This was headed to be a five star read for me. I liked the slow way the various mysteries unfolded - what happened to make Eric lose his mind, what the Wasp Favtory was, why Frank killed three people, what’s in the study... It was particularly fascinating to read an account by a very logical crazy person who contrasts himself with a disordered crazy person.

I'm not really sure what to make of this book. I felt a sicky sort feeling reading it and I almost dreaded picking it up. Despite this, I guess I've given it three stars because it is well written (as well as being incredibly disturbing) and the twist at the end does make this book something else. I wouldn't recommend this book for the faint hearted and although I have no desire to read it again, I am glad I've read it. ...more

I'm kind of torn on this book. I suppose 2.5 stars would be sufficient. The first half of the book kept my interest. I was curious about all of Frank's killings. However, the animal killing (dogs and sheep) was a bit too much for me to handle. The ending wasn't too much of a surprise, but it just kind of ended. Frank's character was annoying, and the little communication between him and Eric that was in the book was ridiculous. ...more
