This is a wonderful historical fiction tale of the love of John of Gaunt and Katherine Swynford. You are transported to 14th century filled with political intrigue, danger and romance. It is filled with history and was very well researched.

In my opinion (with not a romantic bone in my body), this is in fact the greatest love story ever told.
The book tells the true story of John of Gaunt, son and cousin of an English King, and Katherine Swynford, an orphan commoner in the 14th century. There was no chance of the two ever being able to marry, but for 30 years, their love endured.
