I'm of two minds about this book--on one level I felt like it had the subtlety of an earthquake, knocking the point of the book: "everyday people can be as heroic as those in books when the circumstances call for it," but on the other hand it was still a quick and interesting read. It has science, history, adventure, and is short enough to appeal to those kids who do not like to read at all and need to read some historical fiction.
