Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I'm tired of the same old 'well done' and 'good work'

Occasionally, I'll throw in the odd 'brilliant!' Managed a 'nifty' once last week.

You lot got any others?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments How about going old school with Spiffing and Top-hole.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments After reading The Scarlet Pimpernel at quite a young age I annoyed family (and others, no doubt) by using "Sink me!" to express surprise for a surprisingly long period thereafter.

I really was a precocious twit :D

B J Burton (bjburton) | 2680 comments Kath wrote: "See - I told you the kids all... Oh, morning BJ! ;)"

Afternoon, Kath. I've never perceived any advantage in growing up - and it's too late to start now!

David Manuel | 1112 comments More from the space age:

ballistic!
hypersonic!
orbital!

subtler:

quite better than adequate!
exceeding competence!

over-the-top:

perfection!
heavenly!

what-the-teacher-always-said-to-me:

seriously?

message 37: by Katy (new)

Katy | 2662 comments What about the simple 'lovely job' or 'lovely work'?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Lovely jubbly.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Katy wrote: "What about the simple 'lovely job' or 'lovely work'?"

They heard those all the time, Katy. Nice to mix things up, sometimes. :)

message 40: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments The head I worked for until I retired used to say, 'stunning!' to the children. They loved that. Maybe it was the idea of being able to stun the headteacher but I doubt many of them (primary age) worked out the root of the word.

A lot of the card making blogs that I look at are full of comments saying that this card or another is "stunning" It seems to me to be overworked at the moment and I find myself wishing that just one person would find a different word to use.

message 42: by Katy (new)

Katy | 2662 comments 'tidy'? Though that could confuse them

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Fan Dabi Dozi *hangs head in shame*

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments The five year olds are doing an assembly on Friday and I was trying to help a few of them learn their lines. Poor sweetie pies. Some of the words they were expected to say! I had to make some changes, but they were doing not too bad by the end of the day.

I'm sure the assembly will be adorable.
