I wanted to tell so many things to them and yet I didn't have the words.
As part of Book Riot's "Read Harder Challange" I was to a read an LGBTQ+ romance novel, after a little search I picked this book and wow it was so touching and heart warming!
It's a YA novel, about challenges, questions teenage boys have and struggles they face knowing themselves.
I could easily relate to Ari's confusion, his fight inside him, his hatred and love he had toward his parents.
Enjoyed this book a lot. ...more

I read Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe in a single day. I devoured it. I laughed out loud and cried and loved every single moment spent with Ari and Dante. I loved the details, the family dynamics and the moments of real, hard-hitting, emotional situations. I would never have picked this up if my friend, Kari, had not put it on one of her beautiful lists of books. I'm so glad I did. So glad. This is the book that every teenager needs to read - most especially those who f

Holy cow. Beautiful. Also interesting. Very much in the Chicano lit tradition (and in the queer Chicano lit tradition), which made me feel like I was back in college when I actually read a decent amount of that stuff, and it made me think of how different of a YA writer Sáenz is. I read this for a second time, actually I listened to it this time, after learning Lin-Manual Miranda read it, it was a done deal. I admit I was worried that a second reading wouldn't hold the magic that the first time did, that it wouldn't be as good as I had hyped up in head. Luckily I had no need to worry. I still love Aristotle and Dante, they were still the sweet, realistic teens that I had remembered. Their parents were the same supportive and loving people that b ...more

This book is set in my hometown, El Paso, however that is not the only reason I enjoyed it. Ari is a teenage boy who pushes many people away. His brother is in prison and his parents never talk about him. He meets Dante, a sweet kid who loves his parents. This is shocking to Ari, as he doesn’t share his feelings for others and finds it odd that a fellow teenager would so readily admit to loving his parents. The two develop a friendship and the audience follows them through that friendship throug
