Rant is an incredibly irritating book from the first few chapters, to be honest; the oral history format makes the initial experience incredibly repetitive, as the characters always introduce themselves multiple times before giving their account. Accounts are arranged, loosely, by relation to a particular subject or incident in the story, meaning we hear about the same incident over and over and over before we finally move on, and this can be unbearable if you intend to listen to it on audio. I really like Chuck Palahniuk's writing a lot because even when I read through most of the reviews and people were saying "ohhh well this doesn't scare me and all that" ... it is really not meant to.
It could be the fact that most of the time he does the characters so well that no one actually notices what a good book this is, I mean its possible.

Wow. I'm still mulling this book over. It was totally mindblowing- either a new classic, or the worst book ever written. I'm going for classic. I'll post more on this when I have some time to digest.
