I just felt like this book was rushed -- not very well thought out? Or maybe that it was too well thought out. In any case, I found it fairly predictable and unbelievable. The character of the father is just so....unjustifiably crazy. I felt like it was missing something. I would, however, recommend it to young readers as a page-turner that would keep them reading and craving to find out what happens next.

The reader was a little annoying...
Kind of a cool concept - a Bill Gates-style Seattle billionaire creates the mother of all bunkers for his family in the case of a nuclear war. Six years into the 15 year quarantine, the 14 year old son starts to ask a few questions about their existence.
I thought the narrator was a little too cleanly flawed-then-redeemed, and I never really connected with the other characters. There were definitely times when I anticipated eurekas well before the characte ...more
