I was honestly disappointed.

While it was nice seeing a wrap-up to the Horsemen story, the repetitiveness that started to bug me in the previous book really bugged me a crapload here. I feel like there's a formula to these books that... if I'm going to go 4 books into a series, I need to see us shake out of. And I'd like to see some growth in the relationship of the h/h, but in the book, I feel like Knox was more douchey than we've seen him previously.

It didn't help that even the erotic aspects of the story started to feel very repetitive. I'm not joking when I say that I was skimming them, by the last 3rd of this book.

I also felt like the characters made some spectacularly stupid choices, particularly given that this is not their first rodeo. Like (view spoiler) And it is AMAZING to me that the sentinels still are constantly being separated from the people they are protecting. Literally every book is a chain of them being separated in one way or another - Harper goes to the public restroom and they hang outside, or something - and then an attack happens. If I have to read one more section about a depressed sentinel who blames himself because he wasn't there when Harper or Asher were attacked, I'm going to puke. Because YES, dude, at this point it IS your fault. And it is Knox's! Given that Knox is the only one that can really fight this incorporeal, why isn't he with them when they go out in public??

I can't tell you how many times I literally said out loud, to my Kindle, "Why are they being so stupid?!"

One last point to make. Through this whole series, we've had Lucifer popping in and out. We're told that he's super powerful. We're also told that he mostly doesn't care about much, but he has 3 hardcore rules... one of which is that demons aren't allowed to harm children. In this series, we have baddies who are, in fact, harming children. I had assumed this meant that, at some point, scary Lucifer would come out to play. But no. In case you're wondering, no. He never does. What was the point of his character, and of emphasizing - because it is mentioned REPEATEDLY - that he has these rules?

I was so excited for this book to come out and it was a bit of a disappointment. Lots of redundancy in language and rehashing of plots in previous books (which I can understand but it was just too much). I was even bored by the sex because it was repetitious. I am however excited that there’s going to be more stories finally focused on other characters and I hope switching focus for the author will make the next book more enjoyable.

Loved it!!!!

The last Horseman continues to make attempts to get to Asher, Harper & even Knox. Lots of interaction with friends and family, and lots of cuteness with baby Asher.

And on to the secondary characters :)

This series has been one of my top favorites, I even liked that the main characters have 4 books as it never lost any of the intensity, the heat, the romance between Knox and Harper.

However this book did not hit that spot as I was expecting. I still enjoyed this book and the series will remain my favorite
