Lada and her brother Radu were wrenched from their home in Wallachia and abandoned by their father. Lada is ruthless and will not bow down to any man. Radu is a wimp. They meet the Sultan's son and become great friends. Lada starts having feelings for Mahmed and so does Radu. They fight together so Mahmed can become Sultan of his empire.
