Hm. Uh-huh. Well, again... that was... another book.

Hidden Bodies is the follow-up to Caroline Kepnes' novel You. We continue to follow Joe, a psychopath who only wants love. In the previous book, he incorporated himself into his intended's life by using social media. That didn't work out so well for him, and by the book's end, he'd met an alluring con artist who was off the grid unlike his previous girlfriend who could barely live without social media. We catch up with Joe in this second book

You was one of my favorite (audio)books last year, so I was super excited to read Hidden Bodies, but also slightly apprehensive whether Joe's return would live up to my expectations. I needn't have worried. Joe has mellowed a bit, in my opinion, but his lookout on the world is still as entertaining as ever. "Humans. I will never understand."
I love how his mind works (I know I shouldn't), he is a depraved serial killer after all. But he is really trying hard to fit in this time. For Love ('Love'

Five reasons to listen to Hidden Bodies

Caroline Kepnes weaves a wicked, sometimes disturbing tale around her protagonist Joe Goldberg. Joe is a sociopath who falls for the perfect girl. That is until she disappears, and Joe finds himself leaving the East Coast and traveling to Los Angeles in search of Amy. As he settles in LA, he meets characters who drive him insane. In his pursuit of Amy, he meets Love Quinn, a social media goddess who may just be his perfect match.

what a ride, I am amazed at how Caroline Kepnes made me love Joe, with all his insane evil and manipulations. I was cheering for him the entire time - I must be crazy. This one picked up after book 1, for me I enjoyed it more. I was happy to see Joe move on as I did not like Beck, and there were so many new interactions for him - he is so condescending, and that is when I found the most humor in this twisted story. Its great listening to him stereotype all the people he meets and think of who I ...more

Definitely readable, but I am left feeling like it lacked the spark that "You" had. I missed the second person narration, and Joe seemed much less creepy and selfish in this one. ...more

Caroline Kepnes has a strange ability to get into the minds of a sociopath serial killer, and make us like him. Joe graces us again with his conscience, and his ability to justify his killings is what makes him so deliciously dangerous and psychotic. The change in narration took some adjusting; there were 2-3 primary female characters in this novel making it impossible for Joe to narrate the entire novel speaking to only the character in question unlike the first novel in which Joe spoke to 'you ...more

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was an excellent second book in the series, I can't wait to see what happens next. This is a escapist read. ...more

I definitely didn't enjoy this one as much as the first one in the series, You. Truth be told, I could have done without the whole Love/Forty/Milo storyline. For me, it detracted from Joe's original intention of going to California. I would have liked to see more of Amy. Excellent narrator! He kept me listening. ...more
