This is the first book I've read from Adrian Tchaikovsky and The Doors of Eden did not disappoint. The story developed and unfolded beautifully including the plot, characters, world-building, and the pacing.
I'll definitely read more of Tchaikovsky's work. ...more

Plough your way through the opening
Only years of boring grad school reading got me past the intro. It adds to the story but if you skip the "lectures" , I think it still hangs together. The tale has it all--action, aliens, alternative lifestyes, neurotypical and atypical, suits and thugs and a decent wrap. In the end, remember all theory is speculative. ...more

This book was very interesting and not at all what I expected. Though there was a lot of crazy sci-fi things going on and some strange creatures, it was described in a way that was easy for me to picture. I even enjoyed the interlude chapters describing the evolutions. Knocked it down a start just because it did drag at times. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. This is the first Tchaikovsky book that I have read but I will likely check out more in the future.
