Another worthy addition to this endearing series. This volume contained what I think is some of the loveliest writing of the collection so far. I also enjoyed the different storylines, and thought that the book moved along at a somewhat faster pace than some of the previous volumes. Of course, that doesn't mean that things moved exactly quickly or that there were any major plot events this time around, but I think one has to just accept that this isn't McCall Smith's main focus. I have read all of the books in Alexander McCall Smith's Ladies' No. 1 Detective Agency series. I find them simple and sweet and I appreciate Precious Ramatswe's pure outlook on life and her ability to see the best in people. The series either hooks you or not. I have several friends that have read and enjoyed all of these, as well. I tried one of his other series (He's quite prolific), but couldn't get into it. This was a quick and fun read, but far from the best book in the series. The plot felt a bit predictable and some of the narrative repetitive from earlier books in the series. Still, I'll eagerly await the next volume, since I love the gentle wisdom and irony infused into these stories, and it's a great escape from the hectic pace of my life.
