I was thrilled to read this sequel to the original revenge novel, which inspired the iconic movie, "The Devil Wears Prada." When the original novel came out, it was so unique, a whole new genre based on the real life experience of the author who worked as a slave, more or less, to a real life figure! So much fun to read about! Weisberger followed up that now legendary novel with several strong, similar novels, giving us a peek inside the high flying New York fashion and PR world. Now, one can ba I was thrilled to read this sequel to the original revenge novel, which inspired the iconic movie, "The Devil Wears Prada." So much fun to read about! Weisberger followed up that now legendary novel with several strong, similar novels, giving us a peek inside the high flying New York fashion and PR world. Now, one can barely turn on one's TV or walk down a bookstore aisle without seeing many, perhaps flattering, rip-offs of the same genre that I feel Weisberger invented. So I was thrilled to return the world that started it all. Was I disappointed? Well, maybe a little bit. I think Weisberger is a victim of her own success. Others have upped the ante in this genre, and the original author stays true to the original vision, which may seem somewhat dated and somewhat less fun in our Kardashian-ized world. I still enjoyed it though, while others may criticize it as old-fashioned. I still found myself turning the pages rapidly, dying to know what happens next. I think Weisberger is good at constructing a story with characters one cares about. Some of the side characters have the usual, somewhat cliche, stories (running off to Colorado (where I live actually!) to become a yoga hippie), but I can forgive that somewhat. I was saddened by the plot twist and how Andy's world as she knows it turns upside down. I was a bit shocked at how central Emily becomes in Andy's life, although the story of how it happened is well done. Emily is her natural, difficult, mean self. The book opens with a lot of nasty Emily comments, and that was a bit unwelcome. I almost gave up because I was sick of Emily's 'tude. It was funny in the first book, grating in the second. Overall, a lot of kudos to Weisberger for going back to the world she created and for letting Andy, the central character of her universe, grow into something that we all can identify with a bit and certainly enjoy reading about. ...more

I loved The Devil Wears Prada when I read it in 2003. I had recently left a job because of a really bad boss (though not as bad as Miranda Priestly), and I still believed I could one day make a living as a writer (though not for glossy national magazines), so I could relate to Andrea Sachs.

However, now that Andy has aged 10-12 years and I've aged 19 years, we are very different people. I didn't like her much in Revenge Wears Prada, and I didn't like the book much, either. I may read When Life Gi ...more

so i'll admit, i never actually READ the Devil Wears Prada, although I loved the movie...so I didn't seem to have a lot of bias going in as to events in the previous book - so I really enjoyed it...glad to see Andi grew a back-bone, like she had at the end of the movie, pissed that Emily was still the same and yeah for the HFN (kinda-sorta) ...more

Pretty sad and disappointed with this sequel. It was unimaginative, unbelievable and felt thrown together. I found Andy to be one of the most unlikeable, whiny characters that I have ever read...the only parts I enjoyed reading about were the scenes that described Emily's outfits. I also expected more Miranda (thanks to the title) but that didn't happen. Overall, don't waste your time. I only finished it because I was hoping to find some redeeming qualities...I didn't. ...more

I wasn't a huge fan of the ending of the first book. This one I had to return before I could finish the first round but I'm glad I got back to it. I would suggest reading the two books back to back. This one definitely has a better ending for me. ...more
