This was my all-time favorite book as a teenager for many years. It is such a comfort read for me still, and I listened to it at night as I settled in to sleep. It is sometimes slow, a distant POV, and it doesn’t have as much romance as I remember. But not every book has to be in the same style, and I think it does what it does well. It keeps that fairytale feel with the more distant POV and lyrical writing. It stays very close to the original fairytale but fills in the logic gaps. It’s a sweet, ...more

I absolutely loved this book. I picked it up a week or so back and only read a few pages here and there. When I really got into the book, I didn't want to put it down. It's a great fairy tale about a Crown Princess who is strange and is sent away from her to-be throne to marry a prince in a country three months journey away in order to keep peace. Goose Girl is lovely. I’m unfamiliar with the original Brother’s Grimm fairy tale from what Wikipedia has told me I think Shannon Hale’s version is accurate with very few liberties taken in the plot.

Hale created lovely characters and situations. I felt for Ani, Enna, Geric, Talone, and especially Conrad. I was so pleased to see him drag Selia out by her hair. I think I cheered in my chair. Selia and Ungolad were terrifying and well written.

However, I’m neurotic for wrap ups and Goose Girl let a

Really liked the way that the author created this story of the Princess. It was very magical and creative. This book was all about the Princess finding out who she is and what she wants to stand for in her Kingdom. I fell in love with this book. It is one that I want to read over and over again. I really felt like Shanon Hale did a very good job with this fairy tale.

First of all, I love anything from Shannon Hale. With that said this is another wonderful book of a girl who does not think much of herself but through terrible trials, she realizes that she is much stronger and capable then she ever imagianed. Book one of threee.
