar, she is targeted by the Whitelaw werewolves and so is Donovan-for the Whitelaws, without even knowing the terrible world-destroying powers the book possesses, demand its return. This is a very fast-paced story, with sensuality, violence, and occult overtones. I recommend it to readers of the Paranormal who are 18+.
The start of this book takes you straight into the action and it never lets up. The reader is dragged into a world of were-animals and magic that is overlaid on the every day like cars and medicine and guns.
The book is written from both the female lead and the male lead's perspectives which opens up both their worlds to the reader. The overall plot is a classic, boy rescues girl, they continue to get into trouble together and girl does a bit of rescuing of her own, but the joy of this read is in the details. The characters are interesting, their needs and wants are sympathetic and engaging and the book is written in such a way that I, for one, wanted to know what happened next as soon as possible.
It's a short book, but it packs in adventure, confrontation and hot sex. Well worth a read and now I'm going to check out the author's other books.
Donovan is a werejaguar warrior for the werecat clan who's spying on there enemy the evil whitelaws, a werewolf clan who love money & murder.Isabella is a special librarian for a secret committee who job is to protect the human race. The Story starts of interesting & very promising but loses it towards the middle & then kinda cuts short at the end. Which is a shame because I really wanted to get into this book but just couldn't. As with most free books you get what you pay for. Action, Semi Romance, a bit of a plot with lust = Black Moon. All in all ok but not great.
Want to know what I hate more than insta-love? No character development AND insta-love. Granted I suppose I was kind of asking for it by reading a novella that includes romance but still it's something that just makes me cringe. The author does have a fairly nice writing style and the idea overall is decent. I think if Bevill had spent more time developing the story and exploring the characters this could have been a pretty good read, but as is...it's just a rushed romance with a side of whimsy. In fact it's mostly romance after the two main characters meet, and some of it just came off as "I'm confessing my love the second I meet you to progress the storyline quickly." It's okay if you are looking for a short read and nothing deep but don't go into expecting too much. I'll only read the second if I ever need a quick read to fill time.
A fantastic paranormal romance short which reminds me of an original and more imaginative Twilight. The main character Isabella Morgan is a librarian for an obscure group calling themselves the Committee who are dedicated to keeping paranormal objects away from those who might use them for harmful or erroneous ends.
The author begins with the romantic link and were-jaguar Donovan Lawton watching over Isabella as she is pursued by the werewolves of Whitelaw. She has taken a strange book from them and the werewolves are hungry for the return of the book... and her blood!
As we see the characters meet and their relationship grow as they fight for their lives, their romance is complicated by the constant pursuit of the angered werewolves leading to the climax where she is forced to face off against her werewolf enemies.
Being such a short book and free of charge, it is definitely worth a read when you have a spare afternoon to discover the outcome. I would recommend this book however I will say there are a handful of minor editorial mistakes/erroneous words included which mean you will have to read carefully to see what the author is trying to say.

I have to say, this was one of the worst books I've ever read. I downloaded it on my nook because it was free and part of a trilogy... I thought, "why not?" This book was very reminiscent of Twilight. It was too fast-paced. The characters were poorly developed and I didn't understand why they were doing what they were doing. The main character, Donovan, was controlling and would probably be defined as a batterer. There were also terrible analogies... there was something like, "my adrenaline was rushing like I had too many lattes from Starbucks" or something like that, and multiple grammar and spelling errors. Just awful. And I hate to say it, but I'm going to read the second and third books of the trilogy, so be expecting more negative reviews.
Just a 'sketch' of a shapeshifer romance. Free is good, but sometimes you get what you pay for. In this case that's a very short shapeshifter romance where the mate bond does all the work. And with some steamy stuff thrown in, there's not much space to develop the characters, the relationship after throwing in some action and a just a bit of story. The other two stories are better, but if you are thinking of reading them at all plan on reading them together because the next one just sort of stops and the final one picks up pretty much right after.
Not bad for something so short. Some background was given for both characters and the warring shapeshifter clans, and I enjoyed the writing for the most part, however the whole fated-to-be-mated theme was ridiculously overdone. It just left me cringing every time they declared their need for one another when they'd literally just met.
A nice start to a series. It moved quickly and introduced the Committee as a group determined to keep dangerous magical items out of the hands of those that would abuse them. Despite the length, Isabella and Donovan were both given a bit of backstory and they come together in a satisfactory manner.
This book was very fast paced from the start. I finished the book within an hour since it was 88 pages. I hope in the next book I get to hear more about the werecats, Isabella, Donovan, and where the werewolves went. I also felt as though the relationship between Donovan and Isabella was rushed. The only complaint I have is the grammer in some parts. Other than that the book was great.
First let me say that even though this book is short I am thankful that it is a series so I am not left hanging as to what is going to happen next with the Book of the Black Moon. The power this book has is freaky and dangerous and I want to know more. I wish I could offer more info in this review but I don't want to give anything away.
It was too short. It seemed to be a mix of Twilight and the Sooke Stackhouse books. I have not read the next two but was thinking the concept could have been stretched and filled out a bit more. That said, I am looking forward to the next two books in the series.
Neville does a great job of describing the characters and making you feel like you know them. The attention to detail is excellent and I can visualize the area so well in my mind. Can't wait to read the next book in the series!
This was the first paranormal romance I read and I loved it!!! This story takes off with a bang and keeps you on the edge of your seat! I am forever a true Paranormal fan!
