I visited the new home of the library of my childhood with my mother, and this book was in the new books section. She checked it out for me and I read it in a day. It's a light read about the love of reading and books, and how that love connects a person to those around them. That description sounds schmaltzy but I needed something uplifting and this book did the trick. Also it is set on a cold weather island, so we were pretty much made for each other, this book and me.

Wonderful, charming story about people who live books and how books have affected their lives. The characters felt real to me and easy to relate, the book references are very very nice, and even though the plot itself is a bit too dramatic and fairy tale-ish, I still feel it is heartwarming. Ohhh and the setting of an independent bookstore in an island off massachusets- charming!

This is a story about a guy who owns a book store and doesn't like to be around other people much. Someone leaves him a baby in the store and his heart starts to soften. A good book to listen to as it isn't as long as some audio books.

I think my biggest issue with the book, and why I can't give it 4 stars, was that the characters lacked not depth but development. We simply did not know enough about them. I wanted to feel more, hear more about their day-to-day. (Note: I typically read 400+ page books that are largely character driven, so ...more

Cozy, feel good read
This book was a solid, feel good read. I was struggling after reading a few heavy books, and heard good things about this, so I picked it up. While some of the things were improbable, I liked the pace, setting and characters. If you are looking for a book that is warm and kind, then this may be for you.
