My major criticism is the scenarios produced are perhaps too idealistic, and do not adequately confront common criticisms like capital flight, particularly in a global economy. Further, it does not effectively push the links between capitalism and the exploitation of minorities, women, and ultimately the rest of the working class.

Whilst it doesn't quite live up to its title and it's more a history of Socialism, the good and the bad, if you combine reading it and "Why You Should Be a Socialist" by Nathan J. Robinson and "Democracy at Work: A Cure for Capitalism" by Richard D. Wolff it's a very helpful addition to knowledge on new ways of governing through socialism.

Part I is a history of socialism and took some work to get through. There are a lot of factions that are all interrelated, which makes it somewhat complicated and difficult to follow.
Part II is about what has happened since 2000 and the possibilities for the future. A much easier read and very hopeful.
