Kadijah Michelle (kadmich) | 2176 comments What to Expect in 2019

It's that time--we are going to start preparing for 2019.

To answer some questions:
- Yes, the group will continue into 2019!
- Yes, we will archive all of your 2018 challenges and corners so you don't lose your info!
- Yes, we will have a bunch of new yearly challenges for you!

- New for 2019! Monthly and quarterly challenges will be posted one month earlier to assist you with planning for the challenges. They will be locked for comments until approximately a week prior to the month.

We are excited and hope you are too. You'll notice that the group name just changed to reflect that it'll continue on next year. Please post any questions you may have about the transition here.

Here's the schedule the Mods have put together so far:

Mid November/Early December:

- The Yearly Theme and Monthly Themes will be announced!
- Start posting yearly challenges (these will be posted over the course of several days to give you the opportunity to read through them)
- Post January and Quarter 1 challenges. They will be available for viewing but locked for comments.
- Create the new folders for personal challenges and member corners

Last Week in December:
- Unlock January and Quarter 1 challenges

First week in January:
- Change group name

What a great idea to post the quarterly and monthly challenges early! That will be such a tremendous help for planning what to read throughout the year!
Yayyyy!!!

oshizu | 5762 comments I have promised myself NOT to start a spreadsheet for tracking my 2019 reading challenges until the end of this month!
LOL

Typing new stuff into my 2018 spreadsheet doesn't count! *coughs

It absolutely doesn't count, especially if you're just editing your full 2018 list with 2019 at the bottom, as I am doing. ;)

Hahahaha! I also needed to organize two series of books, one which I'm reading out of publication order and Stephen King's The Dark Tower, for which aficionados suggest an extended reading list.
I had to start a new sheet, but it's still the same spreadsheet.

May I ask what you've been doing at the bottom of your 2018 list?

Planned out my Popsugar and ATY books (both novels and graphic novels). About to add the TBR Jar challenge just because it would help to know what specific books I'll be reading for that and where they fit into the other challenges.

And then I'm going to make another sheet with all the books I can use for multiple challenges to see how much I should expect of myself next year challenge-wise.

But it's all the same document. haha

Can't wait until the Member Corners comes up. I think I'll organize mine a bit differently than I did this year.

I've copied--um, emulated, our mod Kristin and already typed up my 2019 PopSugar, Serial Reader, and one other challenge at the bottom of my 2018 Member's Corner. Hehehe

I feel like I'm still okay though. Once I start a "real" spreadsheet, I'll feel compelled to type in all the books' page lengths. I like to alternate between long and short books to promote a sense of progress. ;-)
Absolutely must stop now, though. lol

It is, thanks! I've started a spreadsheet for that one already, and one for "Around the Year in 52 books". I just feel that I can't properly plan without my "2019 Reading Challenge" thread in this group 8'D

Oh, you've started your spreadsheet already! *resists the temptation
Haha, I've downloaded one but am waiting to "actually" start it.

oshizu | 5762 comments Dear mods,

If the threads for next year's various challenges will start being unrolled from mid-November, will news of this year's December challenges be announced around the same time?
Just wondering. : )

Thank you! Still two more weeks left in November, but the year has been flying by!

RJ - Slayer of Trolls (hawk5391yahoocom) The topic of "What to Expect in 2019" got me all excited! Although I have to admit I was hoping for lottery numbers or stock market picks or sports winners...

I'm laughing to myself as I read this, because I am currently working on my 2019 spreadsheet.... setting it up... working on listing the books I want to be sure to read.. a little more specific than my "To Read" list here on Goodreads.

Planning is so much fun. After the initial, giddy rush of adding all the books I want to read, I am now taking a more sober look at my choices, pruning some that won't work for multiple challenges, and so forth. And I might even have started a list for next year with my 2019 rejects... *whistles innocently

message 33: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (spookiieej) | 422 comments I joined just yesterday and I am really excited. I really want to read more in 2019; I used to read a lot when I was younger, but the amount of books read declined during the last years. I would like to read more again though, so I'll try to set a yearly go and participate in some challenges :D

I'm sorry Kylie, but that won't be an official challenge for 2019, but if you would like, you are welcome to see if anyone would like to join you in an "unofficial Every Year Challenge" in our new Blogs/Vlogs, Events and Challenges Folder

Blagica | 12942 comments You won't be able to set your goal for 2019 until at least the first of the year Judith. However you can do your Members corner and challenge corner whenever you are ready. Hope this helps

That is because we are running 2018 and 2019 right now. Our group is a bit crowded, but come January 1, things will start to get more organized.
