Firstly, the hugest thank you and congratulations ever possible, to you guys! It's been nearly two and a half years since I created NBTR and little did I imagine it would exist for so long! Not just exist, but grow into this amazing thing :) A sincere thanks to everyone who joined and made this group into what it is.

We've grown not just in numbers, but also in terms of quality of discussion. From discussions to activites to buddy reads to challenges, we've done it all and enjoyed every bit of it, and for this I have no one to thank but you guys :) So, thank you and congratulations to you guys too!

A few members requested for this to be put up, so I thought I'd do a brief write-up on how to make a successful GoodReads group. I'm no proffessional, but these few tips will definitely make your experience as a 'mod' better and easier.

1. Orgainze. Create. Then Invite. When invited to join a new group, members are much less likely to join a group which only has one or two discussions (and one of them most definitely being 'introduce yourself') than they are if the group is partly already formed and ready. Spend a week creating exactly what you want from your group, and then invite people to join.

2. Plan. Schedule. Follow. It's better to plan things ahead, to know exactly what you're thinking this group to be. Plan ahead, maybe jot down points somehwere and execute them. Schedule your regular activites, and non-regular ones too. It's much easier for both mods and members to work according to a schedule. For eg, most regular members in our group are well aware of the dates when the BOTM and/or Buddy Read sign-ups and polls and pairings are announced. Follow those plans and schedules.

3. Don't neglect. Regardless of everything, we have a life outside of GoodReads and sometimes it's difficult to give enough time to groups. In such cases, it's perfectly fine to miss out on something once in a while. It's nothing punishable and it's okay. But do not make this a habit. Don't miss out on something twice in a row. That shows neglect and irresponsibility.

4. Don't clutter. Don't try to bring in everything under the sun in your group. Try to be specific, organized, neat and clear in what you do. Even if you do include a lot of things, make sure it's (sorry for repeating this too many times) organized. I can't stress enough on organization and how important it is.

5. Quality more important than quantity. There are loads of groups out there with thousands of members but no life. On the other hand, various other groups which are seemingly small but rich in the quality of their discussion. Now, you decide what you want your group to be:)

SO, for the most part, be regular, specific, neat, and organized, and you'll see your group growing:)
