I like the idea of King Lear as told by the fool, and there were lots of interesting and funny bits, but the sex-humor gets old, and calling the French "the f•cking French" every single time gets very very very old. Also, I have to knock a star off every time an author uses homophobic humor.

It's a pity - I met the author, and he was incredibly friendly. He'd done a lot of research for Lamb regarding the political climate of the era as well as Old Testament laws in general, and he certainly did a

This wasn't my favorite Christopher Moore book. I debated about reading King Lear (or at least the Cliffs Notes) before reading Fool, but plunged ahead anyway on the recommendation of a friend. I thought it was a pretty decent listen, one of Moore’s better stories, and some of his phrases have made it into our real-life conversations. If there’s one thing you can always coun ...more

Probably my second-favorite book by Moore, following A Dirty Job . I enjoyed the creative take on the story of King Lear, and the humor that Moore injected into the story. I read somewhere that some of Pocket's humor was based on Eddie Izzard, and the narrator did a really great job with all of it. ...more
