RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Ok, what are your thoughts on popcorn? When do you eat it? What kind? What about those new fancy-smancy gourmet popcorns? Do you air pop? Microwave? What do you put on top?

message 2: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I think I like the smell of it popping more than eating it.

message 3: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca White (rebecca_white) | 1027 comments I like it best popped on the stove in a litle oil. I love my Whirley Pop! If I don't want to mess with that, I'll get a bag of microwave but it's far inferior.

I still think movie popcorn can't be beat and sitting through a movie without popcorn just feels unsettling and wrong.

At the holidays, when you get those tins divided into three types, I go for the cheese first, then the regular.

Sarah | 13814 comments I grew up with air popped corn from one of those poppy machines and like that best. I found one at a garage sale a couple of years ago, and it makes me happy.

Microwave and movie popcorn both taste good, but leave me feeling awful. I think I eat too much.

I like the fancy gourmet popcorns but I've never bought one.
I love kettle corn and (is it Chicago style?) the one where they mix the salty and the caramel corn.

message 5: by Gatorman (new)

Gatorman Not a big popcorn fan, but if I eat it I choose cheese popcorn first.

message 6: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments I like popcorn, but with lots of butter and salt. Can't have it often because it is extremely unhealthy.

message 7: by Phoenix (new)

Phoenix (phoenixapb) | 1619 comments If I eat it, which isn't often, I prefer kettle corn. Sweet and salty is my favorite flavor combo.

message 8: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments i don't eat a lot of popcorn, and if i do it's just standard stove popped with sugar. i don't understand the appeal in salt popcorn.

message 9: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart I LOVE MOVIE THEATER POPCORN.

I also like the kind that I have right now, it's the minibags (I can't eat one full bag of microwave popcorn alone), and it's the salt and pepper flavor.

I HATE IT when people burn popcorn...like my parents always do.

Microwave. (Nothing to clean up.) But I don't eat it that often, and one hates the way it gets stuck in one's teeth. Prefer tons of butter to any other flavoring.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Whirley Pop! On the stove popped in oil. I'm with Rebecca! It doesn't need anything but salt to be perfect.
In fact, that's what I'm having for dinner tonight, along with green beans and soup. :)

message 12: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments I have a theater style popcorn machine that is popular with me and with the kids, and an air popper that I use to make plain popcorn when I'm feeling fat.

Popcorn is one of my favorite snacks. No butter.

I like white popcorn popped on the stove in a bit of oil. I like less yellow popcorn. I refuse to eat microwave popcorn.

message 14: by Jan (new)

Jan | 241 comments Microwave only. Too much work for the on the stove kind. I used to buy only butter light for healthy eating reasons, but I recently bought sweet and buttery and I don't think I could go back, calories be darned. It was soooo good.

message 15: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) Drooling here... off to make some popcorn! I'll make microwave, though it's not my favorite. I like air popped with lots of butter and salt.

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 3595 comments I'm with you, Sally. White popcorn with a dab of oil popped on the stove is great. I use both salt and pepper and, if splurging, some melted butter. Eat it with a couple of slices of super sharp cheddar, and it's a real treat. I lived on this in college. No microwave for me.

My host family used to feed the 12 year old daughter stovetop popped white corn dipped in white sugar as a treat.

message 18: by Kristina (new)

Kristina | 136 comments I have not made popcorn on the stove since I was a kid. I might have to change that.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Movie theater popcorn used to be so much better before they changed it to the weird butter substitute stuff.

I still eat it though. I rarely eat microwave popcorn, but my husband will always give me part of his if he makes some and I'll pick at it.

Homemade caramel corn and kettle corn from fairs are my favorites.

message 20: by Michele (new)

Michele bookloverforever (lovebooks14) | 1970 comments popcorn, because it is better for you than potato chips.

message 21: by Jammies (new)

Jammies I'm a double movie theater butter microwave popcorn person--you can tell by the grease all over my hands, face and slanket. ;)

message 22: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Slanket.

message 23: by Jammies (new)

Jammies It's actually a homemade version, Larry, and the friend who made it for me calls it a Sleestak. :D

message 24: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Sleestak.

Phil | 11837 comments Sleestak.

message 26: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Oh yes.

message 27: by Jammies (new)

Jammies Yup. :D 'cept mine is red and fuzzy.
