It’s been an age since I read this book and I badly needed something very light this weekend. So it came off the shelf.
Bella Swan, smart clumsy misfit, moves to the wettest town in the Northern Hemisphere to live with her police chief dad for her last two years of school. Enter the mysterious and gorgeous Edward Cullen along with the rest of his unusual family. School politics, forbidden love, sparkly vampires. It’s all complete fluff. But I still read it.
To be fair the book actually starts out pretty strong and is reasonably well written. That goes out the window from about the middle of the book - too many lingering looks, knowing smirks and expressions of teen angst. I’d forgotten the only genuinely dramatic bit came so late in the book - on a reread, it all feels really rushed. Ah well. It was still a great choice for where I was at this weekend and I enjoyed myself.
