Jonathan (jonathan_maberry) | 69 comments There's a NEW and FREE Joe Ledger short story available for download. Here's a link: http://jonathanmaberry.com/download-t...

"DEEP, DARK" takes place after PATIENT ZERO and shortly before THE DRAGON FACTORY (which will be released in March 2010).

It's my holiay gift to the many friends of Joe Ledger, Echo Team and the Department of Military Sciences.

I look forward to reading this because 'Patient Zero' is my favorite zombie book and I love Joe Ledger. He kicks ass!

Steve Chaput (stevec50) | 139 comments Thanks, Jonathan! Really enjoyed PATIENT ZERO (not just your run of the mill zombie book) and look forward to more of Joe and his team. Good character with a lot of potential.

I'm going to have to read the new story over the weekend.

Jonathan (jonathan_maberry) | 69 comments PATIENT ZERO is now in development for TV. Details will be released in early 2010.

Steve Chaput (stevec50) | 139 comments Can't wait to find out if this is a 'stand alone' film or mini-series. My guess is the later, since there is a lot going on in the book. Good luck!

Cj | 38 comments SYFY? Warehouse13 did nicely in the Fringe tue slot. Which irks me they moved Fringe up agaisnt the biggest boys and cry it is only 2nd? Oh well suits will never get it, like when the dumped Firefly waaaay to soon. Friday night 9pm and its target group was 20-45... Hmmm wouldnt that be the group most likely out at dinner or a bar? I dont know, I'm just a simpleton.

Good Luck Jonathan. Really looking foward to it.

Jonathan (jonathan_maberry) | 69 comments Nope...one of the bigger networks is developing the pilot, but details are still under wraps.

Cj | 38 comments Very nice. Just a thought. Can we get that guy from INKHEART to read selective parts of Joe Ledger to bring him to life to catch Bin Laden? Now that would be nice.

message 9: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan (jonathan_maberry) | 69 comments Hmmm...that would be kinda cool.

Scott Tyson (scotttyson) | 1 comments Patient Zero was one of my favorite books of 2009. I look forward to reading this.
Thanks Mr. Maberry.

Someone's having an awesome year...Congrats Jonathan!

That is good, SYFY couldn't buy a clue on how to manage good TV if it hit them in the face. Many good properties get aborted to quickly on that station. Hope it survives the conversion with little problems.

Cj | 38 comments I regards to SYFY. Are there any non mainstream type shows surviving cable save for SYFY. heck even FOX mentioned Fringe as being in trouble. The main 4 networks will whack ya in 4 weeks if they dont see number 1 ratings.

Well, you do have several over on BBC America, if you get that on your system. PRIMEVAL, TORCHWOOD and, of course DOCTOR WHO. Probably a couple of others I've forgotten at the moment.

I was speaking of quality and production... Original doesn't do anyone any good if it's still given the garage budget treatment and pimped as 'network'. But I don't subscribe to TV anyway, since most is disappointing.

Jonicat Motoike I tried to download the Joe Ledger short story but am unable to do so. Is anyone else having the same problem?

The link should bring you to the publisher's page where you can sign up to have the story e-mailed to you. You can download the opening of PATIENT ZERO from the page, if you haven't read that already.

message 18: by Jonicat (new)

Jonicat Motoike I already received the link from the publisher and clicked to download the story and all I get is a blank page.

I don't care who's doing it, it's going to TV... rest in peace, Patient Zero, your murder at the hands of the networks was far too soon.

You should've held out for a movie deal, Jon. :-(

message 20: by Steve (new)

Steve Chaput (stevec50) | 139 comments Not going to totally disagree that a network is going to ask for changes. On the other hand, it would be cool to see Joe Ledger & Co. possibly spun off into an on-going series, something a network deal could lead to.

Steve Chaput (stevec50) | 139 comments I had meant to write the other day that I downloaded and read DEEP, DARK. Excellent story! Good to see Joe in action, but I wonder if what he does will have repercussions (don't want to give anything away) down the line. Any hints, Jonathan?
