Red Rising is a captivating read. Initially, it felt like it had the perfect mix of everything, but then there was a moment that left me a bit puzzled. Some elements seemed like they could've gone in a different direction, making more sense for the story's environment. However, I was invested in the narrative and never felt bored. Overall, I'd give it a solid 4

Hunger Games meets Ender's Game meets Harry Potter meets The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. I mean seriously, there's almost no original plot point in the whole thing. Still a fun read, though. ...more

Though a little heavy handed at times, I really enjoyed this book. I look forward to the rest of the trilogy.

I thought this fast-paced plot was fun, but it's a bit of a rip-off of Hunger Games... I thought the different characters were interesting, but none came off as complicated or round to me (Maybe... the precept and his son and the archgovenor's daughter...). I enjoyed this read, for sure, it just didn't rise to the level of some of the other books in this genre that I've enjoyed. I want to see what happens with this plot and where it goes.

DNF because the thought of reading 200 more pages of this shit makes me want to cry.

I almost gave up on this book after the first few chapters, but thanks to the reviews here I decided to stick with it -- and am glad I did. The main character, Darrow, struggles to destroy a system by becoming part of it, and I enjoyed watching his transformation.
