I had the opportunity to answer a question about how one uses the Good reads star rating system. It got me to thinking a little bit more about it, and I had a couple more thoughts on it, and I wondered if anyone else a viewpoint on the topic. Do you rate and review books on Goodreads a certain way because you have family and friends (and possibly the author) reading your reviews? Would you rate books differently if it wasn't on a public forum?
For me, the answer is yes, I am fully aware that others are reading my reviews. What I do find myself doing now, after 13 years on Goodreads, I may not rate a book at all, if it isn't a clear rating. This happens if a book happens to be more a 2 than a 3.

While I know others may read my reviews, that doesn't change my rating. The only time I don't rate a book is when it is a DNF. Then I only mark it at all so I know I tried it and it wasn't for me. It makes sure I don't pick it up again.

Hi everyone,I was wondering if any of you are participating in some of the booktube read-a-thons, for example, Victober, and lots of others.
I don't exactly participate in the booktube read-a-thons, because I don't post anything, but I will try to read a Victorian novel or short story in October. I've also been enjoying the Theme Wars here in this group.
I'm participating in Victober, though I finished both books I wanted to read for it now.I'll be reading Boneshaker for the Theme Wars next week.
I'm also participating in the Latin-x-athon and I'll be participating in Novella November.
