Some books are remembered for their beautiful language, others for compelling characters, and some just tell a good story. This book scores on all three. I loved News of the World so of course when I heard of this book I wanted to read it. Simon the fiddler is a young man barely eking out a living by playing his fiddle in post Civil War Texas. A young Irish indentured servant catches his eye and we follow both Simon and Doris (the Irish lass) across the Texas landscape. Part historical fiction,
