So, even though I loved the first two books of this series. Even though I love Alexandria Bellefleur, I just didn’t like this one at all.

The characters were cute and realistic, and the side characters were lovely and had already been richly developed. The writing was funny, the humor right up my alley. But.

But.

The Second Chance Romance part of this Second Chance Romance completely drained the story of the yearning that makes her writing so great. Their history was used as an excuse to 3 / 5 stars

So, even though I loved the first two books of this series. Even though I love Alexandria Bellefleur, I just didn’t like this one at all.

The characters were cute and realistic, and the side characters were lovely and had already been richly developed. The writing was funny, the humor right up my alley. But.

But.

The Second Chance Romance part of this Second Chance Romance completely drained the story of the yearning that makes her writing so great. Their history was used as an excuse to not develop the relationship or not include the yearning.

The angst and development that was there felt really rushed, too. Especially the last part. If this had had maybe twenty or fifty more pages maybe everything didn’t have to happen at once. Maybe things could have been a bit more developed or logical.

The development, especially, was built off the ruination of the perception of the Main Characters from the previous books. They didn’t have to be so mildly awful all the time. Now I’m not rooting for anythone. Maybe there should have been a little more development and care for it. I don’t know. I’m a reader not a writer.

Personally, that’s why I’m here. If I didn’t want that I wouldn’t be reading romance, or continuing this series, etc.

I mean, they were still cute. The characters weren’t the problem. It was the premise itself. The execution. Which is greatly unfortunate because now I have to live with the knowledge that the fabulous author isn’t inhuman. Whatever shall I do.

Don’t mind me as I think about the other books in this series and pretend this one didn’t happen. I pretend I do not see.

It was still cute, though. And funny. I’ll take it where I can get it. ...more
