Team Reading Roamers

When you have a team name, just let me know and I'll update this thread name :)
First stop - Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea

Your first stop is Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea
You can choose as a team to:
TASK
- Read books set in Papua New Guinea, or by Papua New Guinean authors or
- Do a spell-it-out of Port Moresby or Papua New Guinea
OR
You can elect to do the detour, which for this stop, means that four of you need to "Read a book with a purple cover"

I have purple cover books (for the detour) if tou guys want to do that, or I can help with the task...to spell out either set

This are detours we have
- Read a book with a purple cover
- Read a book where the edition you are reading was published on the 12th of a month
- Read a book where the hardcover version is 500 or more pages
- Read a book where the title is written in different colors on the cover
- Read a book where the author's first name is one of the top 100 female names in Spain according to nameberry (http://nameberry.com/popular_names/Spain)
- Read a book where the page numbers add to 11 (i.e. 345 pages = 3+4+5 = 12)
- Read a book with the name of the tarot card "The Lovers" in the text or title
- Read a book that is in the "Best Ever Contemporary Romance Books" Listopia List (https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/5...)

Also Port Moresby has fewer letters so we could do that one. :)
In this stop I'm fine with everything, but setting/author from PNG. Actually I think I'm not going to be for those in most of the stops.

Or spell it out. Can we use picture books for that, right? :D
I don't think I have any purple books at home at the moment, except for a cookbook :(

Every book started after team is made can count. And since there are no page rules, if you want to use picture books you can.
All we need is to decide what will we be doing.
And we need a name. So far only Jim came up with Reading Roamers. It sounds good to me :)

When we do a detour, should we read the same "purple cover" for everyone on the team or not?

No, we don't. As long as it fits the task, we can read whatever we want.
I think we have 4 purple covers for sure. I'm not sure about you and Jim. Not to mention missing members :)
For now we have minimum to pass the task with detour. But we'd get more points if we go with spelling. We need 3 more purples to get bonus.

or 25 points for a detour with 4-6 members.

1. Go to the library, which I can do only on Saturday.
2. Read

3.

Opinions?

We can still go with spelling :)
I would say that you should read what you want to read. We are not in a hurry and we need to be at each stop for a week at least.
To be honest do my reading by challenges. Usually I go with what I'm in the mood for and then try to fit them into my current challenges. :)
Sorry for the late entry (just saw this now) but my name is Clarissa.
And I don't think I can participate in the PNG setting/author. I'm quickly finishing up my book because I need to start another one for my book report (it's over 300 pages with tiny writing). I don't know if
counts as a purple book-has a little purple somewhere in there. :)

Anna..I think both these work for spell it out for Port Moresby too...So you could still read either or both :)

This would work for the spell it out, though.... :)

Purple or spell it out would be best I think... have we come to a consensus?

Port Moresby - 11 letters,
Papua New Guinea - 14,
both not really dividable by 8, but I can take two. I have plans for P, for example, if no one objects.

I'm about to read The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson
So I could do M if we do Port Moresby. Or maybe it'd work for another letter? What exactly are the rules for spell-it-out?

1) book's title ('a', 'an', and 'the' at the beginning can be skipped)
2) author's first or last name
3) character's first, last or nickname
4) translator's first or last name
5) narrator's first or last name
I think I remembered everything
