Loving so much on your list, Sharon! Here’s hoping you like The Night Swim. My face to face book club read and discussed it last month. Lots to consider.

Enjoy what you end up reading!

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 2091 comments I finished two books that are not on my list.

The Duke and I The Duke and I (Bridgertons, #1) by Julia Quinn
I started this after watching the first season of the Netflix show.

The Viscount Who Loved Me The Viscount Who Loved Me (Bridgertons, #2) by Julia Quinn To join Michelle and Laura in their read.

I liked both books. I switched back and forth between the audio and the books. The narrator, Rosalyn Landor, got on my nerves with her male voice. It was worse in The Viscount Who Loved Me. I ended up increasing the speed to get through it quicker.

I listened to Mr. Churchill's Secretary Mr. Churchill's Secretary (Maggie Hope Mystery, #1) by Susan Elia MacNeal Book 1 in the Maggie Hope Mystery series.

I'm adding book 2 to my list. I like the two books I've read so far. It is a WWII series with a lot of espionage (good for my challenges) and nervy females who get into a man's game.

I'm jumping into the next Kim Stone book. Fatal Promise (D.I. Kim Stone, #9) by Angela Marsons I love this series.

City of Schemes (A Counterfeit Lady #4) by Victoria Thompson I like this series. I'm current with the series. I haven't found a date for another book. The last time I contacted Victoria Thompson she said she was going to write another book in the series, but she doesn't have an anticipated date yet.

πŸ“– Ali Cross
🎧 Ali Cross: Like Father, Like Son NetGalley Audio

These are two books for middle school kids. They are a spin-off of the Alex Cross series by James Patterson. The stories are pretty good. Reading / listening to them with my 9th grade granddaughter makes it an even better experience.

They remind me of the Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew mysteries that I devoured at her age. The mysteries are solved by a group of middle school friends with Ali in the lead. There is a lot of one-sided political messages that I don't care for in my books, but they didn't bother me.

I rated each book as 3.5 stars, but my granddaughter rated them both 5 stars. Since they are written for her age group, I figure she wins the rating.

We requested a couple more audiobooks from Netgalley that she is interested in. If approved, there will be more summer teen reading for me.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 2091 comments I finished two 5 β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜… books :

An Offer From a Gentleman (Bridgertons, #3) by Julia Quinn An Offer From a Gentleman I really like this story. This is the best of the first three in this series.

Make Them Pay (Lucy Kincaid #12) by Allison Brennan Make Them Pay We are back to the Lucy Kincaid series that I love. Great suspense, interesting backstory that I didn't expect, and more.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 2091 comments Finally finished
The Night Before (Savannah, #1) by Lisa Jackson The Night Before

I finished listening 🎧
The Abduction of Pretty Penny (Daughter of Sherlock Holmes Mystery #5) by Leonard Goldberg The Abduction of Pretty Penny This series started out a little slow when I started it a few years ago, but it has improved with the last two books, even though the middle still drags. At this point I will continue, especially now that Netgalley shares the audio.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 2091 comments I finished a book not on my list
Princess Elizabeth's Spy (Maggie Hope Mystery, #2) by Susan Elia MacNeal Princess Elizabeth's Spy

This is the second book in the Maggie Hope series. I came to the series, with the last book. Luckily the setting and many players changed with the Hollywood Spy making it feel like a standalone.
I am enjoying going back to the beginning and finding out how Maggie got into this business, from Boston, to Britain and back again.

I need to do some research. I don't remember these event with Princess Elizabeth in The Crown.

I will continue the series.

Desperate Girls (Wolfe Security, #1) by Laura Griffin Desperate Girls

My first completed reading wheel this year.

I picked this because it was in my audible library for a little over a year. When I started listening, it sounded familiar. As the story went on, I remembered enough that I looked it up. I read the arc several years ago. I'm not sure when I bought the audio. It must have been a two for one or some big sale. I liked the audio better than the book. Yeah for the Columbo challenge.

The Cutting Edge (Lincoln Rhyme, #14) by Jeffery Deaver The Cutting Edge

I haven't read this series in a few years. I had to watch the movie to refresh my memory on some of the main players.

message 19: by Robin (new)

Robin (robinmy) | 3478 comments The Lincoln Rhyme series is on my list to read (some day). I did read the first book a couple of years ago and thought it was great. How do you like the series overall?

message 20: by Sharon (last edited Jun 26, 2021 01:39PM) (new)

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 2091 comments Robin I love this series. I found it after the movie (I'm a Denzel Washington fan) then my husband and I started reading the series. It is a great study of a man who was ready to end his life, then found, even as a paraplegic, that he had something to offer.

Like any series there are a few books that aren't as good as the others, but overall it is a great series. The mysteries are complex, and the characters are very interesting.

The Blackhouse (Lewis Trilogy, #1) by Peter May The Blackhouse

I found this book to complete the Nordic (Scandi) Noir. Honestly, I didn't have a clue what to expect from this genre. The Blackhouse is an interesting story an unexpected with twist at the end. The rural Scottish setting (Isle of Lewis) descriptions gives a tremendous sense of place. Loved it.

Thanks, Sharon. I’ve added some in this genre to my shelf because I’ve enjoyed a few of the Netflix series. I’ve got this book series but haven’t started.

Thanks Sharon. I'm going to have to pull out the second book to read soon. It fits a couple of challenges that I'm working on.
