Going to take some time to let this one settle -- too many emotions, feelings and thoughts still clanging around in my head to even begin to consider a thoughtful meaningful review.

This one is about as real as it gets -- and not always for the better. The authors did an amazing job putting this story on the pages. I honestly just didn't like Katy. I hate what she went through, both she and Chris (Briggs), but there was nothing about her even before their ordeal that I found appealing.

I don't know what either man felt for her, even though you can clearly see that for whatever reasons they both did. I got it more with Gavin due to the flashbacks, but I didn't get it with Chris.

I totally understood the connection he and Katy had after what they went through together, but actually falling in love with one an ...more

This book.
This book gutted me.
I can't even say it put me back together again because I am still reeling with the ending. I am still upset over the turn of events.
It is raw, heartbreaking, and definitely not for the faint at heart.
Its not your typical romance. Its not your typical triangle. Its not your typical cheating.
The military and war aspect of the book will have your heart in pieces.

I have no idea how to rate this. My head says this is a 5 star read but my heart says a 2. This is heartbreaking, intense and depressing. I hated everything about it, but I couldn’t put it down. It’s an important educating read that I felt had no winners. Well maybe one (who shall remain nameless). Even though I hated this book, I recommend it because I know I’m in the minority and everyone should decide for themselves.
