I bought Spinning Silver so should jump in. I finished the other one a while ago and it's a great read

I'm number four on my library waitlist for Spinning Silver, so I may not get to it for a while. I ordered Retribution Falls, as I haven't read that one yet.

Both look excellent, it's just a matter of getting them for November. D:

Does anyone know if you need to have read Uprooted before starting Spinning Silver?

AFAIK, you don't have to. The stories aren't connected, they just both happen to be fairytale retellings.

I’m pretty sure Spinning Silver and Uprooted are both stand-alones.

I think I need a refresher on what happens in Retribution Falls.

Good to know. I might just have to pick up a copy of Spinning Silver then.

Looking forward to reading Spinning Silver. I'd actually earmarked Uprooted as my next book to read anyway but if they're both stand alones I'll read the 2nd one first instead.

Spinning silver and Uprooted are both the same concept. She's retelling fairy tales from her childhood.

Now that I've moved (and am internetless apart from when I'm at work, for god knows how long), I'm going to start making use of the library again. Hoping to pop along this weekend and grab a stack of books, including at least one of these :D

It is also botm in another group (non GR) so I will have more time to read other books and maybe tick of some more goals for this year.

I opted for the audio book of Spinning Silver. Two chapters in and I like the narrator so far.

I will come back to this one. I'm going to try to squeeze the first one in. They have both available at the library. I'm reading too many books at one time!! I wanted to read some other books with you guys too but you already read them. Plus, I was in cancer treatment during the summer and will be going for checkups every three months. Next one is the end of the month so my stress level is high.

I can't find the other threads for November either. What am I doing wrong?

I'm going to start reading more books with my groups. Sticking my toe in slowly. Today has been a bad day so I will get through it and hopefully continue on. Fighting a sudden reading slump 😫

Thinking of you my friend - it must be hard to focus with all of that going on, but I hope you can enjoy some good reading distractions. My heart goes out to you Mel, and I wish you fast healing! I didn't know about what happened with you as I'd been inactive on Goodreads for a while.

I had a health scare too, though in my case I was lucky, but in the meantime of finding that out, I certainly felt constant fear as you say waiting for tests.

On a logical level, life is always uncertain, and it's best to focus day by day on all the joy that can be gotten. But on a human level, that is so hard to do. Don't be hard on yourself in any case, and please know that many are rooting for you!

Thank you so much for the kind words, Greg. I cried a little, but it's okay. I'm going to be scared every 3 months for the next 2 years at the check ups and every day as Salk of the wonderful cancer patients are. I met some of the most wonderful people in my life through cancer treatment and I pray for all of them.

I'm sorry you had a medical scare as well. It seems like there are so many medical issues with people these days. At least a lot more than I ever remember throughout life.

Let's all just TRY to keep on keeping on. It's not easy for me to say since I deal with mental illness as well. The depression set in hard today but I'm hoping for s better say tomorrow. A day full of reading and making gifts for the cancer patients.

Thank you for being my friend and not being one of those that dropped me because I wasn't here to like their reviews. People aren't always the greatest, but the ones that are, they are gems 💎

Greg, Glad your scare was not as bad as it could have been.

When things aren't going right for me I escape into a book and the friends I have here. The good hearted humor and discussions are always something to look forward to.

Greg, I am so sorry to hear that you had a health scare, and I am so glad to hear that you were lucky. That feeling of not knowing, and waiting for the test results is so terrifying...been there, and in my case I got lucky that my results came back benign, but every year that I have to go in for a re-check (it's coming up again, ugh) it's always nerve-wracking.
I guess it's always something...

I have been wanting to read Black Lung Captain for ages and now the group is reading it.
And I can't find my copy!!!!
This is soooo frustrating.
