Sandra Dallas has written a number of books set in Colorado. This one is set in the eastern plains during World War II and is based upon the internment camp for the Japanese that was in the area. The story is told through 13 year old Rennie, and I felt she was an effective vehicle for the narrative. I especially liked Rennie's father as he reminded me of my own dad. In the interiew with Sandra Dallas at the end of the audio book, she said that she based him on her father.

I really liked this book! I enjoy this author from Colorado.
Interesting subject matter regarding the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII and the prejudice and ignorance prevalent in America at that time. A well told tale centering on one family dealing with the turbulance of those times.
