All About Animals discussion

When you get some type of animal whether it's a dog or horse or other...do you take a training class or hire a trainer? Do you train them yourself? (Sorry, this might not apply to cat lovers, but it could.)

My first dog, Cejaye took puppy classes at Petsmart. Taco, as far as I know, never took classes or had a trainer at any time during his life. For training him I used both Victoria Stillwells TV show: It's Me or the Dog and her dog training book. Both dog's did well with their training methods. For my next dog, I would like to do the training myself but it will depend on the dog's personality. If I need to use a trainer I will take my next one to puppy classes as Cejaye had.
