Michelle Deerwester-Dalrymple My 17 year old daughter used to be a great reader, but as she got older and spent more time on her phone, she stopped. We went through a lot several years ago, and I stopped reading too (and I'm an English Professor!!!!), so we are trying to get her back into reading.
She says it's hard for her to focus, so I need recommendations on how to help her focus and then some book recommendations that will capture her attention.
Her interests - superheroes and fantasy, thrillers, Disney, cats and dogs. She is also into cutesy, collectible things.

Please send me any and all recommendations!! Thank you in advance!

In regards to focusing, the clue is to find a book YOU CANNOT PUT DOWN, if you do that your goal is achived.
Superhero recs: Not Your Sidekick (Sidekick Squad, #1) by C.B. Lee , Being Jamie Baker (Jamie Baker, #1) by Kelly Oram , Dreadnought (Nemesis, #1) by April Daniels , Wonder Woman Warbringer (DC Icons, #1) by Leigh Bardugo
Disney ish recs: My Unfair Godmother (My Fair Godmother, #2) by Janette Rallison , The Beast Within A Tale of Beauty's Prince by Serena Valentino , Reflection (Twisted Tales, #4) by Elizabeth Lim , The Stepsister Scheme (Princess, #1) by Jim C. Hines , Beauty A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast by Robin McKinley

Also you could try to get her to do buddy reads, have her look up titles on booktube seeing others being passionate about books might ignite her passion again.

Hi! I'm a high school senior, so I can understand how your daughter might be feeling. The straightforward solution to this is to make her interested in poetry. BECAUSE often reading along texts can be boring. I get that. Whereas poems can convey the message in just a few verses.

So, this might seem a bit of shameless promotion here, but I got published as the author of an anthology of poems last summer. My book recently reached #1 bestselling spot in Asian Poetry in the US, UK, and Canada. It is also #3 in the Young Adult category in India and a few other countries like Mexico.

If you want, you can get the ebook version from Amazon for $0.00. I have kept if free of cost because I don't want someone to spend money to appreciate poetry. My poems often resonate with the lives of the people, because there is a unique pattern being followed in my book, initiating from BIRTH till DEATH. The flow is amazing and smoothly transitioned. It is appropriate for every age, especially teenagers and elders. For instance, this is an excerpt from one of the most well-appreciated poems form my book -

"Something that I don't show,
something others don't know,
Things I keep to myself,
Only the pillow knows." - Only Pillow Knows, White Words (2018)

Hope she likes my book!
