I enjoyed this collection of stories a good deal, although I must say I enjoyed her novel "The Namesake" far more. Perhaps I felt more connected to the characters in the novel than in short story format. That said, I enjoyed the last story in the book, 'The Third and Final Continent' a great deal, and Lahiri's writing is so beautiful!!

[Review from 2004.] This was definitely an enjoyable read (and I'm not usually a short story person), and I was impressed by the successful execution of first-person-plural in one of them, but (and this is a terrible thing to say), I kind of don't understand why it won the Pulitzer.

A wonderful collection, though I felt as if it lost steam towards the end with a couple of the stories. But I really loved Lahiri's language and character presentation.

I didn't love this, and I'm disappointed because I did love The Namesake. Maybe I just don't like short stories.
