I read this as my book that I meant to read last year but didn't. It actually wasn't my first choice. I'd wanted to read Before the Storm by Diane Chamberlain, but my library said it was out of print. I picked this book because I'd been intrigued by the plot when I read it last year. It is about a mother and daughter who accidentally hit a pedestrian while driving home on a rainy night. The daughter is driving (not a spoiler, it says so in the synopsis and back cover), but her mother sends her home and takes the blame herself.
While I liked the book, it didn't quite live up to my expectations. The plot sounded so interesting, but the writing style wasn't the best. It was repetitive at times, and I didn't think the characters or the plot were fleshed out quite enough to make it have a real impact. I still enjoyed the book, but I was a little disappointed.
