Crazy Rich Asians (Crazy Rich Asians #1) by Kevin Kwan Crazy Rich Asians (Crazy Rich Asians #1) by Kevin Kwan
When Rachel Chu agrees to spend the summer in Singapore with her boyfriend, Nicholas Young, she envisions a humble family home, long drives to explore the island, and quality time with the man she might one day marry. What she doesn't know is that Nick's family home happens to look like a palace, that she'll ride in more private planes than cars, and that with one of Asia's most eligible bachelors on her arm, Rachel might as well have a target on her back. Initiated into a world of dynastic splendor beyond imagination, Rachel meets Astrid, the It Girl of Singapore society; Eddie, whose family practically lives in the pages of the Hong Kong socialite magazines; and Eleanor, Nick's formidable mother, a woman who has very strong feelings about who her son should--and should not--marry. Uproarious, addictive, and filled with jaw-dropping opulence, Crazy Rich Asians is an insider's look at the Asian JetSet; a perfect depiction of the clash between old money and new money; between Overseas Chinese and Mainland Chinese; and a fabulous novel about what it means to be young, in love, and gloriously, crazily rich.

Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
In Memoirs of a Geisha, we enter a world where appearances are paramount; where a girl's virginity is auctioned to the highest bidder; where women are trained to beguile the most powerful men; and where love is scorned as illusion. It is a unique and triumphant work of fiction - at once romantic, erotic, suspenseful - and completely unforgettable.

Three Best Friends talks about "Ableism" in building playgrounds that are not accessible for children and parents with mobility impairments. Based loosely on a true story in my town, a Parent Group knowingly builds a playground with wood chip flooring to save money and exclude children with mobility impairments from playing with their friends.

Antonio Gallo (galloway) | 6 comments Bold, wide-ranging and provocative, God challenges everything we thought we knew about the origins of religious belief, and with it our relationship with life and death, with the natural and spiritual worlds, and our understanding of the very essence of human existence.

What aspect of this book is about classism? Is there a clash of statistics between who believes what?

Shomeret | 26 comments Suffragette Autumn Women's Spring is historical fiction by Ian Porter. It deals with class discrimination related to the Titanic disaster, and then it deals with the class aspect of the British women's suffrage movement.
